Discovery 4.80 beta features, bugs & suggestions - Igiss - 08-03-2006 There's a difference about traders that you should understand. Lawful character might attack trader in case of 1) faction war and 2) carrying smuggled goods and refusing to give them out. Pirate may fire if trader doesn't stop when told so. Terrorist might attack without warning. That's the only thing that makes me concerned. I don't hate Phantom. You misunderstand me Hoodlum. I'm just asking not to attack completely neutral traders who doesn't want to be involved in any sorts of aggression. So I agree that tractor beam will stay, but point about ability to attack everyone will be removed from Xeno ID. I might as well add hints about terrorism to Molly, Gaian, GC and maybe some other pirate IDs, but they will all become of pirate type. If you still think that having a special ID would be better, I may leave Xeno ID with a shorter beam, for example (500 m, 3 times shorter than normal). However, I'm intended to leave criminal ID without any beams, and there's also a hidden Nomad ID that was introduced strictly for RP event purposes - allowing to attack players of all levels everywhere without any exceptions (maybe it would never be used, but still it's good to have this option). This Nomad ID also stays without beam. It would take 10 more cargo space, would grant absolutely no rights (lawful-actions-only, though it won't be a direct violation if you attack someone) and without cargo beam. How pleasant. You may get it if you want, but you won't be allowed to change it for at least 2 weeks. Criminal ID means you've been identified as a criminal, simple as that. If you'll improve (which doesn't involve any crimes), you'd gain right to get normal ID back. Criminal ID is for those who seriously violated server rules, but admins are tolerable and won't ban you... this time. Its been very rare certainly for my group to attack just a trader, there is very little point or any fun in that. There is no way they can fight back anyway. The once or twice this has occured has been just to prove a point and usually involved just blowing off a pod or two from a train. For anyone else we don't know or are not sure about we usually don't even consider going after them ... Our attacks have been mainly aimed at the houses and if we are planning a big one our intentions are usually flagged by a post in the dump, This worked particularly well last time with an attack on Bretonia being repulsed with some bloody good RP from Badger and the PLH ... Thats what I'm looking for more of. And more people to get into the idea. Badger has been very quick to pick this up with the resurection of the SF dump and I applaud him for that. If I or anyone else finds our members abusing our rights I will be very upset now as you have had the faith to let us continue as before. The details and the balance of the beam I will have to leave entirely up to you as its well known I don't have a clue concerning the ins and outs of this black art. I have always trusted your judgement before and will continue to do so ... This I felt was a little different. I normally reserve a little niggle for having my current favourite ship of the hour detuned to a ludicrous level. But hey ... Nothing new there then. Oops, it will probably be the Talon next time. Continue with the good work please ... Still the best RP server around with some of the best ideas and people to make them work. Thats why to everyones horror I'm still here. Or you'll go with normal pirate ones (just of specific terroristic NPC factions)? As for Criminal ID, it's a punishment, nothing more... it's not for RP. Terrorists do have to fund their own organization so, tractoring in loot seems like a fair idea. I too have made each of my characters stand on their own after the initial cash influx to set them up. My large train is mostly inactive until I decide to create a new character and need some money to set him up. I like Igiss' idea of a shorter reaching tractor beam. It means they are not in it primarily for the loot but can loot to support their cause. Nova torpedos and mines are expensive a they need a way to replace those. I don't have a terrorist character but, not being able to tractor loot would seriously deter me from joining a terrorist faction. |
