More armor, better powercore, more mounts for different gear.
If you want to just powertrade and get rich, all of the above doesn't matter -go for largest+cheapest. If you want to shoot at things or you have a specific RP concept, go with a liner.

Liners are good RP items. People use them to sell people, but because they are in a liner you can say that you are moving people because they are on a trip, or prisoners or what ever

As said liners are more for RP stuff. Imagine somebody who's got a lot of credits, would that person use a crappy transport to fly around?
Also there's OS&C which is "trading" on people which isn't really a task for transports like the Stork or so. Well yeah, you could RP that those modules are modified for passengers but in the end liners would be a passengers choice to be transported on, right?

Well, since the cappiracy's legal again, liners have little purpose in terms of safety. However, Luxury Liner's still largest non-Zoner only ship, which have CD and able to cloak. And don't forget about Bretonian Liner, it's Ideal for cargopiracy, some cruisers have worse armor and repairs.

Liners are slightly more well armed and better armored. Though they are larger, bulkier and more difficult to fly than regular transports. And since they're absolutely huge, they are easily SNACed.
The bonus aspect of liners is that they look awesome and are a good RP tool. Other than that, nothing else. If you're not interested in RPing and are just looking to get some dough, liners won't work well for you.
But, if you're a cargo pirate, the Bret liner is an excellent option. Seeing as it has cargo space that is falls within the limits of a generic ID, they can be used.

They posses a certain beauty and elegance, even the prison liner.

It does lack the CD, but is the largest ship that can cloak (other than the Whale). Vache is pretty good for it too.
Bretonian Cruise Liner is very good for piracy (including legal piracy as BPA), as you know from the Amidala.
