first question:
for those who have played mass effect and mass effect 2 have you noticed that there is much less of the citidel in mass effect 2 than 1? there is allot that was cut out like morlans famous shop (it had great merchandise by the way) and flux's casino and bar.
second question: how does vigils theme make you feel its kinda sad but then again happy for me.

As to why citadel is so different in ME2

See ending if ME1. Loads of people died and possibly the merchant place was taken out. I actually preferred ME1 to ME2. ME2 had a less developed storyline I think. Of course no-one would ever know that from the 500 million recorded hours of dialogue in the game.

Actually if you ask the captain Baily of citadel security in me2 he says almost everything was repaired and cleaned up. plus you get a message/advertisement on the Normandy SR2 from morlan about his shop that was in me1.
Becuase you goto a completly different area of the Citadel exept one time and that time only.

you are on one of the wings of it instead of the central ring.
[color=#FFFFFF]ME Showed the vastness of space with a certain mysticism, the mysterious melodies the dramatically lit uncharted worlds. Blade runner inspired music... It had that feeling of how little we are compared to the Galaxy. Hey wtf are you doing, you are some scummy human you are the alien here. Space travel is for the few the majority just sticks to their home world or the colony they were born on

ME-2 Took a step in the wrong direction if you ask me. Much more Star Warsized vision of the ME universe, everybody travels to and from in a matter of seconds almost no "you are the alien" feel (though that's explained with the human contribution during the Sovereign crisis). Almost everything I liked in ME, was gone in the second part. BUT...one massive BUT. It more than made up for the lack of scale with the representation of how the people actually live 200 years in the future. What they eat, where do they go out, what do they listen to, how their apartments look like.

Now to relate to the topic. The citadel and Illium are typical Bioware places, aka tunnels with a background of a metropolis. The main reason for the difference in the Citadel from ME1 and ME2 is the year the game was released. The latest version of the Unreal Engine allowed for the flashy hologram displays viewed in ME2 without them everything is the almost exactly the same

On a side note, seeing how Bioware is failing with ToR and how it failed with Dragon Age II. I am not even looking forward to ME3. This will be the only me that I will not pre-order and will wait to the release date. I don't want to have one of my all time favorite series be destroyed because of the ranting and moaning of 16 year old fan boys and Bioware listening to them
About the Dragon age series, I must admit that I haven't really touched the second game, mainly due to the setting of universe, the generic fantasy world shown was too... generic for me to be honest, also combat mechanics weren't really satisfying for me.

About ME1, it was great except for the combat mechanics, for my infiltrator combat went down to 'kill what you can one shot from sniper, and charge with pistol on 'pistol mastery' that (increased damage, fire rate and made gun to never overheat, turning it into uzi with endless ammo and precision of assault rifle, with 50% uptime if used every time you can), a bit dissapointing. Oh, and how cover liked to bug from time to time.

ME2 got better with the combat, and about the story, the main plot was too short in my opinion, most of the time you make recruitment/loyalty missions, nevertheless I had fun lots of fun, and learned to take great pleasure in every main-plot-related stuff.

As to the size, ME2 citadel is smaller, mainly due to creating other hub zones instead of single, giant one. Also removal of our *cough* beloved elevators.

And about the vigil theme, it makes me happy, then sad, as if someone said "there are lots of great stuff up there, but you're not gonna see it"
