Klaus Lange

Due to official topic was closed for discussion I'll say it here:

Because some members thinks IC is supreme power in Sirius, able to overthrow Houses by force of will, I prepared few points to discuss:

1) "As sign of solidarity with IC SynthFoods will cut off food supplies for Rheinland planets, you'll lose!"

Yeah, I'm already seeing it... Tell me, what Rheinland will do in this case? How many tanks, troops etc. have SynthFoods on Stuttgart, and how many RM? How many battleships on Stuttgart's orbit for controling traffic between planet and space?

"They'll bribe goverment!"

And for in comparition to Synth profits small bribes goverment will let their citizens to starve to death. Because, as we all know, revolutionary mood in Rheinland is quite low, and massive hunger won't higher it, isn't it?

"SynthFoods will abandon/be forced to abandon Stuttgart and what Rheinland will do? Buy food from Cambridge?"

Maybe. In such case temporary rationing food isn't excluded. Don't forget there's LWB with it main purpouse driving Synth out of Rheinland. They're former farmers with extendend knowledge about farming, they're practically self-sufficient in food prouction, thanks to biodomes in Dusseldorf, hydroponics on Darmstadt, Kaiserlautern...They're even selling food to Hessians. After hypothetical retreat Synth from Rheinland, goverment could semi-legalise LWB, like AFA in vanilla. It would be harsh try for LWB-Hessian alliance, but with main objective of LWB fullfilled... Farmers would recultivate Stuttgart and Nuremberg in traditional, healthy way. And in vanilla ALG secretly supports LWB, "every credit of profit from selling SynthFoods Fertilizers and Terraforming Gases for use on Stuttgart is going to LWB". They'll for sure lobby in goverment for LWB case. Hypothetically.

2) "IC will stop financing Rheinland lanes and gates maintentace costs!"

Rheinland already offered Ageira IC shipping laws and more, what will cause increased profits. Ageira like profits.
btw. in Sirius are also Junkers, Hackers and Gallia. They know something about lanes and gates too.

3) "IC stopped shipping in Rheinland, you're owned. Muahahahaha!"

For that Rheinland have mainly Repex, and also DHC, Kruger, ALG...

4) "IC will economicaly ruin Rheinland! Give us our cash back, whole cash now!"

There's already precedent in real world, Iceland 2008. But I'm not going to discuss RL politics here, I'm just saying there's precedent.

5) "What will RFP do now? Maybe they need advice from KSP? Muahahahaha!"

As others said, we'll do what must be done. Enforce the law. It's always muuuch better RP than having 20 Fleetadmirals on Hattan's orbit in one time, every onboard his own, private Dreadnought.

Any opinions are welcome.

Pavel

EDIT: Did you hear about any IC demands for losses caused by Kusari-Rheinland embargo in vanilla? No? IC only started to support Hessians and GC. But lanes were nationalised.

Are we talking NPC factions, Official factions or player base as faction indies+official members here?

We're talking about possible plot changes, which includes all above mentioned.

Plot changes depends on official factions then. So you'd rather rethink this post of yours:D

I forgot to add from those mentioned ofc official factions have decisive power.
ALG can be booted out of Liberty.
Kruger is unofficial.
DHC and RepEx are corporations.

Are those corporations nationalised and their profits go to Rheinland's budget?
Quote:3) "IC stopped shipping in Rheinland, you're owned. Muahahahaha!"

Great! IC gets kicked out of the market, Rheinland companies will get bigger share of it, their profits will go into developing Rheinland's economy, and not into Liberty's/IC business over sirius. Which will result in economic growth in Rheinland.

PROFIT!

Quote:4) "IC will economicaly ruin Rheinland! Give us our cash back, whole cash now!"

How bout... big, fat NO. We're at war, after all.
Yeah, they can sue Rheinland and cofiscate it's assets in.. Liberty.

Now, something he missed.
Quote:7) We will stop insuring rheinland shipping and prices will skyrocket!
Will just quote skype

[2012-04-19 13:13:19] Илья. says: but lack insurance won't affect shipping prices TOO much. Why?

Because it has it's own laws to be profitable business. If the risks were high, then insurance price would be very high as well, because otherwise IC would go bankrupt.
Therefore, shipping companies were already putting that extremeley high insurance price into their shipping prices, to cover expenses on insurance.

if risks are low, then there're again not too much problems, because they are low.
[2012-04-19 13:16:33] Илья. says: After all, insurance company exists to make profit. Which means, it's gains should be always higher then it's expenses. And where it is getting it's profit (in Rheinland)? Right, from Rheinland companies. If it wouldn't be able to get profit on insurance market in Rheinland, it wouldn't do what it was doing - which means it was getting more money from Rheinland economy then it was "giving away", in one form or another.

All of this is very simplified, of course, but kicking out IC out of Rheinland definitely is not that disastrous.

Trade Lanes and Jumpgates is the only problem that Sirius Houses have. but there're (and especially will be, in 87) various possibilities to solve it.

Shall we talk about what happens to Interspace Commerce when it won't be Interspace anymore, as well?

We've beer, we don't need other things. [Image: smilie-trinkt-kaffee.gif]
Or we'll now eat all the bad people on Vierlande. (m'jamm m'jamm salted revolutionaries)

jokes aside.

Who knows what the LWB will do, if their main enemy flees.

And the losses Rheinland suffers which are no longer covered by insurance, hm?

So you're telling me Rheinland (as a whole economy, all companies included) were paying them less money then they were getting from them in form of insurance?
Since when IC became a charity organization?

Insurance business is a business, first of all.
