No, it isn't, but flying out to the asteroid field along with a transport and mining while he fills his hold and keeps watch for pirates (while exchanging the latest news from wherever he's recently been in Sirius) is. Plus, the small cargo holds I suggested for mining vessels would greatly reduce (or even eliminate) miners just sitting around selling ore. Think about it: one transport with a cargo hold of 4000 would have to buy ore from 20 miners if the miners only have a cargo hold of 200. Either that, or one miner would have to make 20 trips. The future of mining? - Nille - 03-02-2011 I really like mining, even if it isnt that profitable. I say turn it back on, but cut its profits. People want mining, and people want more trading. Just make the trading the most profitable again and make mining not very profitable. Just dont nerf the amount yield, that would really kill mining! Just try mining for cobalt in o7 and you will understand what I mean. On a closing thought: Stop being so angry at cannon. Without cannon most of the great things we have woudn't exist. give reasons, not just wraaar! anyways cannon, I like mining, but I can also understand other peoples point of view. I disagree. if taking ore from mininers will take so very long, traders will stop doing it. I know vito isn't a fan of mining. But the way we wanted to set up trade in DHC was pretty sweet. Traders could come and buy it from ous and go sell it. This would provide actual trading, a way for pirates to continue and a way for house police and militarys to consider tightning securty. The problem mostly was, most traders end up in Dublin. I dont know how to fix that. Nerfing only Dubin, will shift the problem, while we would want a spread... It is actually pure disbelief that admins could actually make such a poor decision. Surely they could foresee the problems that this will cause. Many ships and factions now do not have a reason to even exist. If this is kept it will kill your player base by half. Mark my words. And in actual fact, no mining means nothing else can happen. You need raw materials to manufacture goods. So, RP will suffer heavily for this. The future of mining? - rwx - 03-02-2011 You could remove the uncut/ore stuff and replace it with "normal" commodities. So the profit is only a bit higher, but who wants to mine, can stay at mining. Montezuma said exactly what i was thinking. :) The future of mining? - Backo - 03-02-2011 ' Wrote:You could remove the uncut/ore stuff and replace it with "normal" commodities. Xoria offered this option back in the days of yore, when the new trade system had just been implemented. I think I speak for many casual players out there: We like our FL with a healthy side dish of RP. That's why we're here. However, RL is a precious commodity - providing you have a RL outside of this game. Mining turned off? Oh well, back to the silent trade runs. I'll get to chat with other traders as frustrated as myself by the current situation. And I'll get to run into some other players who hate trading even more than myself - pirates. It would seem that grinding for credits, as maligned as it is by the righteous of the playerbase, is apparently a core element of this game. The future of mining? - Dashiell - 03-02-2011 Turn it back on. It's a part of Disco. and mining factions need it. They're being killed off now just as they were becoming rather alive again. Plus it's a nice alternative to brainless traderuns as the trade system is also kind of wonky. Why always remove stuff to 'fix' problems? The problem will just shift and all that has happened is a few factions died needlessly along the way. And no, I don't have a miner nor am I in a mining faction. The future of mining? - Ceoran - 03-02-2011 ' Wrote:i have an idea. how about we increase ore yields tenfold and have the ores sell CHEAP (1/20 of the current sell point price) at refineries such as ld14 or graves / java / freistadt / etc , where regular traders can pick up and go sell refined metals to other houses? I actually like that idea. Make the entire mining scrap-like. The future of mining? - welshdemon - 03-02-2011 yes please turn it back on do not let the idiots rule this game i want to learn and saving up for a miner so i need this to be turned back on thanks for hearing me. |
