I would like some recommendations for English language online news aggregators.

English, because you all know that Americans only speak two languages: English, and American.

If you aren't familiar with the term news aggregator, it's a site that provides many links to other sites' news articles. This is an example.

I will be quite happy with choices specializing in non-American news sources that focus on current events. For this request, I'm primarily interested in news around the world.

If you live in a non-English speaking country, but one of your major news outlets also provides an online edition in English, I would be happy to see these suggested also.

I will also be interested in English language sites that focus on editorials or commentaries about the news. For example, two American sites I use are here and here.
Have you tried Google News or http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world/ yet? Both work pretty good and offer
customisation options so they can show pretty much exactly what you want them to.

EDIT: Here, for example, is the World News tab from the U.K. version of Google News: http://news.google.com/news/section?cf=all...ic=w&ict=ln
A list of feeds here

This one is interesting. I even have this on dish and find the news more openly displayed.
Not precisely news, but if you are getting at what I think you are:

Not quite, Dieter, but there is a certain juicy irony about a site that offers an article about protesters against sex tourism in Ukraine while simultaneously hosting a banner ad at the bottom of the page for "Russian Women."

Yes. It is wonderful.
is this what you're getting at? - www.newsmap.jp
Obligatory: http://english.aljazeera.net/

Not even kidding. After the Egypt uprising this is the website to be on. And yes I know it's not an aggregator per se but big portals have enough articles that you can sign up for their RSS and only look at what you want anyway. This is what I do with a whole bunch of websites. Like this one for example: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/. Or this one: http://therealnews.com/
