Sounds like the immersion is lost on you from the get go anyways, so why even care about rp?
Why does it need to be exactly like real life in order to roleplay? I mean, people RP in Dungeons and Dragons with zombies and magic...

Why can't you just accept things the way they are in the game and roleplay within that framework? Why do you need to try to impose real-world conventions on the game when they don't exist there?

Because I think its a convenient way to get out of paying a pirate his 2 mills.

I don't even pirate to make money, and rarely even ask for that much....as I'm well aware there is a real person on the other side.

But no one, anywhere, in any universe, would respond to a threat of destruction with "just kill me".

At least spice it up and say something along the lines of "my employer will not allow me to pay anything to pirates, therefore I am not permitted"....then start shooting.

Not "just kill me".

Then again you thought someone screaming "admin, admin, admin" was "brilliant", so I have the feeling I'm trying to swim up a waterfall....

Meh, dude, just meh.

For the record, I have never told a pirate "just kill me." I think that's lame and a cop-out--if I were in a position that I would do that, there would at least be a comment about insurance involved. Or maybe all of my trade vessels are piloted by AI and don't care:) I've always either paid or run--I'm not about to give the pirate an easy kill.

My comments about insurance and escape pods are in regard to people who attempt to justify absurdly high demands by saying that the trader pilot should be concerned for the loss of their life or ship -- "50mil is nothing, if you blow up you'll lose a 200mil ship!"

I absolutely do not support "just kill me" traders given normal pirate demands. However, I feel that if a pirate has placed a trader in a position that the trader is better off blowing up than paying or fleeing, it's the pirate's fault for being OORPly disrespectful of the other person behind the computer.

Not "brilliant" as in "that's a fantastic idea, let me go do that," but "brilliant" as in "I can't believe someone would actually try that, and that it actually worked."

Sorry for the confusion.

Oh....well, then I misunderstood and apologize for that.

I agree about ridiculously high demand powerpirates being a problem, but you need to file a report if you see it (as it is a clear violation of 0.0, if nothing else).

People like that should be taught the right way to do things (as per server rules), or gtfo. The same goes for the silent powertrader....I mean why even play? Am I right, or am I right?

My humble opinion of course....

But seriously, how often are people met with such demands? I have been pirated 10M at the most in a supertranny with gold ore onboard, and I still made a fortune. Now I only do all-or-nothing smuggling runs and is more or less "safe" from piracy (of the sort where people make a demand and not just pewpew as the lawful anti-smuggling gank-groups and -factions do), so is this really that big of a problem to lawful traders? Does it really happen that often? Really?
