Yes, thats the main point as stated above, why are people angry about core 4 bases when, the base's weapon platforms plus few defenders will easily wave away a battle-group.

Not that a Core 4 base is without weapons platforms and if it is without protection, then I am pretty sure its well defended through diplomacy for not having those platforms.

...and even people who know all that things usually may not have 10 players who are online 24 hrs a day to protect one base. most people don't know exactly when an attack will take place and some people have to sleep sometimes.

There are no hostiles with 10 players who are online 24/7 to siege a base. Most attackers don't know if the defenders will show up and they have to sleep sometimes.

  • You don't need to have 10 people nessecariliy, you can also use the weapons platforms against them
  • You don't need defenders on 24/7. I am sure that with these new times, you can easiliy get some people on to defend the base. Make an inRP comm or something hiring people to defend it.
  • SOME people have to sleep, not all. I'm sure that not 100% of Discos population shares the same bedtime.
  • You didn't know when the attack was coming before, it's spontaneous. If anything though, you at least have the grace of forum RP to alert you that people will be interested in kreiging your base.

To be honest, I just see a lot of Core 4 owners crying over spilt milk. Sure, it may have made a notable difference in base supplying, however bare-bones mechanics are in place so that a base can STILL be defended. Just because your xXMLG420ReinforcedAllyXx power-fortresses are no longer indestructible does not warrant that bases are a useless feature in the mod (even though I still believe it'd be better to ditch the PoB plugin, but oh well...).

Quite frankly loosing the PoB I have would annoy me but the net result would be to reduce the amount of time I have to waste supplying it.

Edit:Some days when reading the forums and seeing the standards of behaviour is enough for me to start thinking ok time to stop playing Freelancer.

I'm not familiar with this "calculate siege time, base damage, cerb damage, etc" stuff, so cannot do the math peoperly. What would happen if the shield damage absorbtion would be 98% instead of 97%? How would siege time be different?

Dramatic increase in number of battleships required.

Fun fact: just tried figuring out with said formula how many cerberus cannons would break even with a shielded stocked core 1. Ten cerberus cannons caused a division by zero.

And if your base is in a system that is not usual y used and you look at the forums and see all these names at the system they you'd be pretty smart to log and see whats up and get your buddies down there too ready to defend the shiz.

It would take 15 BSs with 3 Cerbs each 1hr 29 minutes to destroy a Level 4 Base, with shield and all 3 repair materials.
