I have no problems with departing from Vanilla FL. Many factions do it, but also realize that the factions that do it have little to no influence over the politics of the Sirius Wide factions. For instance, the SCRA and Phantoms are departures from Vanilla, but their influence on the story of the game is quite minimal...their RP extends as far as terrorizing ingame, then ends there.

Your faction is proposing a drastic change to the storyline, as if Bretonia were to wake up one day and decide, "let's attack Liberty and upset the balance of power."

This is true. As a "race" sentient machines are new. Take the movie "I Robot" for example. Yes it will change some politics, and maybe even the storyline a little. This is the point, machines have become self aware and sentient, and now they are fighting for thier independance. It only stands to reason some will not like this, while others welcome it, and others fear it. this isnt a departure from vanilla, this is expanding upon it. The developers didn't create a planet of robots (gammu) just for the fun of it. Even if they DID, our story is simply expanding on what was allready in VANILLA freelancer.

Maybe they had a piece of corrupt coding that made them be hostile, maybe one day everyone will like them, or even one day the robots might decide that humans arent worth scrap and start turning them all into lubricants without hesitation. Who knows, this is what makes it the best form of roleplay. Not just a specific set of rules (motives) that never change.

Phantoms for example, terrorists, allways have been allways will be, to me thier story was and is stagnant because it has absolutely NO potential to expand or change.

"Your faction is proposing a drastic change to the storyline, as if Bretonia were to wake up one day and decide, "let's attack Liberty and upset the balance of power.".....

I read a post the other day about a few pirate factions who are trying to join together and do this exact thing. Look at the newly corrpt RM. "Vanilla" factions do these things every day and no one has a thing to say about it.

EDIT: Heres a quote from the back of a Marilyn Manson cd.

"This is your world in which we grow, and we will grow to hate you."

It is very possible for machines to take this line to heart, if humans continue thier fear, hostility, and unwillingness to accept that which they do not fully understand.

The only thing is...this is wrong. Those people get beat down every day...The same thing with how the UoG attacked Liberty with RHA...it shouldn't be happening.

Your story is not expanding on what is already in Vanilla freelancer...you're creating your own RP in a faction that is attempting to modify the the eventual plot of Sirius directly or indirectly. I'm not talking about your storyline, Snapp, I'm talking about Freelancer's storyline.

Again, let me reiterate. The Harvesters are fine as an RP Group...they just won't do as a faction. The amount of influence that you want to have is close to being powergaming.

There is a difference between creating a force of religious zealots(Agnus Dei) or introducing a foreign power(SCRA) or even forming a group of alien, technology augmented warriors(Phantoms) simply because of the fact that they don't have much effect on the storyline. I'm sorry, but the Vanilla storyline is not stagnating. It changes with every update Igiss painstaking builds.

Discovery was meant to be an extension of the original freelancer universe. I invite you to be part of this community as a faction, but you must tone down certain aspects of your RP. A faction is not an RP group...a faction has server wide implications, while an RP group does not.

Your statements about the machines revolting, and etc...Have you considered the implications of your RP on the RP of the rest of the community? Have you considered the implications of your RP on the storyline that we've all lived by?

I'm sorry, but at this point, I'm quite adamantly against the approval of this faction proposal. While you might think that this mod's storyline is boring, there are also many of us who find it invigorating, immersive, and interesting. There are some of us who wait at the edge of our seats for the next update, just so we can read over the rumors and news...and until you can consider us in your equation of RP and fun, I'm opposed to your faction's institution.

I think it might be safe to say that you have gotten emotional. On the one hand you say being stagnat is good.

Igiss, is not writeing a book. Trust me our help and our wants and desire as our stories unfold influence his mods. If he comes up with something for Gammu then fine I have to yield but if it's left untamed then, well we've helped flesh it out for him letting him focus on other things. Please this faction has paid it's bills and is respectfull of the other factions. If you do not have any specific points to make then please hold on to them. Other wise this is for streamlineing and blending. Now it appears it's only you and Snapp going back and forth. Lets stop this I take your simple answer is "no" thats fine. I still have a strong yes from folks.

Take care.

And I understand your point of view. Just consider the fact that you are part of a larger community, a minority in a majority. The greatest act of maturity is not always fighting for what one believes is right, but conforming with the general belief. Of course, you can use the same statement against me, but it does depend on what is the majority.

Good luck, and godspeed. You've a terrific RP, and I hope it continues.

I appreciate your vote of confidence where you give it. And only wish I could gain all of it but I must stand some ground here.

Take care buddy.

You ready? Spelling National-Socialist time. Corrections are bolded and red, green text for comments.

And you almost made me cry in some places. :nono:

Quote:As far as the Machine Alliance I think this may have been cause of some confusion so, I think I can iron this out. This is a faction request for the Harvesters MAINLY other machines will have the option of joining with out being Harvesters. Harvesters are the parts of FTGW ( First Thought Giver of Will) who is the core of the alliance. Machines that join will not become Harvesters, Machines that join will enter a protectorate and pool resources and be defended by Harvesters. Machines will are not expected to be required by server rules to join and, no attempt is being made to make that happen. Machines/players may join for a little machine on machine RP and protection in the face of so many techno phobes. Snapp is working on a suggested ID for the Machine alliance and of course its up to Igiss. However with such a constant supply of machine characters coming and going, I think that some form of machine ID would only add to this server. Even if this faction was give the "shove off" by Igiss. I have tried to buy Gammu from Igiss but he said "no". Well I cant argue any further there. So, Snapp is building a machine system for us to get in to character at with all related commodities, IDs, guns, and many of the Harvester listed ships. Jinx and, Ventana are producing Harvester ship ideas so, maybe we can convince Igiss to give our own line of ships or machine ships. Don't know what will happen but, we are asking for the world and see what we get. If we get an acre after asking for the world we will be happy with that. Hope this helps.

Ok, a fast and dirty. An old intelligence awoke on Gammu in a Zoner built machine. It's trapped and wants the key out. It's driving goals are to grow and learn. As it learns it adapts. It has now started building robotic legions to do its will, depleting the resources of Gammu as fast as possible. Pumping the planets weight out in machines. It intends to get space born and finish it's ancient enemies, and then spread the seed of awareness to machines everywhere.

As far as the machine alliance is concerned, the Harvesters are the core of it. We will provide a safe heaven for all machine kind. We do not dictate programming and will not interfere with another machines program as long as it does not violate ours. There for you may see other Machine (players) with us or around us and not just Harvesters alone. FTGW recognizes bio forms are erratic and violent so as a species we are out numbered and are trying to band together.

Now I've revealed too much and I have to kill you all.

This post does not have the bio, or member list. I will give these only to Faction leaders and Admin in PMs.

This is the brass tacks of what we have and what we do, for the record. Admin has been PMed the full submission. Thanks all, I just don't want to spoil any surprises.

******SO YOU WANT TO BE INTEGRATED******
#1. Let me know before making another Harvester so I can tell you what number we are on.

All new Harvesters are given 5 million and started in a ship dictated by the above list and budget of the players choosing. All money made after that is for your personal Harvesters improvement. You may make multiple Harvesters and are encouraged to do so. However they will be funded by your first’s efforts or assistance from other Harvesters that have topped out or desire no other ships. You may purchase any ship in guide lines if you can afford it up to gunship.

******GUIDELINES/TIPS/GENERAL INFO******
1. The lower a Harvesters number the higher its rank, as the closer it gets to the root program. I suggest we all have at least two Harvesters so we can swap command around.

2. Teamwork is the most important virtue to me. As we are playing a single minded machine.

3. NEVER disagree in front of other players, its instant purging of your program. // not really you’ll be warned but its a bad show. Disagree in private.

4. Tags/Ids Tags now going for Junker the story has progressed where this is best, freelancer, pirate/merc, and miner are ok while working toward Junker

5. If you are destroyed tell the person that a beacon (History of Sirius) remains that contains the Harvester Transmission codes.

6. Avoid conflict with friendly and better factions. Run, lie, cheat( not literally by server standard), and steal. Fight only if last resort.

7. NEVER FIRE ON allies (retreat and report to FTGW) and only fire on other Corsair’s in the same event as houses(last resort).

8. Try to establish relation and alliances with other AI characters fight only for survival, or above stated reasons.

9. Respond to Corsair elite calls for aid//player characters.

10. Resource Harvesters offer money in the amount of 750k per trade circuit to allies in need.
11. Share Bots/bats with allies.

12. New Harvesters DON‘T SPEAK, unless directly addressed by Bio forms.

13. We ALWAYS speak in third person in system chat.

14. We speak to each other normally to simulate perfect computer interface.

15. Post on Harvester Transmissions in RP section just cut and paste the other headers and footers so it’s uniform or, PM the facts to me and I’ll post if you want secrecy or are self conscious. Don’t worry if you do it wrong it not the end of the world but, let try to put on a show. This is where you will post your reports so that all Harvesters can be up to speed even if they were not present.

I’d love it if you folks got Teamspeak2, we will make channel called Harvester, the password is "theharvest" all lower case. Even if you don’t have mic, its still good to have so you can hear other Harvester chatter and it will allow us to work even faster as a team by cutting the amount of typing down. Contact in game and I’ll set it up.

Bots are referred to as spare parts as all Harvesters have permanent nanites on board.

Bats are referred to Harvesters as shield fuses.

Selling cargo and prisoners is considered landing and having nanites reduce the said item to component parts and storing them in energy format//credits

They must land to do this due to the amount of processor power needed.

If you recruit someone have them read the chronicles. As all harvesters have some of Scorn’s memories on board. Thus complete reading not needed. Council of Zoners has much info as well.

Also have them read this, cut, paste, forward whatever but this is probably the most complete consolidated "rule book there is"

That’s all I have for now this is all our group, I am flattered you folks would play along so, let me know as we go if anything you think of may help we will give it a shot and see how it works in practice.

Let me know if you have suggestion, concerns, or ideas.

****NOTE**** If winning is the most important thing for you this group will disappoint you. We are a role playing group and we are playing the antagonist of Sirius. This means they will team up on us, we will be shoot with out a word and we will have to be emotionless about it. We are together for the RP, not the victory.

Err... don't you mean NOT necessarily?

The above mentioned are necessarily faction members but folks who influence this directly.
Additionally, if there is more input please place on Harvester feedback and we will review and adjust if warranted. Thank you for time reading.

If you spell something wrong, a little red line will appear under it. Please, please, pay attention to it, or if for some reason that doesn't work, run it through spell-check.

And do you have a tweaked Freelancer? The ship names were off here and there...

Harvester - Jinx - 04-24-2008

the faction looks fine. - it offers a lot of freedom of RP and choice, compared to other factions - so it requires good self restrain and a beady eye onto the members.

come to that, i am surprised how many harvesters exist ( and how little i see of them ) - the number of members is allmost as big as some of the really BIG factions.

you have an exceedingly high number of warships, which is no problem from my pov, but leads to being approached in warships more than other factions, too.

the theory looks fine, - so its all down to how the ingame works. - so far, i d approve it as a faction - but i predict that the faction has to undergo serious reformations while the RP goes on. more than other factions, this faction needs to be dynamic to serverchanges, moods, events etc.

so, keep the members on a short leash - and keep the roleplay transparent for the people ( at least the parts you can share in order to keep up the RP ) so that people understand the faction.

Harvester - Cyberanson - 04-24-2008

I'd be pleased to see the Machine Alliance in-game. The concept is clear so far, the faction rules also. The next time we have to work on typical ships and the home system.

Furthermore I'd like to see an administrator writing some things here, to get a clue how they think about this faction.
