Nomad as in, Nomadic, Not alien - Just flying in space in a quest for knowledge, or money (?) in this case.

Should have used "wonderer" then.

well, Goodbye Barge!
hope to see you in another realm.

My opinion, Since Aerelm had an idea for some sort of civilian frigate, repurpose the Barge for it. Make a couple of models. post some polls. y'know, the sort.

make it into stationary bases here and there. maybe make it a model for pob's or something. the barge is a sight to behold.

Since the first post was apparently not clear enough and I keep getting a whole lot of the same question on Skype, here's a more clear reword of what's been said in the first post, in shiny colors too:

Removal of the Barge in its current form is definite. After the next update the Barge as we know it will not exist anymore, so if you want to buy/sell a Barge, do so with that in mind. What's still undecided is what the ship will be replaced with and that's the reason this thread is posted: To brainstorm the possible replacements for the Barge.

So far the most frequent suggestion's been turning it into a "mothership" of sorts, and the team's currently discussing an idea more or less along that line, however, this is still being discussed and we're still open to suggestions. A notice will be posted once the decision is final.

Question: For those factions (and players) who own barges, with their removal would they (in the future) receive a... whatever eventually replaces it in compensation?

I think that goes without saying.

A good reminder. That would actually be something to consider restoring if the barge were remade. The countermeasure hardpoint was deliberately commented out to prevent infinite cloaking, but if the new ammo-based system is implemented as suggested here, all cloak classes will have the same amount of cloak time.

Good question. It sounds like the ship nickname will just be recycled, so after the update all owners will just see the change instantly (like the recent Firefly->Serenity, Wasupu->Suntinga). However, there might be some plan to wipe the server of them and force everyone to start fresh. Hopefully not, so players can see the changes sooner - perhaps they might even go back on sale if they aren't considered to be such moneymakers.

A decision hasn't been made yet.
