The Battle of Lorraine - Outlander - 05-01-2012 //Please remember this is a work in progress and not official yet\\
The Fall of Lorraine... Since the fall of Quillan to Royalist forces and its people now relocated to the Roussillion system, the Council Liberation Front seeked to turn the tides and be on the offensive for a change. The minds with the Council war rooms on Marne devised a plan to help secure their northern flanks. The invasion of Lorraine. The Legion des Damnes, tired of being guests and ignored on the multitude of Brigand bases throughout Gallia, all begin to converge upon planet Marne. Lord Felanis, leader of the Legion, took it upon himself to find a place where they would be their own masters for a change. Upon meeting with the Generals of the Council, a plan was devised to satisfy both party's agendas. Lord Felanis made a last ditch attempt to fill the Legion and Councils ranks to adequate their needs of manpower, but would fall short. Swallowing his pride, he looked out and requested help from the Brigands and Unlawfuls of Gallia to help, making several pledges that would end the tensions created from their beginning days. While the populaces of several bases refused to help, others pledged what they could to assist, even resorting to buy their available pilots for the massive undertaking. Finally. With the help of a few wings of Maquis and Brigand ships, they had made their goal, satisfying the Council Generals. Taking the element of surprise, The small armada jumped into Lorraine. The Councils goal, retribution for those lost on Quillan. The Legion's goal, absolute revenge. With their Maquis and Brigand allys, the jump hole from burgundy into lorraine would be kept blocked, attacking any Royalist reinforcements attempting to assist. The Council and Legion's flagships would take point as they neared Battleship Epinal, releasing volley after volley onto the undermaintained valor's hull. The Legion's flagship, Grande Guillotine, would then take point in the debris field of their fallen foe as Lord Felanis ordered the launch of dozens of Council Assault transports, loaded with Council and Legion Shock Troopers, raiding the stations of Metz and leading the assault personally upon Chateau Salins. The Councils secondary forces combined with a Maquis wing would push on as the Royalists fought for their hopes of survival, moving a small task force towards the Gallic Police station of Luneville, giving its occupants one chance to leave in one piece. The forces upon Luneville would be divided, some saving themselves while others manned the few ships in Lunevilles hangars to attack the council forces threatening their lives. The outcome would be bleak for both sides as control for the only other way out of Gallia would begin. While the Gallic's fought their battles, another force began to take notice. In Omicron 80, Outcast patrols detected several Police ships attempting to flee from the fight in Lorraine, only to be either shot down or captured. Having little time to amass the majority of their forces, the Maltanese Government ordered the dispatch of the 101st to enter Lorraine and evaluate the situation. Declaring no quarter to any Gallic they find. The battle itself would be in stages. Stage One: Council & Legion forces enter Lorraine against Royalist Forces. Stage Two: Maquis & Brigand forces engage Royalist support craft attempting to enter Lorraine from Burgundy. Stage Three: Council & Legion forces attempt to take control of Metz Station and Chateau Salins. Stage Four: Council & Maquis forces engage Gallic Royal Police over control of Luneville Guard Station. Stage Five: Council & Maquis forces engage Outcast/101st Task Sqaudron. The Battle of Lorraine - alphadog - 05-01-2012 Before I spend some time commenting on this... Do you have any form of dev-backing or is this purely a LE initiative? The Battle of Lorraine - Outlander - 05-01-2012 No its not entirely an LE initiative. Considering right the current state of Gallia, this event is to help put in a shot of activity within Gallia that it needs. I talked with the Council's leader and right now almost all they do is powertrade. As I said this this is a work in progress. Technically one way or another an event similar to this would occur in the future. As stated. Of right now, nothing is official and I would enjoy the Admins & Devs opinions on this. Feel free to comment on this but be respective in such. The Battle of Lorraine - Decktare - 05-01-2012 If it will be I would like to join. I'll try select wing of the Maquis for it. The Battle of Lorraine - Dab - 05-01-2012 I think it's better to focus events in the Taus/Bretonia/lower Gallic systems than the northern one where lore says almost nothing is happening. I would expect events related to the Outcasts to take place there, but a Council/Maquis/Brigand offensive there doesn't match lore. Some events in Bretonia would be better. Perhaps some events around Reunion even, or at the minefield in Languedoc, taking advantage of it being a bottleneck for all Gallic supply ships/reinforcements to the frontline. Also, as far as I know, Brigands don't, or very rarely, do operations alongside other groups. They are pirates, not freedom fighters. They don't care about the leadership of Gallia. In fact, civil war is good for them, it makes their operations easier. The Battle of Lorraine - Daedric - 05-01-2012 Me thinks someone forgets that the Brigands are pirates. Not ex Royal Navy pilots who took up the Brigand banner because there was no other banner to take up when the Royal Navy started kreig'n them. I'd also like to see some input from the Royal Navy/Police/Crown on the event. The Battle of Lorraine - Miaou - 05-01-2012 It was asked for, so I comment. Basically what I get from this is LE wants Lorraine. That isn't going to happen. Lorraine is a dead system with hardly anything in it. Try Dauphine or Burgundy for events for strictly Gallic events. This doesn't fit any lore at all of the brigands or the disco lore as a whole, and I doubt a single faction can change lore this drastically without Dev backup. The Battle of Lorraine - Outlander - 05-01-2012 Yes you are all correct in saying the brigands as a whole wouldn't do this. There is the possibility of the LE gaining their own ID, thus removing themselves from the brigands as a whole, something that many argue we're not. We wouldn't control all of lorraine. Idea wise the Council would take control of Luneville and Metz station where as Chateau Salins would become a Legion base and the Grande Guillotine would become a station, taking the place of Battleship Epinal as well. You're absolutely right in saying nothing goes on in Lorraine, thats why we wished to do such in creating activity. Giving the Council and Outcasts an easier ability to fight each other and to create other new RP/PvP possibilities should they succeed. Statistic wise there are only about 3 thousand GRN and GRP in Lorraine, making it a perfect target since they're supplies are bare minimum on what can't be made on Chateau Salins and Metz. If you recall this sentance "resorting to buy their available pilots for the massive undertaking." The brigands who are there would be considered hired guns. Not forced under a banner. Even pirates do things not within their daily routine if enough money was thrown at their feet. Total Maquis and Brigands wouldn't go in the matter of like hundreds of ships, only a few small wings. Once they know that the GRN emergency supplies from Burgundy going to Lorraine were either shot down or captured, the brigand's jobs would be over and the remaining Maquis would move into Lorraine to support the assault. Again. Nothing here is written in stone. Its a shot in the dark in an area that needs some TLC. The Battle of Lorraine - Daedric - 05-01-2012 This all makes very little sense. There are two paths here: 1. LE get their ID and become a non cannon player faction. 2. LE are Brigands If you go path 1, I feel the need to remind you that it takes a long long time and a good deal of role play for a non cannon player faction to get its own hard coded base(s). Note the IND only just got theirs. I highly, highly doubt the development team is going to hand the LE their own hard coded bases when you a rather young official faction. I doubt an event is going to change that. If you go path 2, this event doesn't mesh with Brigand role play at all. Brigands are pirates and wouldn't even think about doing what you have described. That is the Council's job. In either case, this event makes little sense. The Battle of Lorraine - Dusty Lens - 05-01-2012 Factions that have been on the hotlist are ill positioned to suggest events which culminate in their possession of system resources as a natural evolution of the ID they're sure to be granted due to their lack of connection to the faction they purport representation. Meaning. You guys are small. You guys are a weak faction in a meta sense, couldn't care less about your text in te faction write up, your member base is insunstantial and there is still a lot of work to be done in the wake of your near disbanding. Announcing something like this goes well beyond the scope of biting more than you can chew. Smaller, more organic events would be the word of the day. Announcements such as this will only serve to draw ire towards you and yours regardless of the claims of theory crafting. |
