The distinction is clear here.

"Kill" means to murder, deliver death.
So stating that someone was killed while we all have 100%-successful-pods is a bit incorrect.
In addition, this is common word used in competetive gaming, which gives implication, that actual PvP must be competetive and might lead to more grief after being shot down ingame.

"Destroy" on the other hand would fit more, as we shoot down spacecrafts, not people, and we have confirmation of ship being destroyed, not killed in this case.
Such word would imply less negativity in PvP, as it is rarer in competetive gaming.

...

So, I hope this will be interesting discussion and maybe administrators will take attention on outcome of this vote in case community think it is "destroyed" that fits more/is better word for "Blue Messages".
You forgot the 'other' option in your poll...
Darn. Well, you can still state other ideas.

There are other Problems in Disco. Shouldn't be changed at all...

Thing is, many of these other problems require a two to three year dev cycle. This problem merely requires an admin to open FLServer and type a new word into the "death messages" box. Slight contrast in effort there.

Since we are being technical: "[x] forced [y] to eject".

But your poll is still skewed.

And honestly, I think this is nitpicking where a problem doesn't exist. But I'll humor you for now.
Death messages still need to be fairly generic though. If you get too detailed like "forced to eject" it starts to look odd when you kill a ship that's not using a pilot name, or is a transport, GB and bigger.

This is the next big crisis in Discovery? Politically correct death messages?

True.
Yes, Discovery Freelancer is the example of outstanding and unacceptable violence in online gaming, strong language and graphic scenes of abuse and sexual harassment. The death message should sound as "Someone was tolerated and loved by someone, desu", desu.

On the other hand, the "destroyed" message would look nice on bigger ships. Some fantasy put into them would be nice, but it surely shouldn't be a question of highly moral attitude and reduced level of "negativity".

Native speakers, where are you? You would be super effective on the matter.

Aruetii, I believe that he meant that the same death message should fit any kind of ship and any situation, not a message that would fit one's views on reincarnation and the main question of life, universe and everything.
