To the Lane Hackers.

Recently one of our Transports was crossing through Liberty space, on two occasions it came under attack from vessels transmitting a Hacker signature. Firstly in New York, by two Gunboats bearing the Designations Grek and Gigbytus. Fortunately both vessels were destroyed by an escort. On the second occasion while travelling through Cortez, the same trade-ship had 500,000 credits extorted from it, by another Hacker vessel designated LH~Anonymous.

On this occasion our brother paid the 500,000 in the interests of proceeding quickly.
The Council would like to enquire as to why our vessel was targeted. In the past I am not aware of us having an hostile, or come to think of it any kind of relations at all. The Creator teaches us to be amenable and kind to those who do not attack us. I would like to enquire as to why we were targeted? As we have no record of hostilities till now.

From time to time such individuals are useful as cannon fodder or distraction for our covert operations. However, besides that, we don't really care about their fate or laughable attempts of cargo seizure or extortion. However, rest assured that, if those were two real Hackers, then your cruiser escort would have undoubtedly met its end. Even our least experienced recruits, like the one you have met in Cortez, are able to enforce their will through combination of superior combat skills and mania interrogation while having only an unarmoured freighter or light fighter at their disposal.

As for your inquiry, you are one hundred percent correct. We have hostile relations neither with the Zoners nor with any of the groups they have given asylum to, including the Virulian Enclave. Transports belonging to the corporations we are hostile to have their whole cargo confiscated, their combat vessels are being destroyed without hesitation, and their pilots are being captured and mania interrogated until driven into insanity. Never such a fate was shared by a single Zoner or, in your case, a piloting entity. Although we have a lot of sympathy for the whole Zoner community mainly because of its independence and tolerance, it doesn't mean that your vessels flying through zones controlled by us are exempt to our standard taxation policies. Such privilege is given only to our closest allies and friends. Although, as I have said, we might have some sympathy to your group, and in fact our demands are considerably lower in your case, you're neither our ally nor you have nothing to offer in exchange for our friendship.
