Originally designed as a tabletop fantasy miniature game, Blood Bowl emulates American Football in the fantasy scenario of Warhammer (originally from Games Workshop). Both Warhammer and Blood Bowl are games in which miniature models of warriors/players are painted by hand by those who play, the first one involving large scale medieval fantastic battles, and the other emulating a sport inside Warhammer world.
Blood Bowl was developed as a video game many times, but it hasn't been until cyanide studios and game workshop joined forces, that the ultimate video game version was launched. And it allows online playing, which has grown strong enough to have an annual world championship with prizes reaching 10 thousand dollars.
