Usually I just end up feeling sorry for the guy and leaving :$ Give me your 'whatever you used' machine now or DIE! I mean or you'll get annoyed by a light fighter. Piracy roleplaying - dodike - 05-24-2011 Actually, mercenaries are far worse than pirates. They just shoot people, no questions asked. Piracy roleplaying - Pancakes - 05-25-2011 Stop the Q_Qing jeez. I have fun pirating, like I did yesterday, it depends on the person, if he stops after I halt him and wait up, I actully bother to give some GOOD RP and even most of the time I don't even demand credits or whatsever., but if he silently thrust his way to the nearest station, I drop a 3 million credits for your life message and then kill him. Really, depends on the person. ' Wrote:Why so? They just dropped a: "Your head is bountied, and paid good, and I am here to claim that bounty" /1 message. no need to wait for payment, no chance to run, simply... poof... Piracy roleplaying - dodike - 05-25-2011 ' Wrote:Why so? No, mercenary and bounty hunter RP is still allowed. Piracy roleplaying - Not Espi - 05-25-2011 ' Wrote:Also, Vlko, I gave you what you wanted and you haven't even acknowledged it:( yes, well, it is a nice example, but ... i'll be blunt - some people do it that way for the first few times. or at least try to. many people i know used to do it this way - have a short chat and try to explain what they need your goods / cargo for... it doesn't work. 19 out of 20 traders / haulers you meet will simply thrust in silence. IF a guy is sitting still, you CAN talk, but it is very, VERY likely, that there is a wing of lawful forces on their way towards you. that forces you as a pirate to be less chatty, and more aggressive. it is unfortunate, but this descending spiral is here. you as a player and a meber of the community only contribute to it's effects with your 'i will shoot my cargo' attitude. you can, but the pirates will only get more agressive in the long run. and i'm not saying it's a bad thing to try to run, but if you want to pull off the 'silent runner rp' card, the pirate will pull out the '/lx /ly pew pew rp' one. and both are legit. it's just a question of how you build up your character. as for pirates being 'greedy' and asking for all of your cargo - for example a corsair character is best roleplayed if they is trying to shut down economies of both bretonia and rheinland - ie. successfully sabotaging all traffic in the omegas. if it is ore, it is inconvenient for the hauler and MIGHT be considered 0.0, but it is good roleplay. in the end, nobody can say whether they do or don't have a friend in a transport nearby to pick up the loot. that loot will later (if the pirate is not a complete twat to sell it on a random base for 50 credits) be picked up by a smuggling parties (generating further roleplay between the two) and the profits are adequately split between the pirates and smugglers. in time - you will, hopefully, find out, that the only reason why you are angry is merely a set of zeroes and ones represented as pixels. is it worth it? it's a game. make a pirate. don't be sorry - it's just pixels and bits. try your approach. be the bigger person. if you feel sorry, you can just always send the money back and only do it for the encounter. do you know which <strike>traders</strike> players will create the most fun environment during a trader-pirate encounter? people who have had both types of characters for a long time. why? they saw both sides of the fence, and know what is acceptable for both parties. Piracy roleplaying - Hone - 05-25-2011 ' Wrote:don't be sorry - it's just pixels and bits. But getting into the spirit and feeling the emotions is what makes the game fun. Piracy roleplaying - Not Espi - 05-25-2011 yes, but as we can see it can also bring up a lot of frustration. if there is an example of this on the internet, this is the place. Piracy roleplaying - Dashiell - 05-25-2011 Well, what works in most cases is see how the other dude responds. If on your trader, start to have a lulzy conversation. Good pirates will mostly go 'oh my god, a proper trader!' and will go along with it (LR- and Paco Pistols come to mind) if the pirate doesn't respond and just goes 'drop all cargo/ gief 15 mils nao!' I'm inclined to shrug, say 'meh' and make him work for his (retarded) demand. (indie Corsair P trans and lolboats come to mind) On my pirate I usually ask stupid things. Like, 2 credits, female underwear, food and directions to the nearest post office. and I more often than not, get paid WAY more than I ask for. which makes me go o_o (John Woodpecker anyone?) But in that scenario, the trader and pirate had fun. The trader doesnt get killed, had some fun rp and 'lost' very little imigenary money. Rather than be left with a sour aftertaste of an encounter with a vastly superior ship with a vastly inferior player at the wheel. And if you are a pirate and you run into mute trades. just blow em up. All of em. But don't ruin the fun of proper traders who are out to have nice encounters. at least give those a chance to start rp-ing. Piracy roleplaying - angelz - 05-25-2011 ' Wrote:19 out of 20 traders You can always try to find the 1 out of 20. But if you pewpew all then you will not find it. |
