Do I need to get permission from anyone to role play a House politician (not House leader) if I'm a leading figure in a house military or can I help myself to it?

To be case specific, I'm talking about Rheinland wherein the military has been settling most political issues in-character, ever since Virus. Even though I get into politics with my RM main character often enough already, it simply feels a bit off to get myself involved in trade regulations and external relations as a military leader rather than a politician, hence I felt the need to set up a 'universal' Rheinland politician character, involved only when such things are to be amended.

While we're at it, lore-wise what degree of influence do military leaders have in the Rheinland Reichstag? (or Bundestag, it should be)

Admin opinion preferred.

As rule-wise politicians hold no power, I think it's okay.

If you wanna RP a politician, go for it. You don't really need an admin opinion as there is nothing in the rules saying that you can't do it.

It would be to your benefit though to let the people who play in your district know your intents.

There's a guy playing in bretonia & that guy RP's a Green Front candidate...it sorta confused one of the NLH members one day when he assumed it was me. (that character & my character share the same first name only)

Anyhoo, just do it & see how it works for ya:cool:

Aye, 'tis OK, but unless you have an approval from the officials, you don't get any authority or anything amongst them. But you should ask someone from QCG about that... I believe houses have some rosters.

To answer your question, you can RP a politician without any inside permission, but that doesn't mean anyone will give a damn. Well, so the rumor says.

K, thanks. I guess I'll give it a shot.

Though, anyone knows what to what degree this "military dictatorship" thing in Rheinland is canon? I've mainly been hearing it from non-Rheinland players, but to some degree high-ranking officers have political influence or a seat in the Bundestag too, right?

the problem with claiming power is that there is no basis for power to be claimed.

one can RP an admiral, but it won t be his rank that determines his power over others - but his reputation ( in the best case ) or his official status ( in an acceptable case ).

personally, i am very much against players taking up roles of leaders of entire factions. players can take up roles of advisors or people very close to the leaders, but not the leaders themselves. - but thats just one opinion.

what defines a leader ( and every politician is a leader of sorts ) is that he is qualified to lead someone - someone that wants to be led. ( or is forced to be led )

disco has no voting system - and installing one might not work that well anyway. - disco also lacks character reputation - but instead comes along with a player reputation ( no matter what chars they play )

high postcount players that are perceived as "veterans" can "feel" the perception quite well - when they make a no-name account on the forum and fly some common lowbie char ingame - especially the forum receives a member quite different from the "veteran account"

making a politician is easier for a "veteran" - a newbie won t have the reputation to be recognized as a leader, no matter his decisions. - but the "democratic" part about disco is - everyone can gain the reputation in time.

You could try to get all Rheinland factions to vote on political issues.
Get them in a table, also get Volksfront into that table, and maybe RP opportunites appear.

And my thought about Rheinland military dictarship is that it exists, because all threaties were made by them, there is no democracy on Rheinland.

So give it a try.

The QCG (Kingdom of Bretonia) is the faction Leaders of all of the Bretonian lawful factions, (Gateway, BMM, BAF, BPA, PlanetForm, and a couple of indies.) We hold polls or voting on a spreadsheet that pass the laws, and all the members are pretty much important Government officials.

The best idea is probably to do exactly this. Get the faction leaders of the Lawful factions all together in a skype chat and a couple of people that might be interested in helping, and then...discuss.

oh hellz no. Republican will not sit at the same (sans interrogation) table with those...those malcontent fearmongers.

:P

There have been talks about a Rheinland government before, but they always fall through. RepEx is interested in participating though.
