RE: Indie Nomad ID implementation - Jack_Henderson - 12-03-2012 As this draft (see the post one up) keeps them away from the main lane systems that lawful traders are meant/forced to take, it is okay and I don't have anything to complain about this one. ![]() Edit: GB can stay in, imo. We have a lot of GBs here already, so a few more will not matter. They are easy to hit and I'd rather shoot noob-GBs than swishy-unhittable snubs. ![]() RE: Indie Nomad ID implementation - DarthBindo - 12-03-2012 Okay, but please, please, please for the love of all that is holy don't let any indie nomnom ID use the LF. Please. It's been nerfed. It's not the OP ship it used to be in 4.85 no worries with this one. Still a good LF though. RE: Indie Nomad ID implementation - Pavel - 12-04-2012 Quote:Pilot carrying this ID is a Nomad, who : It still doesn't cover e.g. Omega-11. Indie nomads shouldn't be able to leave Omicrons at all. RE: Indie Nomad ID implementation - Jack_Henderson - 12-04-2012 One last thought before I really go to bed. ![]() This ID will likely (if it is included) be added in the new version. In this version there will be tradelanes that connect Gallia to upper Taus and Kusari to Gallia somehow. I don't know which way the direct connection between "Bretonia-Gallia" and "Kusari-Gallia" will be, but if there are lane connections, it would be consistent to add these systems as exclusions, too, as you already did with the non-Gallic houses. RE: Indie Nomad ID implementation - Radza - 12-04-2012 I was not around for over 4 years tho I followed the "changes" and "progress" of Disco and I left when they had an idea adding Nomads as playable features with all that ideas how would they operate , all that "mind control" speaking thing or what ever it was and specific and strict RP rules and it was the app for that role as I remember (correct me if I'm wrong I'ma lil rusty you know :blush ![]() My idea is same as kikatsu's but I can add one thing on that and that is: If you are an indy player and you wish to play as a Nomad you need to fist apply for the ID on forum saying why you wana play Nomad ,then do a lil testing of your RP as a Nomad ,on forum or via some of the friendly Angels in-game and that will be very good. Why? Because it will get indy players to get the same feeling as official (tagged) players when applying for some of the factions, crews call them how ever you want, and it will benefit the general RP growth on Disco and if I'm not wrong that's one of the Disco goals if not the main one ,being one step closer to 100% RP society! Point is to help, recruit and teach about RP as many "indy" players as you can so we all can have fun while playing here! Ofc there will be always "black sheep's" but that's life ![]() PS: Sry I made voting results 50-50% ![]() RE: Indie Nomad ID implementation - Alley - 12-04-2012 (12-04-2012, 12:07 AM)Pavel Wrote: It still doesn't cover e.g. Omega-11. Indie nomads shouldn't be able to leave Omicrons at all. O-11 isn't a primary road between two houses, therefore it isn't necessary. Already said they won't be limited to the omicrons. Again, everything can be changed, which is why we're going for a flhook tied ID for this beta test period. If it turns out ugly, then we can certainly restrict them to the omicrons. RE: Indie Nomad ID implementation - Pavel - 12-04-2012 But it is mining system, and no other activity is more vulnerable than mining operation, and this is free terrorist ID. RE: Indie Nomad ID implementation - TonyRistar - 12-04-2012 I don't see a problem in the nomads attacking mining operations. The "Too large, needs to be weakened" mentality would exist still, meaning thats who should get hit, and who should hire escorts more. 5 transports and a miner or a barge and a miner with NO combat escort is well, bad planning. RE: Indie Nomad ID implementation - Agmen of Eladesor - 12-04-2012 I think the biggest thing that people are going to find once they get their indie nomad ship is ... they're really no better than anything else out there. Oh, it's a great ID, because other than our allies (the Wild) and our tolerated (Outcasts, certain Gallics), everyone else is your enemy. Can you say target rich environment? And if the ships were still overpowered like they used to be, I would be the first to scream out no, no, no, to any kind of indie nomad. But they're not. All we're playing now is Skinlancer, not Discovery - at least that's how it feels. The nomad ships included in this are no more powerful than human ships now - and since people have the perception that it's a nomad, we must gang bang that ship to death - a solitary nomad that comes out looking for RP tends to run into 10 ships hunting his ass down real quick. (That's why I tend to fly my Nomad cruisers now when looking for RP - I at least can live a bit longer and role-play with people before I get ganged up on and killed.) Again, does this mean that there won't be some jerks out there that will go, ohh, we're now shiny terrorist ID's? The same people that as pirates aren't out there to pirate, but go 2milordai ... 3,2,1, dai it is... And the only thing that can be done is sanction them. At least this way it'll be easier to track. And hey, if they simply are NOT allowed into house space without being with an official faction member, then it'll be pretty simple to police them up, won't it? And you know darned good and well that those of us who ARE official faction members are going to be paying attention to this when we're NOT on our K'Hara ships. I've been hearing screams of rage on this forum for years about how the Nomads / K'Hara suck because they're a closed faction and you have to give Huggie your foreskin if you want to join, and the player base wants our ships. Hello, this is our attempt to let you have what you want - and to find out that what you want sort of sucks, actually. You can do the same thing with an Pirate ID'd Freelancer - and you have a wider range of ships and guns to choose from (even though they all do the same damage). (EDIT - I voted no, but if I wasn't already a member of the K'Hara, I would have voted yes.) |
