Faction Idea - Aurigae - 10-26-2008 Ghost Squad
Description Ghost Squad is a group of ships, originating Outcast and Corsair vessels that are buried at the Omicron-90 and Omicron Kappa graveyards. Power and AI Cores remain intact for a long time, when most subsystems, including life support, are shutted down, since the pilot is dead. Artificial Intelligence of the ship is logging actions of it's master all the time, analyzing what is he doing and acting like the master in the past. These ships are floating near the holes to the Nomad worlds, where the Nomad patrols are present. Due to intact cores and Nomad structure, that is approximately 90% energy and 10% jelly-alike biomatter, ships were absoring some amount of energy from the Nomads, collecting it in the power core to make a full restart. When the ship gains enough energy to restart the power core and lead the energy to the engines, the AI sets the last landing base as it's destination. On the bases the ships are getting repaired, where the mechanic teams are receiving commands from the ship's AI. Pilot cockpits are sealed - Life support system seals the cockpit when there is a very little amount of energy remains for the LSS. Since the data is not recording while the ship floats almost without energy, the AI operates in the "past", because new data is missing, and the sensors are picking up signals with wrong signatures, names, appearence et cetera. Comm system is availible to respond only if the ship receieves direct transmission. Everything else that happens doesn't worry them. Kill on sight. All missiles Ranking and Roster Supreme Ghost(1) - The Leaders of the Ghost Squad. He commands all operations, Supreme Phantoms ship AI is extremely improved and modified, capable of dealing with all situations that suddenly show up. Ancient Ghost(4) - The ships that awaked years ago, developing in most experienced warriors in the Ghost Squad. Ghost(8) - Combat and research veterans of the Squad. Their ships awakened not that long ago, but they're proven themselves as valuable addition to the GS. Spirit(Unlimited) - The ships that awake as spirits are the bomber class ships sometimes, as the Spectral Warriors, but AI is more advanced than the Warriors. Spectral Warrior(Unlimited) - Main power of the GS. These ships awake at both Outcast and Corsair graveyards recently, becoming a part of the Ghost fleet. Lost Soul(Unlimited) - Most recent awaken ships that are only to be accepted into the Squad's ranks. Faction Idea - Guest - 10-26-2008 As a side note, i too am taking a part of this ideas development and i am always reachable both pm and forum-wise with questions and concerns, we know that a faction that is semi hostile to itself is quite unusual, not to mention that our well known Harvesters might or might not look down on their..cousins if you may, yet still this is only a idea, so please, lets the comments flow. WHile very well thought out so as not to be OORP, it seems that having folks on both sides in the same faction will have a big target for a smiting stick. Very well thought out though, as I said pick one or the other and flesh it out. Well actually, the two sided faction was the general concept that led to the idea in the first place, so, no, sadly we cannot remove this without a serious reason. If you can't have both in one, how about splitting it and making two separate factions. After all there are two ship grave yards, one for the Corsairs and one for the Outcasts. And seeing as how they come from their individual graveyards and carry the memory of their original pilots, it would make sense that they don't know each other to start with. To me it seems two separate factions would make more sense. EDIT: Just saw Sindroms post, don't give up on it!!! Just try and alter it to make it fit. Faction Idea - Aurigae - 10-26-2008 Right, I wasn't sure about both OC and CS wings, so I've decided to put both for now and get the community's feedback. If so, I'll stick to Outcast wing. And it's my idea, Sindroms helped with developing it, and since he has no troubles with the net, he answers most questions. I'll edit the first post right away.
