EDIT: i can gt your point thouh EDIT2: I personally tried to spend my activity on 'deserving' factions such as KNF. But i dont see the point as they just dont have anything interesting to offer other then powertraders and the occational pirates. The fact is not all of the whinning but what we (the old players back in 4-5 years ago) experienced with these guys was a legacy and a experience that will not be forgotten. With that being said, The Phantoms should be extinct - none revived. It was player made and it should die with the retiring faction owner. Renaming it would be fine, but the experience won't be as same as before. I have bad feelings that this 'terrorist' faction will go down hill with the players we have now-a-days in this community. Like that proposed Phoom background from another server that someone posted. why is it that feedback and constructive criticism that isn't perfectly aligned with the hopes/fears/dreams of the op's intent are QQ and rage? return of phantoms - bad idea rebranding of phantoms - bad idea (if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, why should i give a duck if you say it's not a duck?) rebalancing of phoom ships, equipt, bases - sure. that's not Phantom lore, those were toys that they earned through rp, and now that they aren't being used anymore, it makes perfect sense to utilise them in the mod, rather than keeping them in the attic gathering dust. HOWEVER, what about the other servers that use disco mod and have active phoom factions? won;t they be a little discommoded by this sudden volte face? I thought the reason that those bases and equipt were kept in the mod was for the express purpose of facilitating the phoom gameplay on other servers, despite the fact that they were dead and buried here. what happens to the other servers? do we let them flap in the wind, without update 7? or do we force them to follow what a certain self-confessed nostalgically-prone admin created within the depths of his mind, rather than fixing the myriad of other problems that this woefully under-populated (compared to 85) server struggles with on a daily basis? Where is the player base's input on this? was Virus contacted about this a priori? was there a 'do you think we should bring back the phooms?" thread? When the player base isnt consulted, and a change is imposed, and the player base doesn't react like schoolgirls at a beiber concert, but like right-thinking tool-using hominids, then the mere fact that there was no consultation makes it very hard to step down from the position of 'we are going to impose buffer systems' (for example), and so there is bad feeling all round. Make us feel valued. make us feel wanted. i play here - and im only one voice in the dark - but this kind of bullpoo means that my eagerness to play is diluted by the torrent of ill-feeling towards the developers that arises everytime i fly through lambada, or see my cruise engines kill my laser power (to balance pvp - ON AN RP SERVER). From the polls, about this and other issues, i can see that im not alone in thinking this way. Soon, this server will exist of two groups of players, divided up between 250 factions, with three hundred POB's each. those players? Admins and Devs, every man jack of them. RE: Admin Notice: Phantoms 2.0 - Singularity - 02-03-2014 As a relatively "Newish" guy, I never have known what the "Phantoms" were and what RP atmosphere was surrounded near them. And I am pretty sure, I am inexperienced to give my opinion here as I have no idea about them and consequences that have led to such negativity to their revival. But as a curious guy, I would love to see them in space. Of course, Nothing should I recommend for ships, balances and other issues, because I don't know what was there and what had happened ![]() |
