Hard decisions and hard time - Elvinos2003 - 12-13-2022

The 11th December, the military had finally tractored Nina Rodriguez's pod. When her ship got destroyed, must of the time, the military didn't have the opportunity to take her pod. But on that date, the opportunity showed up to them. They had to use the service of a mercenary to take her ship down and once done, the cruiser, the KKS-Ostkantone had tracted her pod. Its crew prepared a cell specilized to countain a criminal. Fortunately for the crew, the transfer from the cargo bay to the room in question went peacefully. The corsair has lost consciousness after her pod rejected from her destroyed gladiator. They putted her on the ground and locked the entrance.

Because it was a cell, everyone passing by could see the person locked there. After several hours, the corsair finally gain her consciousness. She grumbled. As she tried to reach a wall to rest a bit more comfortable than the ground, the first question that came to her was the following one: Where was she? Once to the wall, the young woman with crimson hair turned on herself and found out she was in a cell. She let out a sigh. ''How great...'' Nina Rodriguez was pissed being captured. Her look changed from confusion to agressivity.

Some minutes passed and a noise of a gliding door caught her attention. Someone was coming. Who was it? That's what Nina asked to herself. The corsair kept silence trying to figured who it could be. It was impossible. Due of the echoe of the sound, it was hard to guess who it might be. The sound of the steps got louder. The person was near. Then, a man appeared. Nina spat at the ground of the cell when she saw the man. It was a man within the fifties. His rank was different from what she saw on Traudel's uniform some days ago. She couldn't say what was his rank because she knew nothing from the military ranks but it was probably a high ranked old man. Unlike him, Nina did not have any sign of any rank on her black coat nor on her black pants. However, she was a centurion within The Brotherhood. She was, probably, the youngest centurion they ever had in their ranks.

At this moment, no one knew that she was captured by the military and even if the corsairs ended up to know, they will do nothing for her. A sad reality for any captive corsair. Proud as always, Nina was playing the though guy but it could lead to a no return of freedom.

FregattenKapitan Stahl had a big grin on his face while walking.
He had lost some prestige over the years for his too aggressive methods of getting results. The admirals had demoted him some weeks earlier for disobeying orders. His easily angered temper didn't help him convincing Oberkommando either.

But now he could finally regain his pride. He got a very wanted prisoner! This was his ticket back to rejuvenate his career! It costed a lot of ships and resources to take her out, but in the end it would all be worth it! He arrived at the prison cell, then took a good look at the woman sitting behind the glass. She was wearing only a simple black uniform. “So much for a Crimson Queen”, he mocked to himself. He stirred in his moustache a bit and then entered like he was the lead of a fanfare.

When entering, Nina looked at him with pride and defiance.
"Ah Nina, you’re finally awake…" "I must admit you have been a thorn in my eye for a long time. But as you can see, I can be quite persistent as well!" He kept stirring in his large moustache. "Now that you have had plenty of time to rest, I’m gonna make sure that I will squeeze every bit of information out of you..." he mumbled in a grim tone.

RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Elvinos2003 - 12-14-2022

She simply laughed to the old man. What made her laugh was what he said. He said that himself he can be persistent. ''You are persistent? You are an old man sitting in chair and enjoying the view. There's nothing persistent in that.'' Still sitting on the ground, her back resting on the wall, the corsair stared at the man. ''I wish you good luck to get any information from me because I won't talk. People like you get hardly what they want.''

Already, the corsair did not help herself to et out of here. Instead, she just ade fun of FregattenKapitan Stahl. Because she was unarmed, it would be hard to using violence to get out of here and naturally, men are stronger than women. That reality pissed Nina but even so, she was strong. She always had a strong personnality. ''So what you gonna do? I wonder if you are even capable of everything to get what you want. From what I saw of your army, it is almost a joke to get rid off their ships.''

Stahl raised his chin. He started breathing heavily. Inner rage always took control over him quickly.
Who on Berlin did she think she is!
"You little brat! Once i'm done with you, you'll squeek differently!" He was about to punch her.
"I'll show you some persi-"

"Kapitan?" Stahl turned around.
"What?!" he shouted.
Gunter Kunrad, one of his Assistant-Leutnants, stood at the door.
"Oberkommando wants to speak to you, Herr. It seemed urgent."
"Verdammt!" he shouted inside his own head. "You're lucky Nina! Seems we will have to delay our date for another time!"
He ran towards the door and barked:
"You better get her talking while i'm gone!" "Do NOT dissapoint me Kunrad!"
"I... Herr?" Gunter stumbled. He did not expect to interrogate someone so suddenly. Let alone he has no experience whatsoever!
He looked at the Corsair. So this was the woman they were chasing for such a long time. They were enemies but he couldn't help but feeling intrigued by her.
Managing to disable so many of hour fighters and being able to run away every time. He chuckled on the thought of Stahl's frustrations everytime she ran away.
How would he start? He wasn't really one for direct threats unlike his CO.

**MEANWHILE**

Oberleutnant Traudel Habermeyer was passing down a hallway nearby. She was waiting in the KKS-Ostkantone for the reparations of her ship from the heavy fighting she had to endure with the Corsair. Turns out her luck ran out that day as she crossed the path of a rather irritated FregattenKapitan Stahl.

"And you, Habermeyer!" Stahl barked again. "You faced this Corsair many times before, so you must know her in some way!" "At least make yourself useful on this ship and help Leutnant Kunrad with the interrogation!" "They are in cell A2!" He then rushed off to the command center without waiting for a reply.

"Maybe if i... nein, nein that wouldn't work either. Gah. C'mon, think. What could we d-" Oberleutnant Habermeyer snaps to attention without thinking much about it, ending her train of thought right there and then. In her peripherial vision a higher-up was noticed, a second later he stood nearby and screamed at her to do something.

"Jawohl, Herr Fregattenkapitän!" Blinking a few times after Stahl had moved on, Traudel exhales and checks her surroundings, finding her way to cell A2. This was difficult. Most difficult. Traudel's steps lead her down to the brig, passing other personnel aboard the cruiser. Bright blue eyes staring straight ahead, sometimes through other colleagues. Pressure had taken hold of her thoughts, no, her entire being.

"I can't do this. If i do it, i'm done. They'll toss me in there with her immediately - or out the airlock.", thoughts ran wild. On the outside was not much to see, just another Rheinwehr member, maybe a bit tense, going about their day. At this point Habermeyer had developed at least a little bit of experience handling her nervousness and how to mask it.

Having reached the detainment area, Traudel looks around. Taking in the scene. There was a man, most likely Leutnant Kunrad, about to enter the holding cell already. Thick security door opened by him. The only way in and out of the cell itself, with a little slot to push a food tray in. Next to the door, on the typical greenish metal wall, a monitor. Showing a constant live transmission from different angles of the inside. Minimalistic would be an understatement. A single chair and bed, even though the word 'bed' was a very diplomatic way to describe the simple metal plate protruding from the wall exactly across the room - no blankets. Comfort was not even an afterthought, as to be expected from a holding cell comfort was as far away as possible. Aside from the most basic form of sanitary installation to relief oneself the room was barren. Walls of rheinlandic craftsmanship, cold and soulless, all equal to each other, nothing to keep the mind occupied for long.

Staring at the monitor, Traudel freezes for the shortest of moments. Seeing an all too familiar combination of red and black, the only real speck of color in there. For but a moment her eyes are closed, oh what she would give if this was just some other Corsair! Traudel does not step in behind Gunter to follow immediately, instead the pilot remains out of sight and closer to the monitor.
"Leutnant Kunrad? Oberleutnant Habermeyer - Fregattenkapitän Stahl sent me to assist with your interrogation."

When the old man left, Nina Rodriguez pulled out her tongue. After, she stared at the newcomer. He seemed to be a lower rank than the old man. She smirked. ''Now, someone else is here to try to get information from me? How funny. I told to the old man he will get nothing and it will be the same thing as you even if you are younger than him.'' That's what she said to the newcomer who seemed to be named Kunrad. Still sitting on the ground, the corsair showed no weaknesses.

Before Traudel would come, Nina Rodriguez simply stared the man with murder eyes and at the same time, she smirked. ''You are lucky. I have no weapons on me.'' The sound of the door happened again. Someone else is coming. Who will it be? That's what she asked once more to herself. It took some minutes and the voice of a woman was heard by the man and the corsair. It was Traudel. The corsair began to stress a bit. It was not physically showed but deep inside her, she did not want Traudel sees her being like this, in a cell. How both would need to act? Acting like strangers? It would be easy if their relation was something else.

Nina was slowly standing up because she was tired being to the ground. When she was on her feet, the corsair was not taller than Kunrad. She was a bit more smaller. But her reputation was big enough to be known in Rheinland. Especially known to the military because she managed to escape must of the times they tried to get her and she was known to destroy a lot of their vessels as well.

Gunter didn't like doing something without a plan, but he could improvise when necessary. He was a calculated man after all. He got his thoughts together, and was about to pull the doorhandle.
Then he heard footsteps coming from behind him.
"Leutnant Kunrad? Oberleutnant Habermeyer - Fregattenkapitän Stahl sent me to assist with your interrogation."
Gunter turned. "Ah, Traudel! It's great to see you again. I assume you are here to help with interrogating the Crimson Queen?"
Something was off... He could see Traudel shivering very lightly. Her eyes were wide open, almost like she had an internal panic attack.
He wanted to ask if everything was alright, but he knew that if he didn't get something out of the Corsair in time, an angry Stahl might jeopardize his entire career.
"Perhaps it might be better you stay here a little until you feel... ready." "I suggest you follow the monitor for now until you're better." "Knock the window if you need anything.

He opened the same door again and entered the room. There she was, the woman he and his crew were chasing for such a long time.
The woman he saw looked like she was ready for a war with him. "Shame", he thought to himself. "This is the kind of pilots we need right now."
Nina noticed him researching her. "Now, someone else is here to try to get information from me? How funny."
"I told to the old man he will get nothing and it will be the same thing as you even if you are younger than him."

Gunter ignored her provocations. He knew if he talked to her the same way she did to him, it would be a losing fight to ever get something out of her.
He slowly paced around the room, kept researching her from left and right.
Not getting a response, Nina continued. "You are lucky." "I have no weapons on me."

He gave a light smile. "If you would have had any weapons Corsair, you would have been shot on sight by every crewmember in this Cruiser." "I guess that makes us both lucky in a way." He continued his slow pace from left to right.
This time just looking the way he was walking.
"Nina was it?" "You have to know Nina, you don't have to give us information." "That is your fullest right." "But then we both know how this is gonna end."
He finally stopped pacing and stood right in front of the Crimson Queen.
"I am Leutnant Gunter Kunrad and i will be the one interrogating you. I know you are though Nina, and i'm pretty sure you will resist us in any way possible."
"Know that this is fine for me. I have all the time in the world."
That was a blatant lie though. He knew Stahl would return at one point, but she didn't need to know that.
"You on the other hand," he continued, "can keep wondering in this cell how we fight your men without your leadership."
He now looked straight in her eyes like he was trying to read her mind. "The ball is in your court, Nina."

RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Elvinos2003 - 12-15-2022

For some reasons, Gunter Kunrad closed Nina's mouth simply by saying: "If you would have had any weapons Corsair, you would have been shot on sight by every crewmember in this Cruiser. I guess that makes us both lucky in a way." He was right. However, she started laughing once more. ''Now, a lieutenant will interrogate me? Your superiors must trust you. However, you need to understand that I do not lead any men. I am here alone and by myself, I managed to reduce a bit the number of your fighters.'' In her eyes, she was trying to defy him.

''So it's Gunter. I suppose you already know who I am because you know my title and not only that but my name as well. She chuckled. ''Anyway, I will still not tell you about anything. Let's play a game. How about I waste your time by saying nothing? I know I will remain here but you will gain nothing and that's the important thing.''

RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Traudel Habermeyer - 12-15-2022

"Gunter, ja gut to see you too. Glad we are all in one piece here. I believe i saw you at the Oktoberfest with someone. Someone you knew? Never had the chance to approach, i was leaving just as you arrived i think. Getting changed. Ah, no matter now." Traudel turns to look at the door, then back to him. She was indeed somewhat tense still, eyes mainly telling the story. But those eyes were not all too uncommon in those recently returning from combat. "Initially not, just waiting over at Schwerin and recovering from the ongoing combat situation. You know me, i ... came from a comm-station aboard the Sprotte. Well, i waited aboard the Schwerin while my Valkyrie is repaired. But Stahl requested me over here, then send me down to you. My previous encounters with her apparently make me a choice for that. I do not object, it is reasonable."

Traudel nods, redirecting her attention to the monitor.

"Being a bit shaken is not uncommon for me, i can work with it. But by all means, bitte. Go ahead with her. I'll watch, observe and see what we have to work with here."

RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Arne - 12-16-2022

He didn't react to the provocations. Taunting never really got to him. Sometimes he was a bit suprised of his own coldness in these situations, but in the end he saw it more as a blessing than a curse.
The words she said after however, were the ones he decided to go into.
"Of course i know who you are, Nina." You have made yourself quite infamous around our men."
"But no matter, you are here now."

He kept standing in front of her in a calm, unthreatening way.
"Games i do not play." "If you want to say nothing to me, that's fine." "I have no personal quarrel with you." "You may hate me, but i don't hate you."

His tone then changed slightly, almost unnoticably more grim.
"But i will tell what will happen then, and don't take this as a threat from me but an honest truth."
He took a deep breath, as it suddenly felt harder for him to speak.
"I will report to FregattenKapitan Stahl i could not get anything out of you." "Will he be angry at me? For sure, but it will be nothing compared to what he will do to you."

"You know what he did to his previous prisoner Nina?"
His voice went more silent just thinking back of it.
"He skinned that prisoner alive... alive!" "And... and.." He stumbled again over his words.
Even someone as calm and calculated as him could not erase that image he was forced to witness a few weeks back.
A very rare event happened that day. For a very few seconds, fear was seen in Gunter's eyes.
He shook his head real quick and managed to get himself slightly back toghether. He continued, still in a silent and slighty frightened voice, as he was talking to himself. "...And the worst part of that was Nina, he didn't let him die... no... He let him rot in the cell with his wounds."
"Days of screaming until his body finally succumbed." "For this prisoner, death was a sweet release."

His voice finally got back to normal, he could act himself again.
"What i'm trying to say Nina, there are worse fates than death." "And i would hate to see another one sharing a similar fate."
"If you are able to help me, i will see what i can do to make your punishment lighter." "No guarantees though. The final word is still to my Commanding Officer."
"But if you are convinced that i'm bluffing, i will not waste anymore of both our times and you are free to find out yourself."
