Mining is something that is generally looked at from differing perspectives. What is your preference? Please speak only for yourselves - you're adult people, everyone can type their own opinion on that matter.

I would like mixed mining zones so that singular bases have more to do and offer in a given area

Old mining in mixed zones should not be a thing. It wouldn't really matter if you have nu-mining for a valuable ore in a field of an old-school low value mineable, but two old-mining zones overlapping is a nightmare. I wouldn't wish the water jettisoning experience of cryo mining on my worst enemy.

RE: Community Input: Mixed Mining Zones - Eternal.Journey - 12-19-2024

This would depend on its implementation, though we all thoroughly enjoyed mining crystals in U4 for ages only to realise that you would end up with a decent portion as alien organisms. Or, as @TheSauron pointed out above, mining them lovely cryos only to have to keep ejecting water. Whats the scope of intended implementation? Normally people mine simply to mine commodity A for their purposes and thats all they want.

Is there some mix that would be a benefit for those of us who mine? something we may be missing out on when it comes to shooting rocks?

My concern with mining at all is vastly different from miners. Nu Mining takes way longer for most people when compared to old mining, from my experience, because I can generally catch and pirate miners in NuMining fields from 3 and 4 systems away, whereas miners aiming at old fields can be on and off ≤1 system travel time.

Given that, for the most part, I don't mine or powertrade, I assume old mining fields are better in active areas and new mining fields are better in inactive areas for the miners profits. My profits have been enjoying Nu-Mining, though.

I love the new mining, I also like mindless old mining. But as already brought up, overlapping fields are to much, let me clickly click without real deep thinking or let me mine the fancy stuff. But trying to mine the fancy stuff and losing the occasional shot to the old ore item is slightly burdensome

I have been hesitant to speak up about this as best I can tell "NuMining" seems to be extremely popular. However, given the current polling (20 votes at time of writing) it seems to be a relatively mixed bag. Which is how I see it being best.

There are definitely certain ores I think on a RolePlay level benefit from this concept mainly the "Rock" ores (Gold, Silver, Copper, Platinum) however, there are other ones that I don't (personally) think make much sense to have the need to utilize heavy military grade equipment to break up mainly materials like Scrap Metal(s), Azurite Gas, Heavy Water In these cases I believe that traditional mining works best. It is for this reason that I believe a mixed approach is the way to go.

As for overlapping fields, I think this is just a bad design concept point blank period especially given the facts that MilSal has a "low" mining rate (no bonuses, and low drop rates)

I admit this post is largely personal opinion and not based on any object data so much as personal anecdotal experiences.

Bring different mining things over different systems, hard to see only 1 system have such ore or something, but definetely, i hate those "Mixed" twerps mining fields, i read someone in Uncharted we don't get water, but still i am seeing getting water ¬¬ damn, be serious is crazy other object is actually making a mess on same field, while some fields are understandable (like military salvage where is okay to have dual mining things because is at least referenced)
I have seen for example in all "Alien Microorganisms mining" mine 1K of Alien Microorganisms or scrubbies but 4K of "Water" ¬¬
give at least a denial zone for certain things, or imagine mining ore and get filled with scrap metal xD
or hydrocarbons and get oxygen instead ...

I will just let some idea of "Area Denial" where you get certain commodity guaranteed even if i get less loot per shoot a guaranteed is better than hoping you get what you deserve ... overything outside let's say, 2K sphere of that zone, is gonna be mixed or other mined element in there ... or for the scrap with salvage, make 2 deposits in same system, can be one near other or make the denial zone for other things, so it could be fun ...

Can i propose a system to "Autominer"? imagine this, it will be a depot or something who will mine for you for a prize, it will take his time (usually slightly longer) but will cost you or even can speed up your feed ... but i think the denial could be sufficent enough

RE: Community Input: Mixed Mining Zones - StellarViss - 12-19-2024

I prefer nu mining as it is better for my wrist as avoiding the requirement to hold right-click for a whole mining op is really good but I haven't had the chance to use the new mechanic with IMG| members so I am unsure how fast we would be able to mine said ore with the new mechanic. As for old mining it should be kept as it is you can still mine Gold the old way if you go to the gold buoy located in the center should be same for the platinum.

Auto miners are just a bad idea. I would like to avoid seeing afk miners sitting in space next to the zone and the amount of bots that could be made to do so would be annoying.

RE: Community Input: Mixed Mining Zones - SeaFalcon - 12-19-2024

If you want to do mixed fields, do the Nu-Mining as a different resource while the regular rocks can be something else.

Floating rocks that give different resources, even if visually different, is tedious. No one is really shooting rocks for fun to begin with.
It's just part of the money-making loop, so why make it more cumbersome?

If and when Nu-mining is added to other fields, please add an infocard to the rocks with instructions on how to work it.
