Wiki update - Wiki list sorting screws up when prices do not have the "$" in
front of the price. Please add the dollar sign to all price lists and cost fields.

Style Guide updated.

Ok, I'm sorry from being away from Wiki stuff for so long. And I still didn't install the parser, which probably didn't help you much.

Maybe assigning more wiki admins could help? I can't give ftp access, but granting wiki rights is possible.

Wiki - Feedback Thread - chovynz - 09-08-2008

Welcome back. Yes parsers would be nice. Blodo has the specifics.
What other wiki rights are there? If you think that would help, yeah, pick someone.

About Bases pages (also template):

I fail to see the point in listing items Bought. I know they are listed in FL's info screen but... What's the point?

It makes updating a bit arduous.

What program do you use to check out the e.g. base specifics, text etc.?

Another question. How do you link to categories from the text in a page?

Thirdly: How about if we put in the Commodity description if they can be mined and a location? No separate infobox or heading is required, but like in "Water" article something along these lines:

"Omega-3 icefields contain huge amount of water is one of the principal places where water in mined and processed to be transported to whole Sirius sector"

The commodities 'bought' are the things that they buy at a high price.
I don't really know if it's worth putting the 'bought' ones in, I had been
trying to get all the info from freelancer that is worthwhile into wiki.

For example its probably worth knowing or finding out on the wiki that
copper sells for the highest price at Pueblo. But it's not worth listing everything that
can be sold at pueblo. I think I was intending only listing the things in
the highest price game wide in those specific bases (like copper is listed
in Pueblo, but nowhere else - unless theres a higher price than Pueblo.
All the other prices can be discovered.) I wasnt intending on putting the price in there either.

What do you mean it makes updating arduous? time-consuming,
and a drag? Aheh. Welcome to the world of Wiki editing.

"What program do you use to check out the e.g. base specifics, text etc.?"
I use a few programs actually. FLStats, FLExplorer, Datastorm, looking at ini files.
Depends on the info I want. All of them have different info it seems. Each has different purposes.

"another question. How do you link to categories from the text in a page?"
1. There are two questions in that so I'll answer them both.
In the Style Guide > The Basics > Categories section I used a piping link from the
word "Categories" to the overall categories special page. Like this: [[Special:Categories|Categories]]

2. On each page, if you add [[Category:Commodities]] anywhere,
then the category bar (with commodities in it) will appear at the base of the page.
I just did a little test and it's not possible to pipe links to a specific category page, from a specific word.
At least not a way that I know of.

How about if we put in the Commodity description if they can be mined and a location?
What about all the other places that it can be mined in? I hear what you are saying, but I think
that particular "locations that it can be mined in," might need a bullet list. A lot of work but I'm pretty sure it's worth it.

Once I'm finished this <strike>stupid</strike> helpful guide, I can add more actual stuff to the wiki.
Don't be afraid of adding new data to the wiki as we can always reformat it a lot faster than
finding the actual data first off. What I'm trying to do is develop a target, for everyone to try and reach.

The most important thing is getting info into the wiki. The styles can be modified later.

Keep up the good work! And thanks for the transparent communication too. I personally, really appreciate it.
If you see any errors or missed things on my part, feel free to inform me / tell me off.

I see what you mean here. But if there's only one place listed that fetches the highest price (like Pueblo) it restricts the info to be meaningful in wiki to only those who can actually dock there. Personally I don't like items bought too much (I can still see some value in having them in Wiki). I think the wisest thing is to follow the base infocards/texts in this regard.

I meant exactly that; time consuming. But it just is because I use only FLCompanion to help me out. I had some problems with FLStats, but maybe I'll take a look at it again.

Where all these programs can be found?

I meant number 2. The direct links from text to a specific word. But it's good to know the first one also.

I sorta tried to shrank from the part "a lot of work" :) and just give an idea to a reader that some commodities can be mined. My line of thought went something like this. In Water article you mention that it's possible to mine this commodity and I know (straight from memory. I have no way to verify that right now at work) people could add places where it's possible to do it also.

And add a subcategory to Commodities: Mineable commodities.

I don't think any program can tell you (I might be wrong) what can you mine and it's location. If this is so then we should ask the community in some thread to post those places. It'd be even more good looking if people would give out the name of the cloud/nebula instead of coordinates. It would bring more life to it.

The same kind of idea can be applied of course to depots (but in those the coords would have to suffice).

No, I should say thank you for keeping the wiki flame burning. Personally I find those guides very needed and helpful.

Oh, and we desperately need a wiki article A.S. or AS. It's in so many articles already. I just can't remember what the letters mean. I know it's 800 years after Liberty coming to Sirius (planetfall maybe?) or something, but that page would also need a sort of time line for important events.

I'll try to take a look at the IDs, if I can find the explanatory text for them in the .ini files. It would be nice to get them done.

But we'll see. As always as I get home I've got many other things to do.

Wiki - Feedback Thread - MarvinCZ - 09-10-2008

About the IDs... there is a list of available IDs and their desctiptions on the forum:
http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=22427

Edit: I'll throw them in the article..

Wiki - Feedback Thread - looqas - 09-10-2008

Good work Marvin.

This immediately leads to my next question. Should we now link to these tags from faction pages? It might be also worthwhile to link from the NPC faction pages too.

Example http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php/Red_Hessian_Army

I think it would should be made but does it break aesthetically the template?

What do you think?

Wiki - Feedback Thread - Blodo - 09-10-2008

A.S. means After Separation I believe. Either that or Anno Sirius. Could mean either really.

Wiki - Feedback Thread - Caribe - 09-10-2008

It means After Sirius.
