Dear Lane Hackers,
seems I managed to crack your channel after all. I'm mightily impressed, considering I'm more proficient in dealing with the hardware and not such funky encryption algorithms. I've probably left traces scattered all around, but I want you to find me anyway.
For the last few years, I've been employed at the Denver Technical University's physics department. As one of the leading researchers in applied semiconductor physics, I have had lots of opportunities to confer with those greedy Ageira managers who successfully managed to bribe the head of our university into giving out our patents for them to make profit, forever withholding important breakthroughs from the scientific community.
Ever since I was a teenager, I was disappointed by the many ways in which our political system doesn't stand up to the high ideals our society could achieve. Corruption, inequality, the legalized and systematic extortion we call capitalism, a democracy controlled by corporate media, and all of this made permanent by the subtle kind of oppression that you only notice when you try to actually change something.
I tried. I even became a member of our local communist party for two years. It was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. In the party, we uncovered corporate scandals, organized rallies, issued press releases, ran for election - only to realize that civil disobedience was severely punished whereas the corporates' capital crimes were discreetly and consequently ignored.
When the law itself is corrupted, the only option is to forcefully resist. I have long hesitated to take this step since I didn't want to give up what I had. After all, I was a highly paid specialist with friends and family, so I had a lot to lose. However, a recent streak of unfortunate events has destroyed most of my private life; now there is little left that keeps me here, so I decided to start anew even if it means to risk my life in the fight for a bright and just future.
Being a socially integrated citizen, I don't have connections to extremist political groups yet. I don't dare to ask my former party colleagues for fear of discovery; I think the government might have infiltrated most of the legal opposition. Having no one else, I turn to you as my last hope for a fresh start. Allow me to fight for the country that Liberty should be, for the end of corporate oppression!
Regards
