N|-The Juniper Project (//Invite only story) - The Nemesis - 10-28-2020 Sender: Devin Blackwood Source Encryption: Yes Subject: Salvaged Tech. Ms.D’Aramitz, During the end days of the Gallic War we attacked a Gallic Weapons Convoy, on board in addition to an assortment of various personal arms there were also two large crates labeled "Propriété de l'Intelligence Royale Gauloise". After opening them we realized these weapons were something much more than your standard run of the mill heavy weapons. I was hoping you could take a look at them? Maybe you can identify what they are and what kind of ship can actually use them. Unfortunately most of the information is in Gallic. Up until now we have had no one in our ranks with the know how to interpret any of it. The Weapons are waiting in their crates on the 8 floor storage lock up. Password is :GR33NM4N RE: N|- Direct Line Islay-Kirkwall (//Invite only story) - Widow - 10-28-2020 Sender: Véronique D’Aramitz Source Encryption: Yes Subject:Tech that is salvaged? Mr. Blackwood. I am a bio-engineer, not a boom-stick monkey. However, these have sparked my interest just as much as they have yours. Being they are Propriété de l'Intelligence Royale Gauloise, I would believe they are not something you could purchase from the standard weapons dealer. In fact I would be surprised if you could purchase these from most military points either. A good find, Mr. Blackwood..... a good find indeed. All I can tell you for the time being is what the manuscript tells me; however, until we look into it further, I cannot guarantee the information is at all accurate. In saying that, this says these have been named "maulers", cruiser reactive mass drivers. It claims to be a weapon capable of giving retrofitted transport frames into what they call discount cruisers. It is said these are original, and not the knock off copies. It is a beauty of a find, this must have been a heavily protected convoy,... Either that or they were desperate. Being they are to change simple transports into higher fire power vessels, I would believe it was the latter. Unfortunately I cannot read any more, it seems this was damaged either in their hands, or during the battle in which you obtained them from. Give me time, Mr. Blackwood. between what I can read, and lab tests, I am sure I will be able to figure this out. And if I can't, I have some Enclave test subjects that have recently attempted escape - it will be entertainment for the masses. RE: N|- Direct Line Islay-Kirkwall (//Invite only story) - Widow - 10-29-2020 Sender: Véronique D’Aramitz Source Encryption: Yes Subject: Oops. Mr. Blackwood. Please disregard the alarms and the noise of panic and chaos in the background. Its my new... ambient track.... yeah, thats it, it's ambient noise to help me concentrate. I have two questions:
Of course, this is a hypothetical situation. A hypothetical situation that has nothing to do with accidentally firing a weapon inside at all, because only a real fool would actually do that. On a totally different topic with absolutely nothing to do with those questions at all, I've started to consider what I will do with lab testing. Before I start, I should point out the weapons are a lot more powerful than the usual transport turrets. I would suggest ensuring the weapons are powered down before attempting to transport these around the station..... obviously. For testing purposes not related to blowing a hole in the wall I do need a few loads of hull segments delivered, preferably by a repair crew. It would be appreciated if this was flagged as urgent. RE: N|- Direct Line Islay-Kirkwall (//Invite only story) - The Nemesis - 10-29-2020 Sender: Devin Blackwood Source Encryption: Yes Subject: ffs. *Devin wakes up in Torshavn's Hanging Gardens to am emergency alert of a hull breach on Kirkwall. Shocked, he prepares to move all available assets to respond to the Enclave surprise attack only to then get a priority message from D'Aramitz* You know, With the Cruiser vanishing in Edinburgh, and the Enclave evacuations I decided to try to get just a few moments of R&R in the Hanging Gardens. I had just popped some Synth Weed when suddenly...I start getting alerts that there has been a Hull Breach detected in the main hangars of Kirkwall. Are you familiar with the Enclaves battle strategy regarding Taureaus? He sighs That being said of course this is all "Hypothetical"...right? So, "Hypothetically", we could get a freighter and repair crew out there with in the next week, "Hypothetically" you'd have lost about 4 weeks worth of supplies and an unknown amount of pilfered goods. "Hypothetically" you should have about 2 weeks left worth of supplies on the station. Of course this is all "Hypothetical"....right? With those "Hypothetical" situations covered let me just say I am glad to see testing is going well. Keep up the good work. PS: Next time, try not to blow up my station, point it at something more interesting, like an Enclave prisoner. RE: N|- Direct Line Islay-Kirkwall (//Invite only story) - Widow - 10-30-2020 Sender: Véronique D’Aramitz Source Encryption: Yes Subject: Look on the bright side... Mr. Blackwood. Saying I'm trying to blow up the station is a bit of an over kill. It was only one wall. It could have been a lot worse. The rest of it is still fine; and anyway, look on the bright side, with how long the weapons have been locked away in the box, it must be good to know they still work.... Um.... hypothetically. Of course. What I was able to learn from the initial test fire is that the projectiles seem to use a matrix of volatile charges that spread a reactive payload over a wide area, causing stress fractures in armour plating. I would assume this is at the cost of reduced effectiveness against shields, bring the type of projectile it is. This would render it all but useless in battle until the shield has dropped. Perhaps paired with shield busters on the ship they are mounted on, or used in conjunction with a ship designed to keep the shields of the enemy vessels down these would be most effective. Obviously, against unarmoured structures, and finer metal such as the stuff you'd expect to find in..... say.... docking bays on stations; you should expect to not only see stress fractures, but the projectile seems capable of completely destroying what is in its way. Not that we know from first hand experience or anything. I have found a vessel in the cargo bay. The owner was a freelancer who decided to go for a swim in the vast depths of space when the hole that does not exist, did not appear in the wall. Bless his soul. I'm thinking since he won't need his freighter anymore I may turn it into a test vessel (see? Silver linings). I am so confident in the weapons abilities I might just allow an Enclave prisoner or three the opportunity to try escape the cargo bay of the ship and run for their freedom. Now we both know they will end up crispy in the fire as the ship burns, before they become mummified buddies in space due to the exposure of heat in the vacuum that is. But none of them would expect that to happen. Maybe I'll start taking bets. What do you think, Mr. Blackwood? How long will they survive? RE: N|- Direct Line Islay-Kirkwall (//Invite only story) - The Nemesis - 10-30-2020 Sender: Devin Blackwood Source Encryption: Yes Subject: .... Devin pinches the bridge of his nose while sighing heavily and responds through gritted teeth. I suppose you are right.......at least they still work. He ran his fingers through his hair I have dispatched a ship, the N|-Destroying.Angel, to make the needed repairs. I suggest staying out of the docking bay until the repair crews finish their work. As for the information you have uncovered is very exciting. I am quite excited to see about them getting their first trial run in actual combat. That being said, I will find the Prisoner Run quite enjoyable. You have the all clear for your little test just make sure not to hit the station, I expect a detailed report as to what happens to the freighter. Also, make sure the Enclave think that they bested us, should be more fun. Last but not least please ensure that there will be a few strike craft to destroy the prisoners in case the weapons fail to do the job. PS: I'll put 20 grand down on the Cannons burning them out of the sky. RE: N|- Direct Line Islay-Kirkwall (//Invite only story) - Widow - 10-30-2020 Sender: Véronique D’Aramitz Source Encryption: Yes Subject: Have a little faith in me. Mr. Blackwood. I'll hold off on the trial until the repairs are done. Otherwise I will absolutely be in the way, and that is probably a bad thing. The information I've uncovered I believe is only the start. Once we test these, we should know exactly how much damage they are able to cause. That is the part I am excited about. You are confident these weapons will work in one breath, but then in the next you want a fleet to make sure they don't get away. Trust me. It will all end perfectly. My plan was to spend a little time toying with them, letting them think they have managed to actually find freedom. Of course they will realise they haven't when the shields are... oh wait, that implies I would give them shields. What a silly thought. They will perish, and it will be by your shiny new toys. However, we have a small issue. As much as I would love to have hand cannons while I am soaring through the vast emptiness that is space, firing these guns off at the fleeing prisoners who believe they have been freed before they meet their death.... I would rather not die from asphyxiation or decompression before freezing to death. Not today anyway. I believe we might need a ship to continue the testing. If you can sort this out for us, I promise I'll behave. I'll even aim away from the station. RE: N|- Direct Line Islay-Kirkwall (//Invite only story) - The Nemesis - 10-31-2020 Sender: Devin Blackwood Source Encryption: Yes Subject: Hand.....cannons..... Good News and Bad News, Good News: Your work shows promise and I will personally be overseeing the continued progress of it, Bad News: Kirkwall doesn't have the infrastructure to continue supporting your work and you will have to be relocated. Pack your things, a shuttle is on its way to relocate you: The Guns, and any equipment you need here to Torshavn. It is time you begin assisting in The Mycelium Initiative. You will be granted administrative authority over one of the Cruisers being constructed, the chosen ship will have the turrets built directly into the hull as to make 100% sure that they are both properly secured and mounted. Further more, while we were both excited to see Gallics receive the first shot, we have a handful of Cretan Prisoners who I am sure are equally excited to be first in line. PS: Hand Cannons? Really? We are going to have to talk about these ideas of yours. Perhaps over tea. RE: N|-The Juniper Project (//Invite only story) - Widow - 10-31-2020 Sender: Véronique D’Aramitz Source Encryption:Yes Subject: Iceblocks, anyone? Mr. Blackwood. Of course my work shows promise. It shows promise because it is me that is doing it, and I demand nothing less than perfection...... with a touch of chaos in the mix, of course. Once I have access to a ship, I will be able to tell you some far more interesting statistics as well, like how much of the power core it drains, what the quickest refire time is, you know.... the stuff you want to know before you go into battle. On the topic of weapons though, we can discuss hand cannons, but I would far prefer coffee over tea. As for your bad news, and moving me from Kirkwall... I am a little confused as to why it doesn't have the infrastructure all of a sudden. Is this because I blew a hole in the side of your station? Its because I blew a hold in the side of the station isn't it. I knew that it would come to this. If that is how this will be, I will pack my gear. However, I am going to be flying in formation with your shuttle. Fred the Freelancer who went for a swim said I could keep his ship, either as my own or as the test ship. I heard him say it as he was sucked out of the hole in the wall. Conveniently no one can actually confirm this since he's now a block of ice, and very dead. So I guess its mine now. RE: N|-The Juniper Project (//Invite only story) - The Nemesis - 10-31-2020 Sender: Devin Blackwood Source Encryption: Yes Subject: Oh for the love of.... Well, I suppose since it's owner's dead and there was no one around to argue there is no point in letting a perfectly good ship rust away. I'll let you keep it. Further more I would like to clarify it isn't because you blew a whole in the sta-.... Ok yes, its 100% because you blew a whole in the station, also Kirkwall doesn't have a Dry Dock for constructing Cruisers, now if you don't mind getting here so we can get to work that would be great. |
