RE: Dear Jansen - Zayne Carrick - 11-24-2013 Such burning thread! It deserves Zayne's comment. I have 2 points: 1) If something can be abused, it will be abused, no matter what will you do. Saying it as professional abuser. 2) About Das Wilde: In this update I had 3 or 4 encounters with them. You know, I don't like "I am [RM] officer, you should follow my orders" RP, and some other things about them. But abusing the infinite cloak is the thing I hadn't noticed. RE: Dear Jansen - McNeo - 11-25-2013 The molly issue is a very old one, I thought I remembered the dude who said it but it seems that name does not even exist on the member list. As I said, since I cant find it, point is kind of moot. It just occurred to me while I was writing the post. A little pointless I guess. As for the nomad gunboat being broken, if it was really that unusable then I can accept your point. This still doesn't explain why other factions are allowed alternatives and others are sanctioned for it, but that's more a community issue than a specific faction one. I accept that the K'hara are not organised in the same way the Keepers were, now possessing public recruitment and so on, but in that case, what makes that faction deserve something that can and will be abused? Their conduct is not expected to be better or worse than other official factions, or is it? What am I missing? About the past, it is unfortunate that "not dwelling on the past" equals "forgetting about the past". It's neither unreasonable nor archaic thinking to remember the past as a warning of the future, as there are many events that repeat themselves over time. Moving forwards without recognising those mistakes ensures their repetition. RE: Dear Jansen - Treewyrm - 11-25-2013 Well, you would be making incorrect assumption that I do not remember what really happened (regarding scorp), evidently it's quite the opposite, and in fact more so than say some who were not involved directly and just repeat words of another person. Some other person whom you don't remember had said something some years ago... and you're talking how important it is to remember? Ain't that ironic. Subject of allowance or disallowance of alternatives is beyond the scope of this thread really. Make another one if you really feel inclined to find what are you personally missing about it. To you I'd say it simple: you're just too confused and mixing up events spanning long and colourful history of this mod, events that you seem vaguely remember but just not well enough, as such said events can have very different interpretation based on when they're being dragged back, what bitz you remember and what was said by someone else entirely. Mod environment had changed several times over the years, some acceptable things became unacceptable and vice versa. General perspectives did change for anyone been there long enough and observant enough. Regardless, I do not care about that ages old official/unofficial debacle at all anymore since currently it matters much less in practice, for better or worse. As was mentioned before even nomad indies has access to cloaks making your attempt as a whole a rather moot one to the boot. RE: Dear Jansen - McNeo - 11-27-2013 Unfortunately for you, I'm not so old that my long term memory is failing me. Being confused is not being the same as not being able to produce the historical evidence for an event. I would think somebody of your intelligence would be able to make the distinction. You're right, the attitudes of the community have changed over time. I'm wondering why some things have changed regarding some people and not others. I suppose it would be fair to the rest of the server if it was the Liberty Navy + indies, or any NPC faction + indies for that matter, who had sole access to a certain piece of equipment of which is vastly superior to the options that other factions have? Sounds good to me. RE: Dear Jansen - McNeo - 11-27-2013 The Liberty Navy are supposed to be the most well funded vanilla military, supposed to be ahead of all the others in terms of both technology and overall military strength. Yet, they are balanced according to their enemies. The same goes for just about every faction, at least now that Kusari got another balance pass. Why do people always confuse lore and gameplay elements selectively? If the lore says something, and it's reflected ingame, that's fine, as long as everything the lore says is reflected in gameplay. If there are discrepancies, you have to ignore them for the sake of immersion in that universe. Alternatively, if you focus on gameplay, the lore is just a nice book someone has written. What I'm saying is, there's no gameplay justification for it, where there are gameplay justifications used for the balance of other factions against each other. There is a lore justification, sure - but there are lore justifications for a lot of things that don't exist or are significantly different in gameplay. What makes nomads, or in fact any other faction, an exception? RE: Dear Jansen - Kazinsal - 11-27-2013 Nomads are the big bad and therefore they get something extra fancy to make them actually able to function as the big bad in-game without making their ships and guns horribly unbalanced. They simply get a gameplay mechanic that others don't. (please keep in mind that I'm not writing in yellow and therefore this is all personal views and not official stances of the dev team) RE: Dear Jansen - Yber - 12-07-2013 Quote:Uber Sabre's imba. Nerf. Sabrulu's on the way. Worry do not. They shall be slayed by the trio. Also McNeo: LOL. Guardian, avenger, GB, dreadnought, carrier, LABC. All of them are -way- over the top. Sure they're not unkillable, neither is a cau VIII 4.84 sabre. |
