I will format my PC soon and i have little dilemma here.
I have ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT mounted right now and Asus Radeon X1950 PRO in my drawer, but I dont know which is better.
Please chose 1 or 2 in Poll and write if you have something to add.

Quite simliar as you can see. In my opinion, you won't see a huge difference.
But I prefer ATI over Asus.

, both are old and not that good, 2600XT was disaster for ATI, that's why the previous 1950 model is better, however if I were you I would go for second hand 4850- it should not be much more expensive than this two but it will be much better as performance.

this page. There isn't that much of a difference between the two, to be honest, but the X1950 seems to pull ahead of the 2600XT in some of the tests. Note that the tested cards are 512 MB versions, though.
ASUS are absolutely terrible cards. Their lifespan is extremely low and ASUS customer service is terrible. You'll save yourself a lot of headache not buying ASUS graphics cards.
ATI. You'll be sorry if you don't.
HD2600 XT
It'll probably have much better support in newer games then the X1950.
Mainly because of the DX10
