Also you should remember that the ingame lag depends on how much RAM you have for the files to record. At full resolutions every 5 minutes is around 2 GB.
Having a fast-writing HDD is crucial for lagless HD recording.

The best free one I've found is microsoft expression. The free version lets you make 10 minute videos.
Note: I gave up on camstudio. This just didn't work well for me.

Microsoft Expression Screen Capture, yeah. It is good enough for me.
