The gun/software thing had a typo. The fine/penalty on illegal software trading is higher than selling weapons to a pirate last time i checked (this was by memory, so i might be mistaken). Doesn't make too much sense, unless there's a story behind it.

Also: don't tell me most of that, perpetuate that in game!

It was merely an excercise in being the devils advocate. I have no personal problem with weapon dealers needing licenses. In fact it makes sense - it's just that introducing something like that was bound to cause an uproar (same as the guns bill in the US caused troubles).

Right now, Liberty doesn't seem to liberal an area to be in, the rep of liberty lawfulls is at an all time low. I do think there's a way to RP out of that though; things like pointing people to the Questions Bureau, or pointing out the fact that the people voted for certain measures are a very good start.

In my opinion, I feel that the Liberty forces have done well to be fair and honest. But, as many political groups as this, the media and the view of some can tarnish the view of many to their own ideals... (just like real life). I feel the Liberty government has no choice but to keep on their beliefs.. and try to reason with the ones who question it instead of laying down ultimatums.. I feel that this method will win the "hearts and minds" of the populace.. and peace and confidence of the government will be the result of this effort..

In my view of liberty, this protest would have been allowed with open arms, with a sign-in sheet.

Participants would find themselves ganked by a few elite liberty bombers while going through a trade lane in Cortez a few days afterwards.

Ooh. Nice. Although I've heard that SA is trying to soften their rep, so they might not agree to that...

Anyhow, even if the RP behind the protest was a little questionable, it did wonders for new people. And Xinq, if you want to help turn around Liberty 'fascism', make an SA and help them in the coming H-fuel strike. You know, stuff like holding off pirates while you refuel civvy transports, great PR stunts like that. If you have any ideas pm me, I'll see what I can do.

Heh, it's what I would have done last year...:P

But you see, my views on the house militaries are: Bretonia is straightforward but just, Rheinland is harsh, Kusari gets bribes, and Liberty is cloak and dagger.

Liberty should not be outwardly fascist.

I admit this might seems harsh, but that's in my opinion, a game-sided problem. It is very hard to imprison someone in the game, unless both party are very honest in their rp. Let's say you force the other one to land. You'd have to rp out that you are putting the guy in prison and all - but, nothing restrains him from launching when you go away on patrol. He just might say he have rped out he escaped from prison - not very realistical, a bit powergaming, but, it's rp. So, you can only make this a certainty by destroying the ship.

When a trader refuses to meet my demands in Omicron alpha, I take down their shield. that usualy gets them moving. If they still don't listen, you take them down to about 10% hull no bots/bats. Now.. you fly a liberty dread, shouldn't have too much work in beating up the wee little folk who have just commited a misdemeanor.

Now Liberty is a very odd place, the worship of capitolism has made the government protect big business at any cost, all the mojor corporations are Libertonian, and they even hire out their policing to a private company. Private companies operate in order to maximise profits, making weapons dealers pay to open up shop, both pisses on the little guy and makes money/reduces competition for the police.

Liberty IS corrupt and under the thumb of a few HUGE corporate monsters who are controlling the govt without any accountability, my veiw is that the protests are, at heart, about that.

The reason I was there as an Outcast at the funeral was largely propaganda, we're all at it see? The nice fluffy Outcast comes to the funeral of dead kids and openly weeps with grief (its up to you wether that was real or not) thus, profile of Outcast's is raised and the police look like *******s trying to get me to leave. Undermines the police's powers making it easier for me to follow my real objective and get our smugglers into Manhatten.
