Subject: Patrol Report — Languedoc/Dauphine Front
Priority: Low

For consultation by the Combined Fleet Command

Hagi squadron conducted a few seeps and scouting sorties on the region of Languedoc and Dauphine, to evaluate enemy formations and provide new information about the frontline. I report one of the latest sorties, where I was accompained by Itto Kaii Umakai Miwa.

We launched from the Hyono and started with a sweep of westernmost quadrants of the Languedoc system. Situation around Planet Quillan remained stable and controlled, but there were traces of increased hostile activities around the remote Planet Ales, likely result of our lines reorganization. Increased partisan and opposing military action is predicted in this area.

Our flight then proceeded to Dauphine system, to recon on the enemy current positions. Rather than heading straight into the barriers of their forces, we circled around eastward through the Clelles Nebula. Within it we stumbled upon an unstable spatial anomaly, akin to a inter-system passage. It was unsuitable for transit of any kind, so we recorded it's current location and left it be.

We continued a sweep on the east side, Montbrison Prison was in range for a few moments. All quiet around there, but it's defenses were intact. So far it appears it has escaped most of the war unscathed, which could either be a good or a bad things, depending on who looks on it.

Not much to report on the north quadrants, other that Ile-de-France jumpgate is no longer being garrisoned by a fleet sized force as it was months before. Intel suggest that most of the reinforcements have reached the front line, and no large battlegroups are inbound at this point in time. Force replenishment units keep trickling in, alongside regular civilian traffic.

A bit further south we came upon a large battlefield area, approximately east on the plane to Fourchambault Shipyard. As other units indicated, the Combined Fleet operation to flank the Gap and assault the Shipyard ultimately was unsuccessful, with severe losses on both sides, but not enough to jeopardize the target installation.

We located the positions of several IKN capital ships, including the Hirado, the Kurayoshi and the Tsuyama. Most of them were disabled beyond repair, and lay inactive among the wrecks of enemy wrecks, most of them identified as part of the Cassard Fleet.

On our return, we checked upon Gap station, which even though it was targeted by the assaults of the past operation, has recovered from the scars of battle and is operating normally, as far as we could assess.

Closer to the gate to the Languedoc system, the Gallic Navy has drawn its frontline, with several heavy units holding ground while more groups muster for future operations. Great caution is advised Command, there might be intents for an Gallic offensive soon. Such possibility must be corroborated by other Intel reports.

We returned to Nagasaki and Hyono without incident, and returned to our bases.

That concludes my report.

Reports of increased activity in the fringes of Languedoc system proved accurate, as the Enclave launched a major operation in the system at the very moment our second offensive in Dauphine was initiated.

Planet Quillan operation zone photo

The Gallic Exiles have sent substantial bulk of their remnant forces, and pressed and occupied the Quillan zone, until now a non-combat zone due to the civilian centers. Our recon groups confirmed the presence of well known Rocroi and Montmorency flagships, leading the enemy measuring over one full fleet worth of firepower.

However, it seems their objectives are not a rear flank attack on our forces in Dauphine, for the time being. Instead we have detected a large volume of transport traffic coming to and from Planet Quillan, mostly from unmarked civilian craft. Gallic freighters, hired freelancers and smugglers flying under fake transponders have seen shipping out large quantities of what is highly probable to be military hardware, and in return are ferrying scores of humans, if we go by the life signatures in their holds.

WattoBattu - Freelancer transport with fake credentials - 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

Gunther.Fischer - Smuggler flying under an ALG transponder - 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

Victoire - Gallic Exile transport - 1 / 2

Naval Intelligence believes that Royalists sympathizers were hiding within the civilian administration of the planet and arranged for the creation of military workshops and production plants on the mining colony, producing and stockpiling large amounts of military supplies to be shipped out when the exiled fleets were able to create an opening. It is likely believable that the Exiles are freeying large quantities of either soldiers to fortify their hold on the planet, or bringing prisoners or slaves to boost their production output in the factories with minimal cost.

Kusari Naval Intelligence request an immediate blockade to all civilian traffic on the entirety of the system, and once airspace control is wrested of the exiled forces, systematic orbital or high altitude bombardment of the industrial centers on the planet surface.

Konbanwa,

I hereby report of an incident in the Tau-37 system.
Santo Kaisa Ji-yeon Hwang entered the Tau-37 in his Wyvern and gave me - I was just about to give the newly calibrated "Nova" Launching System on my Umibozu a field test in Tau-23 - a call that he initially ran into just two heavy transports operated by a Golden Chrysanthemum Cell and an Outcast bomber. A detailed ship list will be included below.
To keep it simple, after a most tiring, for Cardamine addicts most typical senseless conversation, a third heavy transport appeared and a fight emerged. One more heavy transport, this time operated by the Outcasts, appeared during the skirmish and engaged us. Following the appearance of a Ranseur-class Warship, the heavy transports slowly fled the scene. Due to the sustained damage on our side and a lack of more firepower, the heavy transports - though damaged - managed to escape.

With the notification of the IKN-Kaga, the proud Takeda of the Emperor's Fangs being on its way to us, we kept the Ranseur-class pinned.
Together with the IKN-Kaga we countered every obstacle in our way this day. Soon after the first crucial hits on the Ranseur-class, Chrysanthemum Vessels and an Outcast Fightercraft - one by one rapidly - started to flood in and joined the battle.

Before I come to picture the end result of this battle, I shall list all involved vessels below including their last known status.

Enemy side:
  • GC-Fuyuzora - Akegata-class heavy transport - Fled the scene damaged

  • GC-Yanagi - Aspis-class heavy transport - Fled the scene slightly damaged

  • >ZC|Neptuno - Falcata-class Bomber - Fled the scene damaged

  • GC-Hatsuyuki - Akegata-class heavy Transport - Fled the scene damaged

  • -|-Cagliari - Aspis-class heavy transport - Fled the scene slightly damaged

  • Susurro-del-Vacio - Ranseur-class Dreadnought - Destroyed

  • >ZC|El.Chango - Rapier-class Fightercraft - Destroyed

  • GC-Ayakura,Tomoyo - Small craft, shiptype not identified - Destroyed

  • GC-Hoshihokori - Tridente-class Gunboat - Destroyed

  • GC-Yamada.Mariko - Iris-class Fightercraft - Destroyed

  • GC|Satsumi.Miyasaki - "Raven's Talon" class Fightercraft - Fled the scene heavily damaged

Our Forces:
  • [KNF]Ii.Umakai:Miwa - Umibozu-class Bomber - Survived with moderate damage

  • EF|Kaga - Takeda-class Destroyer - Survived without even a scratch

  • [KNF]Sk.Ji-yeon.Hwang - Wyvern-class Fightercraft - Destroyed

This battle in Tau-37 turned into a glorious victory for us - where we, through minimal numbers but maximum efficiency turned a considerably larger force into dust.
Hwang-san's loss could have been avoided but the removal of this pests holds a higher priority than a retreat and giving them an opportunity to flee. Most unfortunately, despite his best efforts, Hwang-san's Wyvern suffered too much damage throughout the battle to take on a fresh-out-of-the-dock Fightercraft.
Due to the distance between me and this duel, the subject also managed to flee the scene heavily damaged. Hwang-san returned to the Nagasaki onboard the Kaga.

That is all for today.

In the name of the Emperor and its people, we shall stand vigilant.

Konbanwa,

Today I report in with an unusual matter.
With the end of the conflict with Gallia, despite the formalization still pending, I took it on myself to travel one last time to the Languedoc system.

We lost many but fought furiously, we stood against a foe outnumbering us and yet we were victorious in the final battle of Languedoc.
It cost everyone of us a friend, a partner, a brother or sister, a comrade. A price never undone and unable to be repaid. A price we willingly risked to pay for Kusari.
We stood bravely, my friends. We will never forget what we saw there and we shall never forget the losses.
So many vessels lay abandoned and disabled in Languedoc now, among them the vessel I have served on for many years now.
I wish to make use of this opportunity to say my final farewell to the Yamaguchi and the crew unable to escape this grim faith. Barely anyone of my wing made it out of the final battle.

I was Yamaguchi's barkeeper during peace times, using the calm patrol plan to socialize and sweeten every guests day in my spare time. I have spoken to many, daily, I had many friends among them. Friends now gone.
I do not judge the Government, the Shogunate or the Emperor for the faith of the Yamaguchi, nor will I embrace hatred and blame the Gallics entirely.
I will instead mourn for my friends and every fallen comrade and foe in silence and with honor. I ask you all to do the same, to accept the grim destiny of this conflict but not to blame other humans for it, especially not to let sadness and hate overcome you and blur your vision for the important things: Kusari and her people.

Additionally, I forward a single request to the Kaigun. Do all you can to retrieve the wrecks and corpses. They shall not be left on foreign soil.

With every loss in heart, we shall stand strongly to keep Kusari safe, whatever may happen.

Ii. Umakai Miwa
The last of the Yamaguchi

I wish to relay a report from one of the wings operating in the border regions of Kusari, as they have found something unusual. A patrol escorting a logistic convoy going to Tomioka planet has spotted strange installations in early stages in orbit of the planet, dangerously set on the same altitude as the standard docking ring terminals used for safe landing.

While unknown what purpose the structure might have, since it springs such gaikokujin concepts such as "charity", it is evident that it might pose a navigational hazard to the planet traffic, specially if it's allowed to increase in size.

We await further orders on how to proceed.

Nagato Command, Nagasaki escort forces speaking.

Agent "Karasu no Kage", this appears to be an illegal installation in its earliest stage of construction.
There are no mentionings of a charity project in any official channels and thus the purpose of this installation is to be questioned.
While Samura Heavy Industries prefers to stick to their own within Tottori, it appears wise to further monitor this installation from now on.

Report from my routine patrol.

First and foremost, a freelancer without a proper name approached me, asking for Naval Forces Pilot Records from the old Republic. I personally don't have access to things that old, but I did direct him to the last known location of the pilot he was looking for. He wouldn't tell me who his employer was, what he needed it for, or anything like that, so it'd be in our best interests to add {AC}=Wreckter to any list of suspicious persons we have. He seemed to be headed in the direction of the restricted jump anomalies by Fort Wakkanai, but I didn't follow to confirm.

Next, I performed my patrol of the Kusari Trade Networks, from Ohashi Border Station, through all lanes in New Tokyo, to Otaru Border station. Along my way, I encountered little cause for concern. All stations, lanes, and gates were found to be functioning properly. No resistance was found on my forward trip.

On my return trip, however, I encountered an Outcast using the transponder code HS>, which I have never seen before. The ship in question was the HS>L'ucello~di~Prof. He was located at Shinjuku Station, and attempted to flee in the direction of Planet New Tokyo. Half way down the lane, he jumped out, and fled towards the Kanto field. I stopped him, and demanded his surrender. He refused, and was defeated shortly thereafter by myself. Almost immediately after, a Golden Chrysanthemum terrorist piloting the GC|Hana-2 arrived, presumably called as backup for the Outcast. She, too, was defeated by me. My patrol was concluded without any further incidents.

Report from a less than usual call for aid.

Approximately forty minutes ago, a call for aid by the Hyuga, a Tokugawa belonging to one of the secondary fleets, reached the Sado.
Upon launch, I have encountered them already engaged in a fight with a "Praefect"-class Corsair Cruiser. I did not waste any time with asking questions about the how and why, which in hindsight appear to be interesting questions to ask.
Readying my Cruise Disruptors and weaponry, I did not hesitate to engage into close range combat with the Cruiser. With its gunners too occupied failing to hit me sufficiently, they sustained heavy damage by the Hyuga.
Long story kept short, the Cruiser attempted to flee into the Nampo Cloud. Due to the worsened visuals, it was upon me to give the vessel the final blow.

That was everything worth mentioning.

As my first report flying for the Naval Forces, I have some good news.

While patrolling Tau-53, currently guarding around Misaki Station, my scanners picked up signals of a Golden Chrysanthemums fighter flying too close to the station, and the automated defenses of Misaki and the closeby Battleship Matsumoto activated. I told them to cut their engines, and fired a cruise disruptor at them, at which point they flew into the thicker clouds outside of the range of the automatic defense turrets. I followed the feminist into the fog, where they decided to engage in a session of philosophical semantics with me whilst symbolically cloaking their ship. I guess the GC always were pretty dramatic about things. I humored them for a short while until I reminded myself that they are most likely stalling for backup, so, not wanting to waste any more time, I demanded the criminal to fight with honor, as her kind so rarely does. It was a close fight, but I managed to come out on top in the end, although my ship will be needing plenty of repairs after that.

Report from my routine patrol, registering the ship Majima. and its pilot to the Kusari Criminal Database.

During my patrol of the trade networks in New Tokyo, I found a freelancer sporting Adapted Nomad technology, outlawed by Kusari Legal Codex Section 4, article 1, mounted on a Series Z Sabre heavy fighter, outlawed by Section 5, article 4. After much stalling on his part, offers for compensation for replacement weaponry, and eventual disclosure of possibly important information, the target docked on Shinjuku and failed to return despite my kind and professional attitude, violating Section 2, article 4. The identity of the target is Majima. . After interrogation, he claimed to be employed by the Hogosha Association, and the ship to be a property of theirs. Given that he refused to turn over his nomad technology, and is sporting illegal ships, I doubt the honesty of his claims. However, I do believe communications should be made regarding false claims of employment. They may have internal or external issues that they are unaware of. The honorable House Kusari has no place in it for liars and criminals, and the Hogosha should not be plagued with people falsely claiming to be employed by them.
