I agree with Jinx.
I think that if you want those Buckshots, get a BHG ID.
It would also answer Mjolnir's 3 issues.

a) people who mount wrong guns/ships cause they aren't aware that here it's against the rules
A) People can read whats allowed

b) people who mount wrong guns/ships cause they don't care about rules
B) it's easy to sanction them because there are less grey areas

c) people who "RP" only to get better guns/ships
C) RP what you like. No ID no gear. End of.

If you want 'that' ship or 'that' gun, get the ID and rolepaly that character. The character who would have it.
If you don't like that ship or gear, try the ID that has the gear you like and role play THAT character.
Can't get that ideal combo?
Deal with it.
It should be about balance and chopping and changing the stuff that makes up that balance unbalances it. SURPRISE!

Why can't people live with the flaws in their chosen characters equipment parameters instead of always trying to get the best of everything?
Some things should come, warts and all.

In the tech chart please try to include ships that are restricted per forum house rule regulations to avoid a bad purchase. Hate hearing from a player military/police character that my ship is illegal when I had previously consulted the Tech chart. That should overrule these made up faction forum rules that are nowhere to be found in game. Thanks! :yahoo:

It's not about getting the best equipment, it's about the roleplay itself. Everyone agrees best equipment out there is kraken sabre anywhere, yet people roleplay to get other stuff. I got 5 ships for my mando char, none of which civilian or border worlds. All factional.
I did not vote, because there is no Other option.

I say every red cell goes white.

If I want to RP a BAF Templar defector to the Order, I cant.

But, if its all white-celled, I PM Dieter, lay out my RP, reasons, etc.

Leave it to the faction leaders.

aha, I understand you
However the issue is...

Everybody wants to be unique.
Nobody wants to be the same as someone else.

So with all white cells you'll get only unique cases of RP characters in space.
No random navy guy with a random background...
School, academy, first kill, veteran etc.

You'll only see...
Girl, no parents since they were shot, very good pilot skilz, very handsome, very good at sleeping with captains which is why see obtains every gun of every house on her phantom ship.

I dun' want to see only unique stuff.
But thats my point of view
' Wrote:As usual, good insights and good points.

However, this may put Freelancers and Mercs in a pinch. They'd be stuck using civilian vessels, generic guns and code weapons.
Freelancers NPC faction's not supposed to be as populated as other House NPC factions. If devs'd balance to allow FLs to use everything, noone would fly any faction aside from FLs.

On Disco, to be unique you have to be usual.

No official comment from the administration, so this poll shall be stabbed once more out of futility.
Did you think this poll would really effect anything?
I think the main problems with the tech chart are
1)it is another set of rules that exists on the forums and not in-game
2)it promotes combinations that developers didn't envisage.
3)every player has at least one problem with it, which means that everyone will find fault in some aspect of it.
4)players tend to request changes that benefit themselves and not others

Some solutions (These would require significant help from players in e.g. rewriting infocards.)

We make all guns and/or ships generic and remove faction descriptions from them.
We make all ships the same stats with different categories.
We make all guns the same stats with different categories.
We let factions decide on the colours of the cells - not for what they have access to but what others can access from them.
We insist that factions are pure tech and end deals for other factions to use stuff.
We remove the tech chart completely and insist that you must use your faction's own stuff.

An easier solution would be to remove the Sabre completely.

Edit:
Or maybe we leave it as it is and accept that we can't have everything.
Also, stop bumping the thread please.
