Now I would like to be able to get a capital with a weeks worth of trading. I do not want to devote my all of my free time so that I can have a big ship.

Again, there are measures which can be taken against this, but some people believe it to be antisocial/too ruthless.

Quote:Yep, that's what I did. If one was smart they would restart to a house and get a free freighter to haul goods in.

Yeah, all 80 hold of it

I traded my way from Starflier to Shetland, no mining involved. And I feel better for it.

What I mean by this is; Currently there are (or were) about a dozen or so mining spots, however, all but 3 were not very profitable, hence everyone got concentrated in those three systems, causing the levels of stupid behaviour to rise, all that needs to be done is that mining spots other than the ones in t32, o7 and Dublin need to be buffed to a similar profitability, to spread everyone out. Nerfing or removing the mining mod will have the same effect, but it will also kill several factions that rely on the activity/money it brings to function.

Edit: Also, more diverse sell-points are needed, for example, gold only sells in New York, which is silly, as Detroit munitions is not the only station in Sirius that can process gold ore, or needs gold ore. The same is true for all other ores. IMO, each ore should have at least 1 sellpoint in each House, and perhaps an unlawful one or two for groups like the Corsairs/Outcasts, which are mini-Houses. This will yet further spread people out and do what I have outlined above.
This.
If we have choice to reduce activity in some systems or to increase activity in others i would choose latter...
More mining spots means more RP,more online time,more work,more money,more traders coming and going,more pirates,more protection from the pirates needed,more fights,lees inflation()
All in all-more active systems ...isn't that what everybody want?
This subject was on table few times and most of the players wanted more activity in those "empty"systems...we can't achieve that by reducing things in game.

Please bring it back. The actions of a few should not impact on the actions of the many.

I don't think this is addressing the problem. It's just pushing it aside. In the BPA chat, Marcus mentioned the idea of a monetary death penalty, perhaps as a set amount according to the size of your ship. This would make it so that, in his words; "people actully have to put in some effort to protect themselves and their ships. Rather than 'lolminers' running around armourless not caring about what happens since they'll be back in 4 hours".

I think this would prove a far more effective and permanent solution to the problem, as if mining is halted altogether many of the same 'lolwut' players will simply move to powertrading and the same behaviour will rise again, albeit in a different form. I would also like to voice my support for the idea of spreading out the mining areas and sell points. Im sure many of the problems around mining stem from the sheer concentration of miners and pirates in the three or four profitable areas in sirius.

In regards to discovery storyline, there is a consensus among many of the BPA that if mining goes down, dublin will go down and the only thing left for Bretonia to do will be to fight Kusari. As the only activities currently happening regularly in bretonia are mining and fighting kusari, I have to agree. Please consider the implications of cutting off bretonia's largest commercial industry and what thats going to do to us.

Regards, Aztech (and the BPA)

There was good Disco before Mining ( I remember, I was there) . People traded, people had capships. It was Disco.

There was Disco while there was mining. People Traded, people mined, people bought capships.

There would be a disco after mining. People will trade, people will buy capships. It will be Disco as Disco always has been.

I think I preferred it before mining, but I voted it turn it back on as I know it impacts much faction RP that has been created in its time.

I've been playing on this server for a almost an year and since my first day of doing it, i don't remember of players complaining about mining.

Players are divided in many categories like:

Those who like mining
Those who like trading
Those who like fighting like hell
Those who like just to RP and so on...

It doesn' t mean that if i don't like mining i should ban it, it's not fair for those who enjoy PLAYING DISCO for mining. Everything that happens in the DISCO has a reason...and i think mining has his own place in it...like trading and so on. By taking it...you only make people do this: leaving the game/going on trading till they get bored of long routes and pirates/trying to run like hell when they see another player/death of many factions and the most important an economical crisis.

It's a RP server ....and we need to RP as if it would be real life...well...mining exists in real life.

All the best!

Drop ore prices by ~25%
Mining should be an alternative to trading. Not the preferred option for pure profit. Factors like standing still for an extended period should be taken into account however...

i say Stop nerfing things leave mining on but make some trade runs just as profitable. This way players will have a choise and pirates will have more targets. and player will be more spread out.
