Hello.

A few days ago I became aware of the game called Strike Suit Zero and immediately fell for the hype. Maybe this was the space sim that would fill the void Freelancer left in my gamer heart and that Black Prophecy failed miserably to fulfill. And again, I was disappointed. It's too arcade for my taste, no freedom at all.

So I thought "You know what? Screw this!" and installed Freelancer again. This time, I decided to give multiplayer a go and, after a lot of research, try and error and reinstalls, I ended up here. So far, I'm really enjoying what I'm seeing. I've only been to a server once but it was really enjoyable. For now, I'm paying in open SP just to learn about the ships and jumpholes, but I'll get back into the server as soon as I determine what kind of ships I want to work for.

That said, I do have a couple of questions. I can't for the life of me find the jumphole New York > Alaska. I want to give the "Hathor" Order Gunboat a try and going through the Alaska system seems like the best way. But I've only been able to find the jumpgate that is surrounded by mines and no jumpholes. So, where is that jumphole in 4.86? If it's unreacheble for now, what is the best way to get to Omicron-Mu/Omicron-100 from New York?

Another question: what is the exact name of the official Discovery RP server? A lot of servers have almost identical names and I'm not sure the one I joined is the official.

Also, I'd love suggestions for very heavy fighters, miners, gunboats and freighters that can hold their own in pvp (in the case of miners and freighters, ones that are best suited for survival and retreat in case of attack) and loadouts best suited for them. I ask this because it's been really a long time since I played FL and all the new ships and equips on this mod are a complete unknow to me and the wiki can only give so much info on that.
So far I'm using the IR-7 Raven's Talon with the best equips I could find so far in SP and am enjoying this ship. Besides, it looks awesome. Killing in style is also important, IMO.

And I guess that's it for now. Sorry for the wall of text and my somewhat broken english. English is not my first language.

*Edit*
I also can't find the Colorado > Illinois jumphole for some reason. I have yet to try New Tokyo > Hiroshima > Oita > Ellesmere > Alaska.
Welcome to the server. For the Jumphole Issue you might wanna give the "Freelancer Companion" software a try?"
First off.... allow me to give you a Warm Welcome to Disco!

Now.. to answer your questions: As the above user stated... you should download Freelancer Companion (can be easily found on Google i think) and use that one to find all Jump Gate/Hole locations. Alternatively, you may simply use the DiscoWiki ( http://www.discoverygc.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page ) and open the spoilers that show the locations.

The exact official server is he one called "Discovery Freelancer RP 24/7", yet you could better recognize it by the fact that it has the highest player base.

Other than this... feel free to ask anything you need. Good luck and safe flights! Maybe we'll see each other in space some day.
Discovert Freelancer RP 24/7 is has 225 slots and is the one with the most players on IP 180.40.133.201

JH i is in the minefield G5, guarded by a Navy player base. You are also likely to get some heat as that is a restricted system.

Illinois about 25-30 k from Denver E/F 3
Welcome to disco Smile
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and answers!

This FL Companion solved all my problems pathfinding. It also helped me determine that very heavy fighters and gunboats are the ships I feel most confortable with and that anything bigger than a gunboat is a no-no for me. I just can't handle flying ships that big.

And don't worry: I'm not going to invade any restricted systems. I'm just fooling around in open SP trying ships in order to create my RP characters based on the ships I liked most.

That said, I'll take any suggestions for miner ships (no bigger than gunboats, please) and gunboats.
Hmmm, if you're into mining, i suggest going for the Arrastra ( http://www.discoverygc.com/wiki/MEMV-971...eavy_Miner ) as it's a Heavy Mining ship and holds all you need to mine in peace, making money along the way. (But there are other mining ships as well.)
If you're also interested in joining a faction, i believe the BMM or IMG are the best choices when relating to mining. (and trading) <- Of course, this is... after you decide to join the server itself and leave the open SP.

As for "restricted systems", it's not about a restriction, as much as something else. You see... most military factions, for example the Liberty Navy, have another affiliated Guard faction (i.e. Liberty Navy Guard). These Guard factions are generally hostile to all others, so their systems are well defended and "restricted", because they are a place where people can get the more powerful technology of the said faction (for example, buying cruisers and battleships). You first need to get a better rep with the normal faction in order to become neutral to the Guard faction and after that you may try to up your reputation with the said Guard. Still, i don't think this will interest you much if you don't like big ships anyway.
If you need a team to go mining with message me, we got a miner and some transports that are more that are more than happy to help you get used to mining in muiltiplayer Big Grin
It's not that I'm exactly into mining. It's just that I thought mining would be a good source of income to pay for my very heavy fighter equips. I was even thinking about RPing as a fighter/escort pilot that has 2 ships (a VHF and a miner) and occasionally mines to help pay the bills. Thanks for the miner suggestion, by the way. I'll be sure to test this ship ASAP.

I also may have been to hasty in my judgement about larger ships. I'll do some more testing before deciding about that.
And while we're talking about that, I do have another question: Is it possible/feasible to mine with cruisers/freighters? If so, could you guys suggest me some cruiser/freighter ships for that role?

And thanks, Slazen. I'll accept your offer as soon as I create my RP characters. Smile
Welcome to Sirius Menegroth, in most cases making money in that game is long and booring process, unfortunately. Still, if you want to play fighter/escort, Daumann offers you possibility to do so, as convoy escort, or fighter pilot, hessians are tough enemies. DHC has everything what Discovery can offer, moneymaking, combat and RP of course.

Once again, hello, and have fun!
