IONCROSS/DMod Server Issues - timmychen - 02-27-2008

It's not really much of an issue, but there are many "UNKNOWN" factions/bases/etc showing up on IONCROSS. Of course, I consulted the almighty readme, and it said:

Code:
IONCROSS Freelancer Server Operator was DESIGNED for (and tested on)
MODDED servers.  If your mod adds new weapons, cargo, ships,
factions, systems, bases, or pretty much ANYTHING to the original
Freelancer, you can add the new information to the corresponding
GAMEDATA txt file in the program's folder.  Once you add your new
objects' nicknames and hash codes to the GAMEDATA files, the editor
will work with the new ships and objects.

I took a look inside the IFSO gamedata TXTs, and it looks like what I was looking for. However, when I go into my freelancer folder, all the files end in all kinds of different extensions.

Now, I'm pretty sure this just me being ignorant, so - How do I add Discovery informaton onto IFSO?

Thanks,
Capt. Poo

Pretty sure you drag the TXT files in the IONCROSS folder in your Discovery directory into the IFSO folder.

Arrgh. New question:

Is it possible to give other people access to moderate the server?

IONCROSS/DMod Server Issues - BULLDOGNK - 03-01-2008

Yes

Using remote desktop from microsoft or a product called Radmin, do a google search and you will find them.

Cheers

Alright! Just got Radmin and now I'm waiting for a friend to come online to test it out..

Thanks!

Be advised that radmin in some antivirus software shows up as a virus, because it is taking control of some aspects of your PC.

xD Yeah, my friend tried downloading it and he said "Uh... Tim, this program you sent me has a trojan.." heh. Now I know.:P

Oh yeah, and Radmin works beautifully. ^^

Alright, well, here's my full dilemma:

I want to run a FL server, which requires having a computer on almost 24/7. My mom won't allow me to keep this computer on overnight, but she will allow our crappy Windows98 to be on. My friends and I join my network on Hamachi and we play via LAN. Unfortunately, Hamachi doesn't work on Windows98, so there's no way for my friends to connect unless it's an internet game. I made it "internet accessible" and asked them to put "-sxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2302"* (without the quotes) in their FL shortcut, then asked them to connect. As far as I know, this method should work since it's what I used to successfully connect to the Discovery RP server. However, it doesn't show up for them. Is there anything that I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,
-Timmy
