ADMIN Question to Community - Panzer - 04-06-2011

Surely you aren't... As long as it doesn't encounter any resistance while being jammed down someone's throat *trollface*

Sides... You did a fine job smuggling through the Taus so far, you'll figure something out with GRN too. I think the usual ignore-and-run-for-Cali will work best.

RPly and OOCly Outcasts have nothing to worry about because on both fronts they have enough ways and means of maintaining their trade route.

ADMIN Question to Community - maximus995 - 04-06-2011

still just think about it panzer, it would fit right in

outcasts: - a new market opens - no danger to smuggling or anything (i know we can run but lets dream this is "realy" happening shall we?) - an enemy less to worry about near our homeworld (omicron 80 system safe)

GRN: - a new allie - can focus mainly on orkney - more safety around omicron 80 - can use, if neccesary our bases to attack the other way (passing trough alpha or so) - acces to an outcast base in newcastle to repair for gallic ships thrusting further (for scouting or so) around bretonia cause we all know bretonia would be among the first to fall it would be a nice thing to have a friendly base near

im just giving some options here tho, its nice to have someoen giving feedback and not being like: **** YOU I DONT BELIEVE THIS **** *RAMMS HIS OPINION UP YOUR *SS *

ADMIN Question to Community - Disco - 04-06-2011

Maximus, the outcasts are not allying with the GRN....

I think the idea to finally start developing the story, would be great, especially for Gallia factions.

ADMIN Question to Community - Wolfs Ghost - 04-06-2011

My view, it'll give some of us something to do. My Lynx is collecting dust and rust sitting on Nevers, and frankly, I want to play my character, but I have no motivation to do so.

Quote:My view, it'll give some of us something to do. My Lynx is collecting dust and rust sitting on Nevers, and frankly, I want to play my character, but I have no motivation to do so.

Same reason im selling my Valor...

Its just too boring..

Let someone else have fun for a while.

ADMIN Question to Community - Dennis Jameson - 04-06-2011

1. Moving through Omicron 80 is an unproductive tactic because it'd result in massive casualties for both sides, and let's not forget that Omicron 80 itself is a bloody fortress. It makes more sense to pick on a bunch of miners who lacks the sheer punch that the Outcasts could bring towards that front provided that Malta was threatened.

Also: Om nom nom. Orange planet no touchy.

2. The only logical way to respond to the aggression in Tau 23 (in a purely in-rp way) would be to let both sides wear themselves out while our defensive forces at Cali lay low. But... it'd be rather foolish to surrender a good chance at some activity so it's not a directive which I'll be issuing during these times. Let the good times roll.

3. Nobody in the dev team has informed me how Kirkwall base, and Cali base will handle this... transition to .86, that's the only objection I have towards all this since it doesn't allow for any kind of adaptation on our behalf until it is much too late. At least CR got the courtesy of being told that they were going to get kicked out.

And at last... 4. This move will probably bring some amount of activity to the taus yet again, and as such I'd like to at least have one admin there this time so that the mountains of indies and people who swear in system chat (Hello, Panzer) won't be around forever.

And that's all I have to say really.

ADMIN Question to Community - Panzer - 04-06-2011

1. True. Mines, wrong end of it... meh.

2. Hell no - I'm outta here. Won't give them invadurs the pleasure.

3. Got no intel either, but I figure they'll be too lazy to retag anything and excuse themselves with those bases being hidden or some other [censored]

4. At least this time I'll have the right excuses to murder them all...

ADMIN Question to Community - Stoat - 04-06-2011

Seems like a good call to me. Helps with the progression rather than things just happening in jumps

I was talking about the Outcasts, you muppet. Your / Jansen's faction isn't my concern. :P (But that doesn't mean that I can't empathize with you.)

ADMIN Question to Community - Dusty Lens - 04-06-2011

[4/5/11 1:51:43 PM] Dusty Lens: On the note of trade centers I'm somewhat confused why it is that you guys are pushing the 4.86 war yet aren't making any moves to up trade IN gallia
[4/5/11 1:51:50 PM] Dusty Lens: Where activity is required the most
[4/5/11 1:52:09 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): why is activity required anywhere?
[4/5/11 1:52:24 PM] Dusty Lens: The Taus aren't hurting and introducing a new element for the sake of giving the GRN something to do feels a bit like putting the cart before the horse when an alternative would be to up the trade runs into Gallia
[4/5/11 1:52:43 PM] Dusty Lens: Good point Athenian.
[4/5/11 1:52:58 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): next thing we'll have lobby groups
[4/5/11 1:53:01 PM] Dusty Lens: I'm just kidding, it was a stupid point.
[4/5/11 1:53:12 PM] Dusty Lens: Jokes aside.

***following omitted as it's basically just stupid and doesn't cast some in a good light***

[4/5/11 1:56:06 PM] Dusty Lens: Recently Dieter questioned if we should get the ball rolling on the 4.86 events by enabling GRN forces to begin the Taus invasion.
[4/5/11 1:56:12 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): yes
[4/5/11 1:56:15 PM] Dusty Lens: One of the goals here would be to give the GRN something to do.
[4/5/11 1:56:50 PM] Dusty Lens: However we lack the player structure in the Taus to support this and it would undermind some of the only activity the trade corps have, namely leaving Gallia.
[4/5/11 1:57:40 PM] Dusty Lens: If one of the goals is to provide the GRN with something to do the better goal seems to be, in my view at any rate, to up the commercial worth of 2-3 commodities within Gallia to encourage domestic and foreign trade by both lawful and unlawful elements.
[4/5/11 1:57:49 PM] Dusty Lens: Trade gives pirates and lawfuls alike something to do.
[4/5/11 1:57:51 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): Cool
[4/5/11 1:58:01 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): Maybe something suitably Gallic
[4/5/11 1:58:03 PM] Dusty Lens: Essentially a carrot or two in the back end of Gallia.
[4/5/11 1:58:08 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): Is there a garlic commodity?
[4/5/11 1:58:12 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): Rather than carrots
[4/5/11 1:58:14 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): Wine
[4/5/11 1:58:17 PM] Dusty Lens: But, to answer your question about "why"
[4/5/11 1:58:20 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): Cheese and Condoms
[4/5/11 1:58:27 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): I know why
[4/5/11 1:58:40 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): Because the game stagnates for folk
[4/5/11 1:58:47 PM] Dusty Lens: One of the efforts of the revitalized trade systems Xoria keeps attempting to perfect and the mining system was to both draw persons out of New York and encourage inter system trade.
[4/5/11 1:58:50 PM] Athenian (aka Colm): and they go back to bad habits
[4/5/11 1:59:09 PM] Dusty Lens: While it's common knowledge that not every system will be habitated Discovery and FL works on a system of chokepoints, you don't need universal population so much as you need movement.
[4/5/11 1:59:24 PM] Dusty Lens: Gallia was opened up some time ago but lacks for a worthy trade commodity, this has resulted in zero movement.
[4/5/11 1:59:40 PM] Dusty Lens: Add a trade commodity and see renewed movement through the lower taus and into Gallia itself.
[4/5/11 2:00:19 PM] Dusty Lens: Good trade goods would likely be something along the lines of artifacts, alien organisms going in and wine, holotainment bands going out.
[4/5/11 2:00:39 PM] Dusty Lens: Ideally goods which are specifically consumed and produced in the backend lawful system of Gallia

tl;dr: The Taus are saturated with player presence as it is. There's no need to introduce yet another element into a region in the name of "giving them something to do" or "forwarding a storyline bogged down in dev process" when a much healthier alternative is available which benefits more factions than just the GRN.

Up trade within and out of Gallia to create traffic. Traffic begets unlawfuls. Unlawfuls beget Lawfuls. Lawfuls beget battleships. Battleships beget forum. Good times.
