RE: Ouray Inn (iRP) - shemkel - 01-12-2013

Ronnie accepted the bottle with a smile, opened it and tasted the rum. He grined. "That bag, my corsair friend, will make you very popular here"
With a gesture of his hand, he invited her to follow him towards one of the corridors leading out of the dock. "But let's go to some warmer place. Ouray Inn is always open and is a good place to find some glasses in."
As they walked through the station's corridors, used the lifts and crossed over large spaces of workshops and storage rooms, it became clear for Valeria that the Xenos aren't well supplied at all. Old equipment repaired so many times that it was hard to tell it's origin, empty food ration boxes in mostly empty warehouses, incredible ammount of duct tape apparently used to repair about everything here, tired faces looking curiously at this foreign looking newcommer led by one of the leaders... it all suggested that even though Lancehead claimed that they fight for the Libertonian workers and their freedom, what they really fight for is survival.

Valeria followed Lancehead and kept herself close by the Xenos leader as to not make the Xenos on the base more nervous than some already seemed to be. She kept quiet listening most of the time but her eyes showed as she saw the almost ancient equipment, the empty ware houses and food ration boxes, that she could empathise with the situation the Xenos found themselves in.

"Wow..." Her voice was subdued from seeing just how bad the situation of the Xenos was. "You amigos are not just fighting... for el freedom, you are fighting.. for your survival." She correctly understood. "This reminds me of the tales of the past which are shared by our own people on Crete."

In this moment she found herself glad to have also loaded a good number of food rations, medical supplies and other consumable goods. Value able for the corsairs, these seemed almost priceless for the Xenos...

Jonathon walks into the bar after a long hard day managing the affairs. It has been too long since he has took a break. He doesn't really notice the noise of the bar when he walks in to his usaul table in the back. Nodding to the pilots who call out in greetings. "Hey Boss!".

He sits down with a sigh of content, glad to have the burdens lifted for at least a short moment.

He briefly smiles when the bartender brings him his usual. Coffee and a shot of "Mother's Finest".

He sits back, closes his eyes while lost in thought. Relishing the taste of the coffee.....

Looking at the heavy bag Valeria carried, Lancehead gently but resolutely took the bag from her. "Lemme help you with this sack" he said with a slight smile on his face. But the smile dissapeared quickly as they walked through the base. Mechanicaly tapping the airlock terminal buttons, chosing his path between the Ouray crew pursuing their business around the station, Ronnie seemed to be sunk in his thoughts.
"Sometimes I ask myself if it even makes any sense" Ronnie said when they were walking thorough last of the corridors leading to Ouray Inn and no one was around. "The corporations rule the Liberty. We know it's wrong but half of the people we try to help are actually happy to be slaves. I tell myself that's because they were born as slaves, raised as slaves and they have no idea what the freedom is... But maybe I am wrong...?" He smiled sadly and continued: "The youngsters have their ideals, the flame of youth... but we, veterans...? When you fight every day for someone who in fact hates you, when you get back to the base to eat staring at the wall against you, to see all these young Libertonians around that you don't want to get attached to knowing they'll most likely die soon... yeah, you start to have doubts." He paused for a second and the moment of his honesty ended as he said "We're here. Miss Benitez, I present you the Ouray Inn." He opened the airlock and they entered one of typical prefab-made bars so common throughout the whole Sirius. A few pilots turned their heads towards them to see who entered the bar but after a short moment, everyone got back to their drinks. "Let's get to the backroom" Lancehead said. "It's a bit more quiet in there"

"Gracias, senor." She had handed over the heavy bag and once Lancehead took it over he could notice that at least five more bottles of Malvada Rum must be inside.

As they walked through the corridors, Valeria remained quiet, witnessing the state of disrepair and the tired faces of the Xenos, while she listened to what Lancehead had to say. She followed his thoughts and silently pondered over them, trying to see through Xeno eyes and to understand how and why these people felt as they did.

"We corsairs have never been slaves and never will be. We would rather die." She sounded resolute. "We have always had to fight for ourselves, for our survival and to this day we continue this fight ..." She paused. "That is why we have so many enemies. We will not be subjugated by anyone and those who try will taste our wrath." When she spoke these words she had a fire in her eyes that showed that she was wild and ferocious inside with temperament and fire in her heart when it came to freedom.

"No, honored senor. You are not wrong, I feel..." She briefly responded to his question. "It dismays me to hear those you care for, your fellow people, to be in the situation they are in. That must be hurtful for you..." Her voice softened a bit at that and they continued to walk damaged and battle wary corridors towards the bar.

Once they reached the bar, Valeria looked around quietly taking in the scene while remaining unobtrusive to anyone's gaze she met. When Lancehead suggested the backroom, she nodded. "Si senor, lead the way." But was still keeping the man's words in her mind.

So much thought, and care ... she was intrigued to hear such from anyone so battletired as these people seemed to be. That and the man's honesty intrigued her and she was curious what he would say next as they entered one of the backrooms of the bar.

Walking by the bar, Ronnie nodded to the bartender and grabbed two glasses. "Adder's in the back" the barman said, which made turn back and grab one more glass. As they entered the back room, his bad mood seemed to perish. It may seemed a bit too sudden change for some cautious observer.
"Hey, boss" Lancehead said to the man relaxing at the only occupied table "How's your day going?"
As he put Valeria's bag against the wall, he turned back to the table to introduce Valeria to his boss. "This is that corsair I told you about yesterday. And guess what! She brought some supplies for us today. Some real food, parts, electronics... even some cool guns" He then turned to his guest "Miss Benitez, this is my boss and dear friend: Death Adder"
He pulled two chairs to the table and offered her a seat with a gesture of his hand. Then he moved his chair right between the table and the corner of the room so he could see the door from his place. From under his black leather jacket, Ronnie pulled out a cigar and started to search his pockets for a lighter. "I'll tell you the whole story in a second, man. Let's just get a bottle opened."

"Buenos Dias, honored senor." Valeria bowed her head respectfully to the man Lancehead just introduced her to. "It is an honor." Valeria had noted the somewhat too sudden change in Lancehead's mood, but for an outside observer she either was oblivious to it or chose to ignore it since she showed no visible reaction to it.

"Gracias." She seated herself on the chair that was offered and then remained quiet, listening as Lancehead spoke.

Jonathon looks up when Lancehead introduces the corsair pilot. He had been so lost in thought that he hadn't heard anyone walk up. "Good day, Miss Benitez. It is a pleasure to meet you. Ronnie has been telling me some interesting things lately. And now, you have also brought in some much needed supplies. Now, Please, both of you sit down. I am sure we have a lot to talk about."

With that, Jonathon finishes off his shot of "Mother's Finest" and motions the bartender to bring some more.

RE: Ouray Inn (iRP) - shemkel - 01-13-2013

Finally, Ronnie found his weathered zippo reproduction, lighted the cigar and started his story while pouring the corsair rum into the three glasses.
"I took the Snake River today.." he poofed twice cusing the cigar to catch some more fire "...to birng some supplies from Refugio." Two more small poofs and he inhaled deeply. "So. We're cruising slightly above the cloud. Three fifty kay, everything smooth." Ronnie exhaled a huge blue cloud of smoke, drank whole glass of the rum in one shot and sighed.
"Damn, this booze is good." he said shaking his head. He filled up his glass, drank it and filled it up once again. "Anyway, I was just opening a bottle to celebrate... well, nevermind. But I opened a bottle and suddenly... BANG the main generator fried. I was able to stabilize the drift before everything died but, I tell you, we were screwed."
Ronnie dried another glass of rum, reached for the bottle but he only stared at it for a while and left it on the table. "So. We're sitting with no engines, no shields and no radio in the middle of nowhere. Well... I thought the radio was fried and it wasn't really but nevermind that. I already thought that we'll have to take a walk to Nome but you know... it was at least fourty kay from the base... quite a long walk... so i wasn't really happy about it. And suddenly... what do I hear in my speaker? Miss Valeria Benitez herself in her freighter with a load of stuff onboard. Like an angel from the sky!"
Ronnie grined to Valeria, filled all the glasses and lifted his glass in a toast: "For Miss Benitez and them corsairs! May they always show up when I need 'em!"
He emptied the glass and smashed it into the wall across the room. He clenched his fists but relaxed in a moment and ended his short story quietly: "So I invited our Corsair Friend here to have a drink with us." He sighed looking for a while at the wet stain on the wall. "Besides... we might have a common interest with Valeria. Maybe."

"Senor Lancehead is muchos kind and flattering." The corsair responded before continueing. "But what he had not mentioned is that few days before I was met with el muchos generosity when I was in a very bad spot."

As a glass was poured for her the nodded. "Gracias"

"You see, what brought me to your system was an accidente. I do not entirely understand, but I suspect it has to do with a malfunction of a jumpdrive that was activated in my far vicinity, in Omicron Gamma, mi home." She sipped only small amounts from the rum, her delicate physique showed she was not the typical corsair when it came to tolerance of alcohol, especially strong ones. "I was as muchos helpless as the XA-Snake.River on that day and your hermanos found me and spared my life." She set the glass back down on the table.

"I did not want to leave such generosity without a token of gratitude and appreciacion, honored senor, and hence flew my freighter here el pronto. I did not know what is useful for your people so I loaded what is most valueable to us as a token of respect."

She picked her glass up to take another small sip from the Malvada rum.
