Uhm, welcome to the forums. If you're interested in joining a german Discovery skype chat, you can ask me.
If you're german skills already are average, you might even understand something or at least learn from it.
And yes, I'd suggest you to join a Rheinland official faction.
Thanks for the welcomes. I was planning on creating a Navy character and a miner/Trader. Might as well start in the Mining industry.
Then RM and DHC are exactly factions you are looking for! Don't hesitate, members of both factions will do their best to help you, apply!

If you are playing Rheinland, then DHC would be the way to make money there (and wherever the routes go). Just don't mention any other mining groups
The Military is a fairly good choice, but you can also get your 'combat fix' - other than any escorting you do for DHC - from the unlawful side. LWB and VWA (Bundschuh) are great if you are interested in either's RP, and of course the Hessians need more pilots for the meat-grinder!
