1: Do mines get drawn away like missiles when CM's are used?

2: Do other people's CM's affect missiles targeting others if they're close?
1: Yes.
2: No. If a CM attracts a missile, it loses target lock. Once past the CM it will continue on in a straight line. If it happens to hit something while in that straight line however, the missile will still detonate.

's why you should change course after dropping some CMs.

I think he meant, what happens if Player A fires a missile at Player B, and nearby, Player C drops a CM?
It would seem logical to me that the suposed misle gets distracted. a cd would give some kind of energy or warmth when it explodes
1 - No.
2 - CM's only work if they are fired from the person whom the missile is locked on.
Would be a nice addition if they worked regardless.

This would allow for an escort to cover the escape of a trader, or for a Reseph to be able to like... SPAM CM's to let an entire fleet escape.

that would be good, and give escorts some right of existence, but then again, there are so few pirates, that escorts are more expensive than the ocasional pirate tax, so why bother.

But with demands twice as big as casual fee for escort it still is better to hire scout.

Countermeasures have a range noted on their ammo. Any tracking projectile within that range has the chance listed on the countermeasure dropper, to be attracted to the countermeasure. Of course, with the tracking sketchy as is due to high server load this doesn't always work.

For this reason heavy CM launchers are so damn useful - their projectiles last a lot longer, able to attract more then one missile.

I did it in one fight to protect a GB.

A BS fired a Missile on my friend and I moved between both and released some CMs.
It worked and he survived.
