With the icons it might be an idea to manually space it off the icons rather than the words. We can use <br> to give another line break. It's ugly background sneaky stuff but the shortness of the Pilot descriptions, compared to the size of the icons dont really allow for much else - in list format.

I guess another way would be to use some thing like in the System Style Guide where we have a CSS box, with the name at the top and the description under the name, next to the icon of the pilot. Then those CSS boxes are grouped under the various headings.

Dunno. Blodo. What you think?

Well, we could make it in a table. That would look pretty nice. Picture on the left, name and description on the right. I can design the table if you want to.

Also Arendyr posted weapon projectile types in separate articles. What do you guys think about merging all that into one article for comparison and cleanliness? Since the articles itself aren't bad (just need spelling fixes) but they hold too little info to facilitate any article bigger than a stub.

I say a table of sorts for the Pilots article is a splendid idea.

And go ahead with merge. It's easier to compare the strengths and weaknesses that way.

PS. Take a look at the Systems Guide discussion and voice your opinions about it.

I've been looking at the Alliance, Coalition, and War of Sol pages and I'm sorry to say that they are a bit inaccurate. They say eight ships launched when in reality only five launched (Praetyre has convinced me of that) and also the War of Sol says that the war started in 1950, which makes no sense since the narrator in the FL intro said "It was the 23rd century...The war had been raging for ALMOST A HUNDRED YEARS." This means that the war ended sometime in 2200 A.D. and started sometime in 2100 A.D. If it started in 1950, the war would be 250 years old. I may do some editing later.

Factions:
I was about to ask Arendyr (our new wiki editor) to split up the pages that he has just made, the Liberty Rogues. However upon reading it, re-reading, and thinking about these specific pages, he may have jumped onto a good thing. Also done by Arendyr LaneHackers, Zoners.

Currently we have Liberty Rogues, and the Liberty Rogues player faction.

I think there is potential for a good organization here. The idea I have is expanded upon what Arendyr has already done. Simply this. The NPC factions should just have the infocard info, and list the affiliated player factions underneath, with links. The Player factions will remain separate as they currently are.

Discuss.

I dunno. I was thinking about "upgrading" those three articles a bit to this standard: http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php/Red_Hessians

Good point.

Still, is there any room on the NPC faction pages to list a link to the Player
groups of that affiliated NPC faction? Perhaps under Diplomacy with a purple
colored box showing the player factions? Or maybe in another infobox
underneath the Factions main one?

I'm not opposed to splitting them up, just discussing the possibilities of
having the affiliated Player factions linking from the NPC page as well.

My respects to all members and editors to the Discovery Wiki,

Unfortunately I made several mistakes while editing the Discovery Wiki pages - like in the Lane Hackers, where I copied from the www.freelancer.wikia.com, a Freelancer Vanilla page which is overdue. I wolud like to ask for the correction, that what is the official Lane Hacker history? The player group's, the one found in the game in a Lane Hacker base info - like Mactan - or soemthing else?

New: I've written a new article about the Bounty Hunters Guild in the same way, should I create the Allies-Enemies box?

New:I have, and i filled the topic about the Lane Hackers and the Liberty Rogues the same way, I also added a faction box.

Good work Arendyr. A lot of good and needed pages.

Then on to the topic I'd like to discuss.

Those dockable planets and places. I did put a new landing plateau picture to New London. My original idea was to put only the pictures of those 6 "Home Planets", but then I realised that all those dockable bases have the landing hall/plateau/whatever. Those pics take about 130-140 kB space per picture so that times the number of bases can eat up a sizable portion of the space available.

Igiss: Are we bandwidth limited since obviously the more pictures the heavier bandwidth usage would then have to be taken into account.

By the way, how many bases Disco does have?

What do you guys think?

Wiki - Feedback Thread - chovynz - 09-23-2008

I wouldnt worry about it the size of it. The bandwidth only gets used when the person views it.

140 Kbs isnt actually much. However i've been able to save it at a lower quality down to 61Kbs. It doesnt look much different, so I think its acceptable.

How many bases?? Lots and lots. average guesstimate, 100 systems x 4 bases approx = 400 bases. Very approx.
