Station Creativity - (ツ) - 09-25-2011 Hello Forum, Although I am pretty sure that the dev team is full of ideas concerning Player Controlled Stations, I want to share with you some of my Ideas of different Station Types they could offer the Players to build: Defensive Structures: Can only be build within 3k of an stucture controlled by that player. Must be at least 15k away of any tradelanes or npc controlled base. Can NOT be build in a 60k globe around wrecks. -Basic Weapons Platform: (should look like the asteroid WPs. would be cool if someone could provide a pic ^^) This rather improvised looking defensive device consists of a old, discharged turret, mostly bought from the black market and a small but potent power core unit which have both been more or less strapped on a small asteroid serving as foundation. While most convoys can rely on fighter support, even the biggest corporations lack of wingmen to equally protect convoys and stations at the same time. The Civil Grade Weapons Platform offers a solution that is rather reliable as well as highly cost efficient. It offers a self-contained system of power reactors and a cpu running the latest version of modern tracking softwares, covered by several armor layers. But the prices you mention here are just too high. There only have to come one battleship and the platform goes poof. I really like the idea but the prices are much too high. If a weapon platform should cost 750 mil then I would expect a nightmare for caps. Something with heavier weaponry over a huge distance. Like pulse cannons or/and mortars, also BS turrets. For a simple weapon platform like these you can destroy in missions the price should be reduced. Something like 10-30 mil for a weapon platform you mentioned would be acceptable. All in all a nice idea, just some fixes with the prices and it's fine. Station Creativity - AeternusDoleo - 09-26-2011 Better idea is to control what's attached to the player base weapon hardpoints - make those guns upgradable. Start with the standard pewpew guns you see on most bases, expandable to basic battleship pulse and primaries... maybe a mortar or two to prevent people from camping out those bases at range. Even five platforms with mortars and BS guns, oh yeah. Before you charge up cruise or god if you place few CD platforms there. Toast. The devs are not stupid. I am sure they wouldn't like the idea to make it possible to place weapon platforms near a jumphole. Fidelio also mentioned the platforms shouldn't be able to be placed near a tradelane. I think that means the same to jumpholes and gates. Only for the purpose to defend player controlled bases, no more. And if you look at the relation from the platforms to the player controlled bases then you would notice player controlled bases won't be able to be placed near tradelanes, holes, gates, other stations and so on, too. So actually there is no problem with it. Station Creativity - Friday - 09-26-2011 Actually, if player bases work well - I would like to explore the possibility of player-operated modules attached to normal game bases. Like the storage depots you can blow up now. Defendable, destructable addon modules that could do stuff in the future. The hitpoints and the price from my post are just suggestions right now but for being balanced they should be within this magnitude. Concerning the "life expectancy" of Player constructed bases three different scenarios for future versions of the mod are imaginable. -Make the stations fairly cheap. Destuction of Station/Structure is permanent. -Make them slighly more expensive. Destruction is permanent until server reset. -Make them *really* expensive. Complete destruction is not possible but a temporary shutdown of the station is. My price model bases on the third alternative.
