Would you mind aknowledging the Corse's situation, at least?

A simple "No, I'm sorry, since there's no official faction we won't touch the cells", or "We're considering this option" would at least make me stop posting once a day about the matter. |8

Aet: Not sure about it yet. Corse are pro-royalist criminals, much like the Hogosha in Kusari. They enjoy a legal status internally - but if any of you intend to be hitting any Samura or Kishiro transports, you would not be welcome on Kusari planets - since they have a rather short patience for gaijin to begin with.. This would mean you'd need a line added on the ID stating you may not attack Kusari lawfuls, which makes no sense for what the UC are. I do not think docking rights on KSP bases/planets are warranted for the UC.
That does ruin a good part of the UC goods related runs, though. A solution would be to make the Hogosha buy UC stuff and vice-versa.

The issue with the Corse is that a lot of their stuff is on a case-by-case basis. Not all of them are hitmen, some just deal in hypnos. Some refuse to touch traders. Some even disagree with the Nox trade and are extremely glad Synth Weed was introduced as an alternative. Putting them all in the same basket doesn't really work, either. Their rumors also imply they try to keep a legitimate look when out in Sirius, at least until the Nox market is well-implented there.

I mean, my Corse would trade in Rheinland, even, especially since Stuttgart has the highest buying price of Hypnotainments in all of Sirius.
Doesn't matter. Kusari are xenophobes by nature. Doesn't take much to piss them off - and part of your organization hitting their traders would definately piss them off. They don't welcome Junkers for exactly the same reason. Why would the UC be any different?

Besides, the Corse aren't a true trading faction. Want to trade as a Gaul - use IDF, EFL, Solar or GMS. Those are the trading factions. "I can't trade like this" is not a valid reason to change this rephack. Not having smuggling routes to the Hogosha is something you can bring up in the economy bugs/requests thread.

That's kinda a kneejerk reaction to a situation that hasn't even happened yet. Hitting on Samura trader anyway would harm the relationship they have with the Hogosha regardless. One of the main purpose of the Corse in Kusari would be to monitor how large the Cardamine influence is there and how they could implement their own Nox market in reaction to it by studying its population demographics, like a real cartel does (which I've complained about in the past about how there is no route in Sirius for Nox, maybe it's been fixed since). Comparing the Corse, composed of influencial members of the Gallic government and other such nobles, to the Sirian Junkers, a bunch of travelling gypsies, or the Gallic Junkers for that matter, who've fallen out of the grace of the Gallic Royals, is an odd thing to do since the ressemblence only exists game-mechanic wise: you can only do so much with a 2003 space shooter, I guess. There's also the whole position Gallia has over Kusari, and the strong bond between the Corse and the Hogosha which, in my opinion, plays an important part in all this.

The Corse is a cartel faction, not an unlawful faction. It needs to have trading to survive, and to have it within the limited mechanics of a 2003 space shooter. Our trade factor is already limited by the size of our cargo ships, I believe the Corse should handle the rest from there.

And that still doesn't answer the question about the tech nerfs.

EDIT: There's also the fact that the Print Screen button nerfs A LOT of the Corse's roleplay, to begin with.

Corse stuff Wrote:We're able to keep on good terms with the Law despite some of our shady dealings. We seem to have a knack for finding the kinds of government officials that understand our business and are willing to engage in some mutual back-scratching.

We buy Counterfeit Software off of the Council and resell it to various customers around Gallia who prefer to have plausible deniability about its source. Planet Marseille doesn't have trade lanes running to it yet, so all the scientists and their hologame addicted teenagers down there pay top credit for the latest software, however they can get it.

The Croix-Rousse region of Planet Lyon has a large number of Nox customers. The diamond miners seem to especially like it after a hard day's work. Or maybe they like it during a hard day's work. Or maybe before they go to work. Frankly, I couldn't care less when they like it, so long as they keep buying it.

The discovery of Sirius has brought major changes to our operations. Suddenly there are dozens of new types of products that we can pick up and sell on the black market to our fellow Gallians. The only problem is the Royal Navy guarding the minefields. That's where our skills and expertise come in.

I can't wait to expose the Sirians to Nox. If they try it once, they'll be hooked. With our presence in the Gallic black market, that should mean lots more cash for the Corse. We can only hope that the Nox trade one day rivals Cardamine in Sirius.

I've been studying Sirian language in preparation for some operations across the border. The Corse bosses see big money making opportunities for our family in Sirius.

I heard the Junkers have actually been in Sirius for hundreds of years. And even then, they are still viewed as scummy salvagers. Ha! Those Junkers: what a bunch of incompetent failures.

Nox is highly addicting, therefore the rule "Once a customer, always a customer" applies to it. Now we ship Nox in quite large amounts to nearly everywhere, but from this base mainly to Planet New Paris. If they want, we are here to supply!

Among those who are using Nox there are civilian from both Council controlled areas and Royal controlled ones. Since we are in it for the money we supply both sides. Personally I bring large shipments to Planet Marne. We don't want only one side to enjoy our fantastic drug right?

Sirius' residents are not aware of Nox's side-effects. This makes it ideal for us to export it to there, where we will sell it to a large, demanding, population that will get addicted to it and bring us, the Corse families, large profit. We just have to set up the proper distribution contacts and supply network first.

These rumors showcase that:

>The Corse attempts its best to be in the good grace of governments and are ready to make sacrifices if only for profits' sake.
>The Corse wants to have business in Sirius
>The Corse already sells their merchandise planet-side themselves
>They're pretty different from the Junkers
I repeat: How is your faction different from the Junkers, which are booted from Kusari for the same reason, being unlawful outsiders that are known to prey on trading ships. If you're going to profile yourself as a lawful-ish faction, you'll be needing to drop piracy alltogether. If not, you'll be unwelcome in Kusari. The "some of us are lawful traders and some of us are unscrupulous pirates" attitude gets you the drawbacks of both of that, not the perks. The same thing I've been telling LE and RR: You can't be two things at once - allowing such is not fair to the rest of the Sirian factions who are stuck to their own role as lawful, quasilawful or unlawful entities in their specific areas of operation.

Decide what you want to be. Lawful - which brings trading perks but eliminates piracy. Quasilawful, which limits the lawful bases you can dock at outside of your own nation, or unlawful - which eliminates lawful docking alltogether.
I've been attempting to work with the materials I've been given here, that's all. If we're not supposed to act the way we're supposed to act, implementing tons of fuzzy infocards about it seems useless.

How much can we actually pirate the Lawful factions of Gallia, even if our infocards show that this happens on a daily basis? Basically non-existant due to the magic of Print Screen.

How much can we actually fight back, pressure and blackmail, game-mechanic wise? Not a whole lot before FR2 comes into play.

This is my concern about all this. See my edited post for Corse-related rumors which affect this particular issue.

EDIT: Tell me, how long would we stay Quasi-Lawful if we'd follow these infocards? How long before someone fills up a FR5 request?

Quote:We're able to conduct a fairly decent trade in Superalloy from this base, even though we don't manufacture it ourselves. Our Corse pilots are very charming and persuasive, apparently. Every time a GMS convoy from Roanne Production comes across one of our patrols they start jettisoning cargo like their lives depend on it. We sell large quantities to the Junkers on Lixheim Base. They don't pay market prices for it, but they have to resell it at less than market prices themselves. It seems that nobody believes the Junkers' merchandise is not preowned.

Sometimes we need to 'borrow' certain supplies from passing IDF Shipping convoys. Most of their escorts know better than to try and stop us. The ones that don't tend to end up as corpses floating in space.

We ship Superalloy to Joinville Base pretty regularly. The Council, Maquis, and Brigands in Champagne are always willing to pay top prices for it due to the GRN blockade of the system. They try to smuggle it in themselves, as well as producing it on Planet Marne, but nothing beats the top shelf product produced at Roanne that we liberate from GMS convoys.

This King hasn't made a serious effort to try and crack down on our black market dealings. He knows better. He has only to look back to some of his assassinated ancestors to see what happens when you take on the Unione Corse.

The clowns in the Gallic Metal Service are really starting to piss me off. They just lack any sense of professionalism. I usually don't like to use force, but I'll make an exception if one of those jokesters try some of their slapstick shenanigans again.

The Royal Police usually don't try to tax us like they do with some of the other groups. After a few fatal incidents a few decades ago, they now know better.

We've been doing surveillance on the few entrances in and out of Gallia, looking for the most valuable cargo that comes through. Soon enough, we'll know exactly who, where, and when to attack the hapless transports. Then there will be big and easy profits for us.

Sirian traders flying through Gallia tend to be the easiest prey. They are always woefully unprepared for an encounter with the Unione Corse.

We'll take on a Royal Navy officer or two if we somehow get caught with contraband. They tend to disappear and our shipment moves on long before the Navy reinforcements can arrive.

You tell me if we're Lawful, Quasilawful or Unlawfuls, now. What you're telling me now is that the Print Screen button > Lore and potential RP. You can,t get rid of witnesses, among other things. When they see you, you shoot them dead and they press Respawn, then go file RP complaints, and you're doubly in trouble because yes, you did kill them. Huzzah.
Those infocards profile you as big badass criminals that the Gallic locals are afraid of, but prefer intimidation over firepower as their means of maintaining a powerbase, and go after high-value cargo only.

... and Kusari should be welcoming such brutes in, why exactly?

That said, Gallia was a rush job given the sheer scope of it, and the state it was in when the current dev team took on the job. Not too late to change a few things about some of the factions. Unione Corse and Gallic Junker roles in Gallia are kind of... ambiguous. But that is a discussion for 4.87 and another topic. The state the UC are in now does not warrant access to Kusari lawful bases unless the KNF and KSP factions say otherwise. Kusari quasilawful bases are another matter.
Let's put Lore aside two seconds, then.

Game mechanic wise, this is what they are:

Traders, Smugglers, Bounty Hunters, Pirates. You can't keep good relationships with anybody if you keep all these aspects together within a faction. The pirates will FR5 you. The Lawfuls will FR5 you. You can't smuggle if you can't dock on the pirates' bases. You can't trade if you can't dock on the Lawfuls' bases.

This is my whole point.

The issue isn't a .87 one.

It's an actual one.
The Hogosha managed it.
' Wrote:The Hogosha managed it.

I've led the Hogs, I know how it worked. There was a lot of "internal ententes" about it as well. A lot of it was OORp discussions, even. It was a lot of faction leaders telling their people "just ignore them".

This isn't how I want the Corse to work.
