Guten Tag Piloten, Today's patrol ended in a bloodshed again, as it does so often lately, regardless of what we go out for. A group of elite Hessian pilots, the Red Barons always seem to spit into our soup, I wouldn't even be surprised if they showed up when we are on a hunt for Corsairs. That was almost what happened on today's patrol. I met in space with Leutnant Haynsworth, Hauptfeldwebel Weissman and Feldwebel Kreuzchen. After Leutnant Haynsworth gave me full command, I organised the group in two wings, wing Blitz consisted of me and Hauptfeldwebel Weissman, wing Messer was composed of Leutnant Haynsworth and Feldwebel Kreuzchen. I issued the patrol waypoints for both wing and we headed out. Wing Blitz took Dresden, Frankfurt and Munich, wing Messer had Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Omega-7. We were however, interrupted by comms incoming from some miners in Omega-7 reporting the presence of unknown vessels in the system, I thought we were to face Corsairs. Herr Weissman had to conduct comm repairs and Herr Haynsworth had to switch to his bomber to act as heavy support, so I disassembled the wings and Feldwebel Kreuzchen and I headed out to check Omega-7, Haynsworth followed soon. Upon entry, we were hailed by unknown ships, proceeding further into the nebula torwards Freistadt, we realised they were not corsair vessels, but ones belonging to the Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army. We got readings on the CPW Social Credit, a Storm-class gunboat and a Revolution-class bomber, piloted by Stenka Razin. The Social Credit's captain introduced himself as Commissar Commander Alvin Katz, a high-ranking member of the Coalition Army and we commenced the usual arrest procedure, which I don't recall being successful in years. I insisted on trying to apprehend him alive, but eventually we didn't have to fight neither him nor his gunboat. The arrival of Gottfried Halse was not surprising. He always shows up when there is someone he can assist in his acts of terror, I still can't tell what motivates him other than the ability to keep killing Military officers. Regardless, we began the diplomatic talks with Commissar Commander Katz, during which another Red Baron, Alfred Arnd showed up. Following the verbal confrontation between me, the SCRA Commander and Halse, the Red Barons drifted to our flank and attacked us. The SCRA bomber, flown by Lieutenant Razin also engaged, so we had our first target. The hostile forces made short work of Leutnant Haynsworth in his Snubnose, but quickly afterwards, the ship of Razin followed. They both ejected, the pod of Razin was tractored by the Social Credit and the communists left off, leaving their miner allies against me, Feldwebel Kreuzchen and Hauptfeldwebel Gunter Weissman, who arrived shortly before Razin's downing. Most unfortunately, I soon had to part with the support of my wingmen. They both survived, but without their ships, they could hardly offer me any further aid. Being left alone against the Hessains' finest, I became a bit frustrated. Of course, no obstacle can stand against the Rheinwehr's might, so I still attempted to retaliate the heavy fire I was under. My unwillingness to give up or flee paid off, Major General Rall arrived to contribute to the battle. We kept Halse under heavy fire, but as usual, we couldn't bring his ship to destruction in the 1,5 hours during which the battle lasted. Eventually, my Wraith became heavily damaged. Herr Rall passed on the majority of his supplies and because of that, he had to withdraw from the field. A third Hessian, Kirill Yanovski also arrived to assist the enemy forces, who obviously called in backup because they felt they were in trouble. Yanovski pulled in a few decent shots, but I disposed of him with a mine just as Major General Rall left the field of engagement. Again, I was left alone against the two Barons. Neither of them was notably damaged, but Halse was low on supplies. The outcome has to be obvious. Leutnant Voelkel signing off. Powering down transmitter... Cutting comm link... Guten Tag Piloten, It wasn't a whole day since the defeat we suffered by the Red Barons that we had the chance to utterly disassemble the main fleet of the Red Hessian Army. Not to ignore the presence of the Wilde Flagship, the Heilige Einz and its escort, along with another Outcast Tridente showing up in Rheinland. Busy day.
Wilde incursion in New Berlin
My presence in the battlefield consisted of two sections. First off, I launched my Wraith to respond a distress signal transmitted by Hauptfeldwebel Gunter Weissman, his report notified me of a Wilde gunboat being present. When I got to space, I failed to establish contact with Herr Weissman, I was starting to fear the worst, so I quickly got into a trade lane in order to attempt tracking him down. I didn't have to go far, I had a visual on a Wilde ship right near the Berlin-Dortmund lane. I didn't have time to analyze the vessel, the material buildup, weapon classes and origin, all I could determine is that it seemed to be a gunboat-class vessel of some sort, designated as Eselin. I recieved some weird comm signals from the ship, following that, it immediately opened fire at me. Since I obviously didn't stand a chance on my Wraith alone against an alien gunboat, my only choice was evading his projectiles and calling in reinforcements. So I did. After a few minutes of dodging the shrapnel of the Eselin, the ship broke off and slowly started moving torwards the New Berlin sun. I used that occasion to call in reinforcements and attempted the establishment of communications with the vessel, but only the former succeeded. Admiral Engels aboard his gunboat and Hauptfeldwebel Weissman arrived to assist me very soon. We were ordered to take the Wilde ship down, it did some light damage to the gunboat of Herr Engels, but since Weissman was flying a bomber, we were successful at the destruction of the vessel. Most unfortunately, I had to leave for a brief amount of time, my canteen time was in effect, during which Admiral Engels and Hauptfeldwebel Weissman made the first Military patrol in the Sigma-13 system, in cooperation with the GMG. A historic event I had to miss because of the strudels. Attached visual data: http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm144/z...screen668-1.jpg
[color=#33CC00]Defeating the Red Hessian Army
I soon returned to assist the Rheinwehr forces in fighting the Wilde Flagship, the legendary Heilige Einz, which was reported to be shooting Rheinwehr cruisers merely a few clicks from Planet New Berlin. I don't understand what made the Wilde come so deep into Rheinland, right near our capitol, but it was already forced to retreat as I arrived. I never got to see the ship as it retreated to Dresden. The reason for our disability to chase down the Heilige Einz was that we spotted a whole Battlegroup of cruisers and bombers belonging to the Red Hessian Army, right near Border Station Brandenburg. The Hessian fleet, led by the RHC Von Rohe, the flagship of the Hessian fleet and another cruiser, the RHC Hessen along with the escort of several bombers have cut the way of our pursuit wing, under the command of Major Westerman. The reason for their presence, nor the name of their commander remained unknown to me all along, shortly after they realised we had more and more ships incoming, they opened fire at the Brandenburg Border station, which had numerous civilian casualties caused by the deck breeches. Terrorists? Indeed. Major Westerman obviously couldn't let that happen. He ordered all ships to open fire, we had three bombers and two fighters on the field against two heavy cruisers, two bombers and a fighter. The odds soon turned to support our favour. Our bomber wings were successful at penetrating the hull of the Hessian cruisers, which couldn't even properly resist, since me and reserve pilot Maister were successful at getting the attention of the enemy fighters and bombers, which left their capital ships without cover. Our bomber wing was successful at heavily damaging the RNC Hessen, the captain of the miner cruiser made a run for it and successfully fled. I don't think we'll be seeing the Hessen in a while, taking into account that it has more holes in it than a sheet of cheese. The RHC Von Rohe, the flagship of the Red Hessian fleet didn't last any longer either. We were soon ultimately victorious, the bomber wing destroyed the cruiser with their SNAC rain, I strongly believe that we were successful at eliminating a large portion of the RHA command on board. Following that, our bombers were left alone against a vicious Volksfront warrior, Daniel Boehmer, who even though caused some headache temporary to our vessels, was eventually destroyed thanks to our superior numbers. Albert Kesselring, the ship me and reserve pilot Maister mainly kept pinned down was also destroyed even before Herr Boehmer went down, only one Odin was left, Hainz Stolzer. Major Westerman ordered me to cover his bomber, since it was the Hessian pilot's focus of attention during the engagement. So I did. The Hessian pilot wasn't the most skilled one, he kept performing the joust manouver on Westerman's bomber, so it was pretty much sitting ducks for my rain of hornvipers. Despite that, Herr Westerman succeeded in blowing him up with a SNAC, even though I've already caused him heavy damage. Our forces were ultimately victorious in a rather short amount of time, the Red Hessian Army suffered major losses while the Rheinwehr stood in full might. I don't know if we managed to capture anyone alive, but I guess it's hardly a matter now. [color=#33CC00]Dealing with an Outcast ambush
As the title indicates, we didn't succeed in getting at least one day break from the Outcast Tridentes. Amateurs, as always. The day's encounter hardly offered a challenge, in fact, the Outcast ships dug their own graves. Most of my wing left off to celebrate the Rheinwehr victory, only me and Reserve pilot Maister remained. The reserve pilot noted the sighting of an Outcast Falcata, the Singularity being present, the ship roamed through New Berlin and he was in a chase. I soon caught up with the reserve pilot, but not the Outcast, which kept disrupting the lanes as it went further into the system. The ship came from the direction of Dresden, I was hoping for it to go torwards Frankfurt and leave back torwards the Sigmas (where their presumed home is located), but to my surprise, he fled torwards Stuttgart and jumped to the system. Then, I thought he was going to raid miners in the Omegas, as some Outcasts lately did, but we quickly found him and an Outcast Tridente, the Black Sabbath laying an ambush to a Junker convoy. Me and Maister got there just as soon as the Outcast attack on the vessels begun, the Singularity led us to their position successfully. I admit, I didn't know who to shoot at first, the Junkers didn't seem to be of the kind that spends combing the fields of scrap to reuse parts, we got the reading on two Junker transports, the Sticky Fingaz and the AVATAR being under heavy fire. The AVATAR soon went down though before I could order to interfere, even though I don't think of it as a real loss, I realised the Outcasts could pose a threat to our Omega mining operations aswell. At that point, I chose to order the opening of fire. We quickly disposed of the Singularity, the Falcata-class bomber, the only hardship about him was the repeated use of mines against us, to ridiculous amounts, which were useless against my cruise disruptors, causing the Outcast more pain than us. The Black Sabbath Tridente was a bit tougher, luckily a merc came by and even though hiring a mercenary is really not among my favoured activies, I had to do it in order to be victorious. Again, we were successful at ridding Rheinland of such unwanted elements. Unfortunately, we couldn't save either of the Junker transports, but a corporate convoy that soon passed through the area could travel with ease. Shortly afterwards, I returned my vessel to the Strausberg's hangar and went off duty. Guten Tag Piloten, I originally began yesterday's duties with embargo supervision. Major General Rall gave me the flight access codes to Iota 1, one of our Fafnir-class heavy bombers. Following a hint from Obergefreiter Weddigen that indicated the good performance of the 13-ARKM-N37 in embargo supervision, I decided to give it a try. I scanned two passing ships, one being a Universal ship, the Red Bull, flying one of our Colossuses, claiming it to be heritage which sounded rather impossible to believe, the other one was a Freelancer DL-class transport, the Berxard. I turned around the Berxard, since it had our Luxury food on board, with the intention to export it to Liberty. I was intending to ask for the motives that led the captain of the Red Bull to betray his Vaterland and start shipping for a Libertonian corporation, but I was soon interrupted in my task. A reserve pilot with a name I cannot remember indicated the presence of a Liberty Security Force agent scoping around Hamburg. Of course, I couldn't let that happen. I landed the Iota 1 and fetched my Wraith, as I got back to Hamburg, the Libertonian was sitting right outside Hamburg, chatting with a Hessian criminal. As soon as I arrived, the Hessian, Carl Heinrich broke off and moved to a safe distance, but the LSF ship, registered to Nemanja Jovic enjoyed priority anyway. I could finally deal with the intruder alone. I was intending to ask the LSF agent of his motives and perhaps give him a chance to surrender, but I never got a reply besides something like "engaging RM", which led him to immediately open fire at my humble vessel. It was a rather amateurish agent, I kept on the flank of his bulky Avenger with my Wraith all along. His flight manouvers were of a beginner kind aswell, even though his ship seemed to be equipped with state of the art technology and deadly weapons, they were worthless in the hands of the unskilled pilot. I disposed of him rather quickly, without suffering hardly any damage to my ship. ![]() The next issue I had to deal with was something else though. As I turned around, I noticed the Hessian bomber piloted by Carl Heinrich was still there. I told him that the time I spent fighting the Libertonian should have been enough for him to make a run for it and escape unharmed, but he claimed that he was still there to "tax some traders", because the LSF broke his plan. Of course, I tried placing him under arrest at once, but we were quickly interrupted by the arrival of a civilian Armored transport, the Peter_Moron (yes, the ship was named like that) with 800 enslaved men, women and children onboard. It was an awkward situation that followed, I admit. The Hessian and I too demanded the vessel to cut his engines. I ordered the Hessian to leave the area and the trader to drop the slaves for recollection and liberation, but the Hessian didn't leave and instead demanded credits from the slaver, right in front of my eyes! The slaver confused authority, he thought we were of the same alignment with the Hessian. Before I had time to respond or assess the situation with a cool head, the Hessian blew the transport up, killing the slaves he had on board and starting to shoot the escape pods drifting in space, still containing numerous survivors in them. Of course, I couldn't let the carnage continue, for too many times have I withnessed the brutality of Hessians in the recent times, but killing civilians in front of my eyes was way over the border. I immediately opened fire at the terrorist, which chose to flee. Hopefully, I could save enough lives with deterring him from the area, allowing the pods to be recollected by our men or at least drift to safety. I could not allow him to escape unpunished, I threw myself after him while he fled into the asteroid field. He eventually stopped about 10-15 clicks away from an abandoned mining facility. During the brief chase, I thought about the situation and offered him another chance to surrender and be trialed for his crimes against humanity. He told me that he did everything for money, which I deemed an unacceptable answer, telling him that no money could ever replace a lost human life. I however had my duty to consider. He was unwilling to surrender, so I opened fire. He was far more skilled than I'd have thought, he threw in some impressive flight manouvers and managed to get my shields down occasionaly. He also used his cruise disruptor to his advantage, I had to neglect the usage of mines for a brief period of time, until he ran out of disruptor missiles. The fight lasted a rough half hour, I was eventually victorious with minimal damage suffered, but it was sure an exhausting fight. ![]() After a brief line of repairs, I resumed my duties. Admiral Malte arrived on the Schwanstein, but she left her vessel after my repairs were complete. Again, I stood into the Hamburg checkpoint, Feldwebel Kreuzchen also joined me. Our first and only contact was a smuggler BWT, the Modesty Blaze. The ship had 3390 pieces of Counterfeit software in its cargo hold. After realising I disrupted all means for him to escape, he eventually submitted himself for my prosecution. He claimed to be a Deep Space Engineering supply agent, carrying the software to a DSE base, Solarius. The lies were so obvious that they almost made me laugh. First off, I told him that Solarius was a Daumann base, not a DSE one, neither did it operate any DSE agents. Secondly, his ship was in no way registered as a DSE transport, it had a civilian IFF transmitter and a forged civilian registration paper on board. He was in no way licensed to carry all that software. As soon as I ordered him to relinquish the cargo for destruction, he replied "I will take a break" and docked with Altona. ![]() Not something I wasn't prepared for. I requested a squad of marines from the Schwanstein, but unfortunately the cruiser was still in drydock, under the replacement of fuel rods. Feldwebel Kreuzchen also had the time to get into his bomber. The smuggler eventually left the Altona docks and ran torwards the asteroid field near Hamburg. He eventually led us to the jumphole I was at with Major General Rall, in pursuit of Tridentes a few days ago. I couldn't let him come even close to the military secrets located in the Westerwald nebula, so I ordered the Feldwebel to destroy the vessel. The smuggler tried obvious tricks to fool us, neither succeeded. His ship was near destruction when he jettisoned his cargo into space at last. Of course, we also had to make him pay the 8 million credits fine for firing at Military officers, which he did during his escape. His response was "shut up reinhland moron", I gave the Feldwebel orders to open fire. As the ship went down, I returned to Hamburg. We just caught another embargo runner, an armored transport designated as Sifa. He was of the unintentional kind, but just as we were about to turn him back, the Ravensburg called us in to protect a Republican vessel being threathened by pirates in New Berlin. We eventually caught the pirate, the Ravensburg identified him as Matthias Zevonen, a Unioner terrorist. He was bringing forth the usual senseless trash about "worker liberation" and "fighting against fascism", but his theories were rather flawed, I kept contradicting him with relative ease. I eventually got tired of his ranting and ordered Feldwebel Kreuzchen to dispose of him, he brought in a nice SNAC shot to the hull of the terrorist, I didn't manage to find an escape pod. ![]() Following a report from an unidentified vessel, the Ravensburg command ordered me to check Stuttgart for pirates. I eventually found one, a Golden C. vessel piloted by Mai Lin, right near Planet Stuttgart. She seemed to be harmless and lost. I never found out her motives. The Ravensburg command ordered me to escort her out of Rheinland, so I did. The helpless Kusarian even thanked me for my help. ![]() There was something about a Hessian attack later on too, something larger scale. I had engine troubles as the fight erupted, so I can only hope that someone who participated to the end will do a report on it, my knowledge regarding that subject is lacking. Guten Tag Piloten, I began my patrol with taking my Snubnose to assist Admiral Malte in combat against a Junker Pirate transport and a Roc-class bomber, terrorising the populace of Munich. Unfortunately enough, I was still on Freiburg in watch for Junker pirates around the area when the Admiral's call came and since my ship also started to malfuncion during my route, I got there too late. However, the delay didn't cause any possible drawbacks, since Admiral Malte single handedly destroyed both hostile ships, she was just finishing up as I got there. Following that event, we got organised into wings. Wing Einz was consistant of me and reserve pilot Volker, while Wing Zwei was composed of Hauptgefreiter Drum and reserve pilot Reinboth. Admiral Malte issued us waypoints, but we were quickly interrupted by being warned of a wanted Junker pirate transport, the Baraka being present. Admiral Malte caught him first, but the Junker made a run for it as soon as the arrest warrant was made. He ran off to Hamburg and landed on Border Station Luebeck, as Hauptgefreiter Drum's wing cut his path, approaching from Alster. Presuming that the Police officers on board Luebeck were handling the arrest of the Junker, Admiral Malte ordered us to resume our patrols, while she left off to talk to the Kanzler regarding the recent Junker problems we had to deal with. I took my wing to patrol Stuttgart and Omega-7, all seemed to be silent. As we were heading back though, both reserve pilots signed off duty and only me and Hauptgefreiter Drum remained in space. We were eventually contacted by a Bowex ship, the Bramall, in request of an escort through Stuttgart and Omega-7, due to the increased pirate activity present in both systems lately. I ordered Hauptgefreiter Drum to escort the ship out, but his systems started malfunctioning and his ship's heat signals vanished from my sensors. I was starting to get worried when he didn't show up for a good five minutes, but since we had to move on, I ordered a repair ship to search and rescue Drum, while I myself agreed to escort the Bramall further. However, we were soon interrupted by strange, illiterate transmission incoming, I thought it was my comms at first, then I spotted an incoming vessel on my sensors. The ship moved quickly and went off sensors, I couldn't get a scan on it. At first, I thought it was some Hessian attempting to mess with the lane, as he smelled the massive Bowex ship trying to move though Rheinland, but as I took the lane to the Stuttgart gate, it turned out to be... something else. The ship shot the lane from right under me and opened fire as soon as that. I encountered this class of vessel before, but I didn't realise it was indeed the so-called "Wilde gunboat". As I tried my best to evade its projectiles and call in reinforcements, only Hauptgefreiter Drum, whose systems were repaired in the meantime came. The enemy ship fled the area, moving on to Stuttgart, where it attacked a trader vessel. That was opportune for us, we caught up with the hostile ship and the civilian also managed to escape unharmed. The target attempted to flee using the lanes, but we disrputed its attempt to do so by taking it down, which led the ship to escape to deep space. I, still being in belief of encountering a Hessian or SCRA technological breakthrough (even though it soon became apparent that the ship was of even further advanced weaponry), ordered the pursuit and destruction of the thought-to-be pirate vessel. The ship of course, started to retaliate. Its armament was rather formidable, but we used the tactics of "one strikes, the other evades" with Hauptgefreiter Drum and were successful at doing so. My ship got damaged slightly and Herr Drum's heavily, but we eventually managed to bring the foreign vessel to its knees in a long-lasting and exhausting fight with using only two Wraith-class fighters. Long live the tactical superiority of the Rheinwehr forces. I personally managed to salvage a few pieces of the ship and gave them in to the Karlsruhe for analyzation. I understand that the findings might be above my level of clearence, this ship seems to be not either of human nor nomad origin. It is something inbetween, something composed of both elements, a crossbreed, if you may please. This could also be one of the rumoured Liberty nomad research projects. His presence turned this encounter into an utter victory of the Rheinwehr and even though we shared the work, his presence saved my life again. Leutnant Voelkel signing off. I locked off my weapons and I was returning fire. He had big ship and it was very eazy for hit with my SNAC. I took down his shield quickly and I shot at him with SNAC. I missed and his shield was back again. I was recharging my energi for SNAC cannon. After this I took down his shield and shot my SNAC on his hull. My SNAC hit his hull and he was destroyed. Quickly a Pirate (ID Punisher) in a civilian bomber was located. A scan revealed, that the pirate was carrying a civilian pilot and a VIP amongst goods and ship parts suggesting that this pirate had very recently taken down a civilian vessel. Commands to stop were ignored. The pirate tried to escape towards Raubling Station, when he suddlenly stopped and prepared to engage. After a tense fight the pirate was destroyed by a well timed SNAC hit. Another glorious victory for the Vatherland. Witness to the engagement. The vessel revealed itself as Hessian Bomber Carl.Heinrich. Commands to stand down and be arrested were ignored. I engaged cruise engines to cath up with the fleeing ship. After a few attempts to disrupt his engines, the pirate turned and prepared to fight. Weapons were charged and the engagement was announced. A fierce battle unfolded. The enemy bomber took down my shields on several occasions. After some of the enemies mines exploded after my disrupter hit, the pirate was destroyed by a well timed shot with my SNAC. Another glorious victory for the Vatherland. Witness to the engagement. Commands to stand down and be arrested were ignored. A scan revealed civilian and Bretonian pilots in his cargo hold. As the vessel (a heavily re-inforced Junker cargo ship) ignored all commands and engaged cruise engines, his engines were disrupted and a few warning shots fired. Still the pirate attempted to flee, at some point opened fire. The surprise attack with heavy guns almost took down my shields. The allied Pilot "Captain.Fedex" joined the persuit. I charged weapons and fired full broadsides onto the pirate ship. While flying evasive maneuvers to escape from the pirates heavy guns and recharging the SNAC and guns, the pirate was finally taken out by my guns. Thanks was given to the brave allied pilot to assist to crack this hard nut. The civilian and Bretonian Pilots were recovered and savely taken to Battleship Straussberg. Another glorious victory for the Vatherland. Witness to the engagement.
