Colonial Remnant

Story:
Life down here began up there.

Somewhere in the murkiness of prehistory an event began life on earth and though many other explanations came into being during Earth's existence this one persisted. That myth was one of an advanced spacefaring people driven from their home planet of Kobol by Gods with whom they coexisted. After centuries of war between the gods of Kobol, the people boarded 13 great star galleons and escaped the destruction of their cradle world. 12 of these great ships found their homes in the Tyrannus system where they built 12 colonies. The 13th galleon was thought lost to the others and nearly forgotten. Fate brought this last space galleon to a shiny blue planet called Earth which flourished unaware of its ancient heritage.

Everything that has happened will happen again.

Tens of thousands of years later the people of the 12 colonies of Kobol again found themselves fleeing their homes; not from gods this time but from their own children. Through pride and ingenuity the Colonials had created life in their own image-much as a god would. Their creation was an artificial life-form called the Cylon. Created to serve the Colonials as slaves, the Cylons rebelled and war consumed the 12 colonies for a generation. At the height of the war when it seemed there would be no end, the Cylons signed an armistice with the Colonials and an uneasy peace followed. An armistice line was drawn and the Cylons withdrew to their homeworld. The Cylons were not heard from or seen for 40 years.

The colonials remained vigilant and amassed a space fleet fit for the gods themselves. 10 Battlestars for each colony and a military force that spanned the galaxy. However when the Cylons struck again, not even the might of the Colonial fleet could withstand their attack. Equipped with human-looking machines that infiltrated and sabotaged the fleet, the Cylons overwhelmed the 12 colonies and systematically eliminated their inhabitants.

The survivors of the Tyrannus holocaust were scattered across the galaxy. A small group of no more than fifty thousand banded together under the protection of the last known Battlestar, the Galactica, and fled for deep space.

The search for the 13th tribe.

The Cylons pursued Galactica's rag tag fleet across the stars, trying to eliminate their sinful makers completely. Having no other hope, the surviving people of the 12 colonies turned to scripture written down on the scrolls of Pythia. Pythia recounted the myth of the 13th tribe that was lost but thought to have landed on Earth, far from Tyrannus. Placing their final hopes in an obscure legend, the rag tag fleet traced their ancestors ruins and discovered the secret location of the lost 13th tribe. Decades of travel followed, as did the Cylons. Eventually Earth was found, but the 13th tribe was gone. Instead of a planet full of their long lost brethren, the rag tag fleet found a desolate radiation field the size of a small star system. Evidence of a cataclysmic event that destroyed Earth brought the small fleet to its knees. Suicide rates skyrocketed. Hope was lost. Luckily a very brave group of scientists found evidence that humanity could have escaped Earth's destruction and looked again to the stars for their salvation. Another exodus followed as lengthy as the first that ended in the Sirius system.

Reunion and Diaspora

10 years of space travel ended in 802 A.S, Sirian calendar when Freeport 11 Zoners detected the rag tag fleet on their furthest sensor nets. In the months following the Nomad war of 801 A.S. there was little trust of outsiders anywhere in Sirius. The strange Colonials were viewed as a nuisance to most of the house governments. Some Colonials attempted to settle down in core worlds only to be rejected by their hosts. Riots broke out in cities where Colonials where allowed to take jobs and buy property. The Colonial Remnant began to scatter amongst the Sirius stars, their culture dissipating. Rather than be reunited with ancestral brethren, the Colonials would be swallowed up by them.

Timeline since Reunion

809 A.S Contact with Cylon vessels in various parts of Sirius. Only ever showing in small numbers of 2 or 3 at a time and eventually disappearing, these sightings are suppressed by the Rosalyn administration. History records this as a fatal error.

810 A.S: the freely elected President of the 12 colonies of Kobol, Laura Rosalyn strikes a deal with Planetform Inc. Seeing an opportunity to hire a captive and low-payed workforce, as well as a mercenary fleet, Planetform began hiring every Colonial refugee they could find. Eager for work and the promise of new lives, the diaspora converged on Bretonia. With the promise of a new world crafted by Planetform, the President ordered the Colonial fleet (then consisting of Galactica and half a squadron of Colonial Vipers,) to serve as security forces for the various ongoing Planetform projects.

811 A.S: Gaian terrorists assassinate Laura Rosalyn during a PR visit to planet Harris. Demands for immediate end of all Terraforming projects in Bretonia follow the claims for responsibility. The Vice President of the 12 colonies of Kobol, Orrin Dymas is sworn into office.

812 A.S: President Dymas breaks contractual obligations with Planetform citing fraud. Planetform charges the Dymas administration with criminal neglect and endangering Crown interests. The Colonial Remnant flee for the Taus, eventually joining the IMG coop in the hopes of finding a homeworld through reconaissance.

816 A.S: Tau-44 is discovered by Colonial recon parties working with IMG profiteers. Colonial scientists who learned trade secrets while working with Planetform begin devising ways to transform some of the planets.

26 years after escaping the Cylons in Tyrannus, the Colonial Remnant now have credible hopes of settling on a planet of their own. Many are too young to remember the early years, but an era of hardship and sacrifice has made its mark on the people as a whole. They see many disturbing things in the people of Sirius. Older Colonials remember how it was, and recite a litany to their children and grandchildren:

Thou shalt not create a machine in the likeness of a man.

Thou shalt not create a machine in the likeness of a man.

Sirius is in danger of repeating the sins of a near annihilated culture. They know what is coming. And this time they will be ready.

If you are referring how Colonials got here that is written here and that is "official version"
unlikely pinky, the NOmads would never align with anyone except the domkavash.
