Hi, when I pirate I quite often run across traders who wants me to escort them in exchange for the credits they are going to give me. I have to turn that down due to the Pirate ID's limitations. However what if I scout ahead for those traders? And can I gather intel and report to forces otherwise lawful when I am on a Pirate ID'd character for instance?
ID is engagement rules. To "escort" allows you to engage enemies of your client on their behalf. So if you can't "escort" it just means you can't attack another pirate for the sole reason that they made a demand of your client. You can pirate the pirate, and engage him if he refuses (no pirate ever pays), but not because he made a demand of your client. Flying ahead of your new friend and sending back radio messages of "all clear" or "hold on" isn't covered by the engagement rules.

This falls under the 'not killing the goose that lays the golden eggs' department.

You can scout ahead of them, no problem, and no ID violation.

that would be sneaky and devious.... but unless you're getting a reward, whats the point? your supply of traders wishing to employ your services as an escort would dwindle when they start putting 2+2 together.

however............

i like the idea of a confidential informant roleplay... not bad.... but not strictly lawful. smuggly junker kinda guy
