Why not?
It stops people from wanting to return, if there were some really serious Zoners. Although there was the Neo-Terran Front, looking to do the whole sleeper ship a second (technically third if you include the Gemini and Orion) time.

And here I was thinking this was going to be a thread about Crayter Sad
K'Hara need to send a Suncrusher to New York. 8|
surely coalition would've developed more advanced technologies while the alliance ships were sleeping, and upon realising there were alien things about to destroy sol, they would'a launched sleeper ships of their own into the general direction the alliance were heading, and since they had better technology when leaving sol. upon arriving they could be coordinated by local coalition and expand themselves into nearby existing systems, and then there would be a final showdown between gallia, sirius, and coalition...? Also coalition technology has to be more advanced or of an entirely different type because they had time to develop technologies when the alliance were sleeping in their sleeper ships, and were able to track the alliance's location aome time after the sleeper ships arrived at sirius.
Some have suggested that would be a more suitable story than the French doing so, but it's not so relevant here.

If you haven't already, check out the extended intro to Freelancer. It was only a few days/weeks between the Sleeper ship launch around Jupiter to the last stand at Pluto and the destruction of Sol. The Coalition was too busy wiping the floor with the remnants of the Alliance to develop any sleeper ships and follow them.
