With the reliability of missiles being a roll of the many sided dice, it got me thinking. (Oh lord no).
Is it possible to have a type of weapon that is a gun, but when its projectile hits, causes a small area of effect damage?
The point of this weapon is to be a blunt but moderately effective gun that can also damage enemy mines and missiles in the area, and sub-systems.
This is an explosive gun to a point, but with moderate-low damage, it is meant to engage and destroy ballistics in the immediate area while harassing the enemy ship.
The main abuse of this I can see is sub-system rape depending on the damage count on snub-craft.
So, an AoE gun. Possible? Wanted?
