A day in the life of a pirate - Backo - 09-05-2011

Good day, my dear community. It has come to my attention that many traders believe they can run away from the pirate, some don't even bother to talk about it. So after a lot of thinking, I have decided that it must be someone not doing his job correctly and giving them the feel that they -may- be able to escape, unharmed.

So here I am, all selfless and all, here to give you a few extra tips on how to pirate more efficiently:
  • When writing demands and the likes, be sure to have the CD accessible with only one click of the mouse. You have 2 easy ways to do this, a) map the Disruptor key on scroll wheel click or simply setup and turn on a weapon group that has the Disruptor turned on.

  • When a trade decides to pay you via trade screen, make sure you watch him closely as he could just be using it as a cover to run into the lane or simply cruise away. They're slippery little ones, they'll do their best to escape, trust me!

  • When the trader is stalling, taking too long to respond and all that, but still has pretty decent English vocabulary, he's most likely trying to pull some back up. So if you sense he's trying to do that, start getting more rough, show him you don't want him to stall.

  • If by some chance he manages to pull off some back-up, that isn't going to kill you fast enough, feel free to focus on the trader. Sometimes they kick into their senses when they realise the law can't save them. If they don't feel free to trash regardless. But keep in mind the longer you stall trying to kill him, the bigger the chance more back-up will arrive.

  • If you catch someone slippery, who managed to get away from you. Try to do your best to not do the same mistake.

  • The cake is a lie.

  • When you're with a friend, pirating as a duo, it's always good to have one of you watch the lane even when there's a transport you're pirating at the moment. Two's better then one, no?

  • If you sense something that's surely going to beat you, run for the hills (asteroids in your case) and shake said force off. You're running high risks, no point to die and lose the system, just move to the next, knowing you could always return if you have to.

  • The trader is not your friend. Even if he acts cheering and supportive, always think he might have a back-up plan to screw you hard.

  • Be reasonable with your price, but if the trader costs you time, don't feel bad to increase said price. If he's really desperate to save his cargo, after wasting 5 minutes of your time and attention to the lane, he'll surely pay some extra 500K or maybe a million.

  • Player list. Yeah, it's metagaming, yeah you'll be called the devil if you use it, but if you're not pirating on California's lane to New York, you're sure as hell going to need it to catch something in the not so populated systems.

  • And now the most wonderful truth of all. Traders will almost always try to get back on you for something. The more they care about the money, the more they'll focus on that. It's proven. My "best friend" who I pirated sometimes twice in a roll, that was in a Vigilante ID Shire (long story) is now a proud captain of a Rheinland Military Battleship. So no, you don't need to feel sorry, unless you've been a complete male copulative organ.
That's pretty much how I roll. Share your dirty little secrets (The non-sexual ones, because the offended are watching us) and help piracy improve. Yey.

Ciao!

I approve. What I would like to tell pirates: don't be sissies, yet don't die stupidly. Find a good balance .

add:
Trader: I RUS )))
Pirate: ( some short sentence )

Trader was killed by pirate

in other terms : I approve, extend it if possible, more is better sometimes.

You forgot one thing, never, ever EVER try to pirate navy character, yes it happened to me twice, silly pirates. I actually got a total of 2 navies to pay 1 million credits. You may try, it's fun and it's not necesarily ooRP.

And seriously, aren't all pirates in trouble anyways ?

  • Pirate in a freighter
All you ever need to know about piracy

To that I must agree. People underestimate freighters, but truth is, they're pretty decent in taking down transports. And if they don't pay, you always get some nice cargo.

then they were very lousy Navies, of course it is ooRP, navy officer who gives (government) money to a criminal would be court marshaled on the spot, and not every trouble is equal, in normal circumstances navy will often just ask you to leave the system(unless they catch you with your hands in the sack of course) but if you try to pirate them you can get on KOS list, we take it personally, rely its not a good idea.

Bactrian with nice guns and armor = painpainpain.

Same for Camara, an awesome freighter, I wonder why there isn't more camara-piracy out there.

EDIT: Cap.Kennedy : It is a good idea, mostly i get wether money or a nice little blue message.
