i've seen on the liberty dreadnought ( buyed in new-york ) a weapon that the fire distance is 0 meters...
i think its the flak or something like that...
It doesnt have firing range because it will go forever, apparently.
It's projectile lifetime is 6 seconds, and it has speed of 160 meters per second so its range is 960 meters.
@ Pozine: The flak normally is meant to counter torpedos and missiles, but you can abuse them, by shooting a CD towards the enemy and a flak right behind. The flakshot goes for the CD and the CD will lead the flakshot to the target.

Thank you for this useful lesson on how to abuse loopholes:)
one thing - just ignore flaks. they are broken and useless. last version they were killer weapons - now they are nerft to nothingness. but they are still placeholders for the times when someone has a really good idea of what a flak weapon can be. ( that is a REAL anti fighter weapon for capital ships )

besides - firing a CD and a flak afterwards.... are you sure the flak "follows" the CD? - not only is the flak a lot slower but it also hasn t got tracking ability - but the CD ( train ) will blow the flak up, which will by itself do a good amount of area-of-effect damage, if used correctly.

so, in theory it can be used against light fighters and fighters ( stuff that you have a hard time to hit in your BB ) cause you don t need to aim with a flak but just blow it up in the fighters face so they take the area damage. but it takes up a precious turretslot and is limited to 70 shots - without CDs the flak is useless. ( unless you are facing a group of light fighters that are all bunched together in a very tight spot and most importantly ... motionless.
