Good Encounters... and Bad ones - Zapp - 01-07-2008

OK, I'll list my top THREE (3) pet-peeves on Discovery for you.

1.) People idling over Manhattan
2.) Bots that are impossible to kill

And the clincher, numeroooo...

TRES!) RP-less traders!!!

Here's an example of a good encounter:

Good Encounter Uno

Good Encounter Dos

And here's a bad one, right after the aforementioned good encounter:

Bad Encounter Uno

Bad Encounter Dos

Now, notice how after the good encounter, we continued talking in 'green chat' in a very polite RP manner. I like this. This tends to earn you not only my respect, but a hefty discount/I'll just pass with a hello and wave next time.

Notice how after the bad encounter, we continued talking in 'green chat' in a very non-polite ooRP manner. I hate this. I wanted to beat the crap out of this noob just because of it. I did kill him in the end; not only was my ship better equipped, but I was a way better pilot. Anyway, he continued calling me noob and other such slanders, so I just left him alone and proceeded on my way, secure in the knowledge that I was better than him in almost every way I can think of.

Just me venting, folks. Nothing to see here, move along...

Hmmm.. Best get in line Zapp me ol' Bud,
If theres anything left of that sorry trader after me and the [RM] fraction have vented our rage then be my guest.

You see, this trader is the cause of my shiny new Fillings. All the times I have ground my teeth and refused the urge to let rip with Every thing I have (Ship wise and word wise)
To make it worse for him he then continued to New Berlin and successfully Pe'ed em all off..

Here is one of my many encounters with this guy:

As you can see from my Hull damage he had help from a re-engaging Adv. Train.
Can't show the run up to this as some other childish trader was swearing his head off at me...

But.. I guess we are going to have to get used to this.. All our long time disco boys are leaving and these "Noobs" take there place.. *Sigh*

I'll try to hold you back next time Zapp

Edit: My god, Grave digging my old freelancer shots.. Almost every other shot has either "F**k You" or "Your Dead, I'm getting my other ship"

I always enjoy every conversation with you Zapp. Like I do with any other RPer on the server.

I like the last sentence of him on your screens the best XD

I can think of many other cases of great oorp-ness maybe I'll find some screens of it.

Edit - here it is. And Zapp is on it, too :)

I'll admit- when I first joined Disco I was little rough around the edges of the whole RP idea. By the time I was out of my Camara though, I was into it.

Now when I'm trading (see; often), I'm a little sad when a pirate doesn't interrupt my hours of senseless niobium-diamond exchanging. It adds a bit of thrill and some RP to an otherwise quiet and dull trade route.

In some ways I'm a bad RPer, I admit, I don't like paying pirates, and prefer to run and give them a chase...(especially when they tax a crazy amount of money)

Like earlier, I was jumped by 2, who demanded a crazy amount of cash, so I ran, they caught me, brought my hull down to near nothing, and I cut engines, and was about to give them their cash, as showing my defeat, when they blew me up. (all in RP of course, since I did initially run)

I too am SEVERLY annoyed by these traders that seem to hold their lives very cheeply.

I personally have come to realize that simply destroying one of these traders isn't enough. My solution is to destroy any cargo pods they have and reduce their hull to a quivering, barly-held-together mass of metal.

I know this thread is more about bashing traders that don't roleplay but in my trader I have yet to meet a pirate that roleplayed more then saying halt (no name nothing) when there are 4-5 ships in the area who the heck are you talking to and I don't even know if your the police, a pirate or just joe schmo playing pranks. Also giving me 5 seconds to respond when I am trying to move my advanced train through trade gates, asteroids, etc is not really realistic when I don't even know your talking to me.

I wish I knew what every single guild tag meant but their are many that are not faction based and there seem to be more and more everyday. Also demanding 2mil from a trader that has just undocked with a new load of supplies that are maybe worth 500k is not really good roleplay to begin with, make it realistic and I would be more then happy to roleplay, I would prefer not to die but I am not going to pay you 4 times what my cargo is worth before I even get started on my trip. Not to mention pirates camping the main hubs like Manhatten, New Berlin, New Londen etc and not being chased by NPCs is poor form also.

I guess what I am trying to say here is that both sides have issues for sure and I would love to be pirated by someone that wants more then a couple million credits.

Well, someone in an adv. train passed through Edinburgh yesterday claiming to be a supporter of Gaians. So of course I chased him down in my bomber - he was nice enough to wait at the jump hole rather than running through. I had him in my sights then, and could've asked for a mil or two since he was in an adv. train, but I just asked for a 500k donation. He gave me 700k, and asked that we keep him in mind if we need any supplies or weapons smuggled to Islay. So, a good experience.:)

And in my RHA gunship, I had a bad one - Zapp, you were there too, I'm sure you remember that party we had in Sigma-13 with BLS and RHA, right before the big Unioner invasion. A container transport just said "kill me, insurance will cover it."

I guess you pirates haven't seen me in awhile....I pay pirates all the time. I like to negotiate too. Pirates gotta pay the bills too.

Yet another new RP behavior discussion thread?

My ALG trader is going the same way like AlecRazec. I look in the chat log and take a route where pirates are active.
Just for interaction with other players, to dirupt the boredom of credit collecting. Very often, maybe 70% percent of the time i'm in RP. Means, hauling waste to Dortmund and from there MOX, ship hull parts and high temperature alloy to Liberty, Bretonia and Kusari. Then the profit is small and i don't like to be taxed, but nevertheless i do pay now. At the beginning i tried to run.

More frustrating is demanding contraband and fining smugglers in my KNF char. Til i do typing the typical message, they are up and away. So i warn them, if i catch them next time with contraband, i will do what i can to shoot them down immediately. These smugglers are on my KNF chars black list. The reason is, i want to hold my fighter and don't get a Bomber. So i have the choice between Train CD and the Mini Razor. The Mini Razor i need to fight enemy capships and KNF has many enemies.

@ AlecRazec: Try other trade routes. There are many with good profits and the diamond-niobiu isn't the best.

Respectful
AoM
