I think all barge jumpers have realized that since the return of the server from the DDOS attacks, multiple ship jumping is not working. This translates to many as 'my barge can't teleport no more'.
I have followed all the threads that adressed barge jumping as an OP feature of 4.86, and I have mostly agreed with those complaining about it. It's true, when used to powertrade, this feature makes the rich even richer, and the poor long haulers more exposed to the pirates, who now have to prey almost exclusively on faction indies and freelancer traders.
But there is another side to barge jumping. There are those among us who don't fill the barge with H3 and jump it straight to Southampton to dock it without the need of ferrying helpers. There are those of us who use the barge jump to supply bases and just that.
Player owned bases were supposed to change the server's economy, and they have. Now we have very interesting marketplaces all over Sirius, which gather a lot of people working to mine, haul and just roleplay among other activities. It has been the motor of a lot of contracts between groups, which again, brings player interaction.
What I'm saying is: yes, barge jump powertrading has decreased trade lane usage, but non-powertrading barge jumps, on the other hand, have boosted roleplay interaction between players.
What I propose (and it's not an idea of my own, should the person who originally thought of it want to identify himself here, you are welcome):
Make barges dockable only at player owned bases.
This will force powerjumpers to bring ferrying helpers along with them, and even security escorts, hence stopping the two-men-bargejump operations. This will also prevent the player owned bases economy to fall apart too.
Other than this, if you admins/devs/whatever insist on preventing barges from jumping, at least cut down the player owned base's needed daily supplies to, at least, half of what is nowadays required.
Edit (21/3): I've got an Idea...
Why not make a new module type for Player Owned Bases called Barge mooring point or something like that, and make barges only dockable there?
