What if...

...battleships would be able to shoot only when not moving which would also make the ship immune to bumping by them lesser flies.
...it would take 20 seconds for a battleship to 'deploy' and 30 to return to 'travel mode'.
...battleships' armor and shield amount would rise by hundreds of %.
...energy core of battleships would be drained just like cruise does that.
...range of weapons would rise, projectile speed could get a minor boost as well.
...battleships' cruise could be disrupted only by a new CD which would be able to disrupt anything else above bomber.
...SNAC would have 75% of its current damage and range, which is in my opinion quite enough to take out a gunboat one'o'one or a cruiser.
...cruisers would be slower.
...there would be no battleship patrols, those are only a fleet commander farm anyway.
...there would be a green message such as "Battleship XY is activating its weapon systems".
...they could deploy only in predetermined systems of their house and nearby.

Pros of all this:
  • No more weird looking battleship fights when battleships twist around like some kind of gigantic caterpillar.
  • They would finally become large dangerous bricks of fire and hell which cannot be taken down that easily.
  • It would heavily encourage use of escorts and repair ships.
  • No more lone battleships "bombarding" New Tokyo, Leeds, etc.
  • Nova torpedoes would become more useful then just throwing cans.
  • Me thinks it would be more proper use of battleships, things larger then a station.
  • It would add some dramatic element to the fights where a battleship would be involved.
So yeah, that's it. I don't really expect this to get any further then just a concept because of annoying programming and stuff, but I'm somewhat curious if people would like that or not.

Well to be honest that how it looks (should look). The mobility of such a huge ships should be somewhere about zero. Less agi = more firepower and vice versa. That comes in all weapons, vehicles and etc.
And the balance in Battleship - Battleship fights would be completely ruined... And all that would matter would be the firepower... Nah, don't really want that.

Well, that's what battleships do. They don't go alone, so yes, one on one battleship fights would be rather boring. But who'd let an expensive huge warship go all by itself? If I remember BSG correctly, Gallactica didn't joust the Starbase or didn't try to dodge or anything.

It's just I remembered a duel between two battleships in Leeds. It looked completely stupid and inappropriate. But I see that's what people enjoy, so meh ^^
this is a silly idea. imo

battleship fights have the capacity to be extremly entertaining when both sides dont have npc farming Click and Hold loadouts, maybe spare 2 turret slots for mortars and then leave the rest for tertiarys. YAWN

this idea would remove any form of strategy or complexion from battleship combat, and become, the ship with the most armour wins. simple as that.

a true yawn fest. the amount of Battleship fights i see where the combatants are less than 500m from each other is just silly.

people dont play repairships because they have no common sence, when i play my repairship its not often the fight ends up a loss for my side 4000 shield bats and nano bots to spare is a crap load of leeway for your team.

Battleships should never stand still in a fight, nor should they move perpendicular (heading towards) to the opposing ship.
Taking away fun for the sake of realism?

Looks good to me, apart from the SNAC reduce. If BS' are gonna have a heck of a lot more armour and shields, I'm not going to want a SNAC that does 75% damage than it already does.

So, do that all, but leave the SNAC as it is.
